  • So you want to buy a Humvee. Before bidding on Govplanet.com watch this video for some advise on what to look for. Most of the HMWWV's going to auction are sitting in a "pick-a-part" lot at the marine bases where they are removing parts to keep the rest of the fleet running until they are all decommissioned and sold. There are some very low mile trucks available and there are some very used ones as well, but depending on your budget and or abilities make sure you pick the right one for you.

    The military will leave prestine up armored 1165s to the taliban but then go damage water fording kits on the Humvees going to American civilians. I don't get it.

    FWIW; HMMWVs having unreasonable "low mileage" showing on the currently installed "Odometer" very likely do NOT represent the actual total mileage on the HMMWV since originally built! The "Original" AM General factory installed Speedometer/Odometers were manufactured by "FARIA Corp."

    I have an '04 M1123 and live up in Palmdale. You are exactly right. Do your research. I am glad I did. I have been very happy with my purchase so far and it has been in my possession since Nov 2019.

    Its great to assume that these will need a new engine if its a non runner, it'll have you more prepared lol. If you're really trying hard to get a good deal and don't mind doing the work, its good to look into the ones that says it needs to be jump started, this could mean it only need some new batteries and maybe a new generator. People tend to not bid high for those too

    Yep, totally agree with you… I just bought one from there didn’t realize it was picked apart …. I mean, like you said, if you’re going to sell it, least keep some things on it. Like steering box.!!!

      It’s a private company owned by Ritchie Bros Auctioneers. They are set up to sell for the military, it’s actually an arm of Iron planet which is owned by Ritchie Bros.

      I would check to make sure the crank turns, the cut the oil filter open to make sure it isn't full of steel. If that's all good it should be good and worth putting some time and money into

      They are ok, if you plan to drive on the road you should find one with the 6.5 turbo and make sure it had the 4 speed transmission otherwise you don’t get above 50 MPH

      If it is all there and ready to go it’s not too bad. A lot if the ones at auction are missing parts. But you cAn still find good ones, just remember at auction you will pay 8-3/4 % sales tax and 10% buyer fees from the auction

      @@RasmussenEquipment I saw a video of this guy Putin one together and with out paint and nice sits and no upgraded suspension and he said it cost $21k not factoring the labor hours and another man built one for $35k not counting the labor hours my question is is the 6.5 engine a lot better then the 6.2? Or is just the speed deference?

    • @RasmussenEquipment
      @RasmussenEquipment  Год назад +1

      There is a difference in power, as well as the 4 speed trans. I believe there are some 6.2 with the 4 speed. It all depends on what you plan to do with it. For playing around the 6.2 is good. The 6.2 is a very reliable engine and parts are plentiful and cheap
