This is a good teaching/learning method. I did this with sabres once upon a time with a student who constantly attacked into right of way without voiding (modern Olympic sabre). His endangered, bare skin brought clarity of thought concerning either parrying and riposting or dodging and counterattacking. 😉
I also have a serious question, if you can believe that... does the fear of getting hurt (as in ouch, any hit hurts on bare skin; not referencing something serious) made you spar more conservatively? Did you found yourselves not taking unnecessary risks?
That is the point of the exercise: being more aware and focusing on precision instead of rushing in or taking risks. Also, I don't remember if it was specified in the video, but only the head was targetable.
@@saamfvg It was only specified in the description. But I also didn't pose the question correctly. Did you actually felt more like in a real bout, so more skin on the line 😏, a stronger fear of consequences? Or because you limited the attacks to the protected head, it felt more like normal (plus fun and less constrained movement but not so much afraid that you will get a bruise)? This is not clear to me.
@@FiliiMartis Unfortunately, both people in the video haven't been with our club for a few years, so we can't say for sure. In my experience (I'm Marco, the producer and smm, btw) it didn't feel like a real bout at all, just like an excercise. Obviuosly I did find myself being more careful and slowing down the pace, but I also started back in 2013 wher we didn't have access to proper protective gear and therefore I've learned to respect and treat simulacrums like real swords.

@@saamfvg You make a good point about learning respect for the steel, even when blunt, when you're starting with less gear.
Molto apprezzato!!
i am disappointed, i wish you'd take everything off and just censor the rest
Oh, we uploaded that version on another well known site. Look for "two guys playing with their plastic toys" ;)
btw, nice to see you here!
Luckily I miss these scene, even if I was indeed there!
Per fortuna o purtroppo? ;)
