I'm glad that someone's trying to build out a sensible alternative to the hyper partisan duopoly. Sure, many people love being in the extremes, so they can just stay put in their own bubbles. For the rest of us let's finally get stuff done.

Have you ever read Hayek's The Use of Knowledge in Society? One of the most brilliant libertarian arguments ever written, and it clearly predicts that thousands of small business owners distributed throughout a society will always have better access to knowledge of demand and opportunity to expand the economy than a central planning bureau, regardless of whether that central planning bureau happens to be located in a government office or at Amazon. Even with big data, you can't match the depth of information about local conditions and opportunities that the people on the ground you are getting the big data from have available to them. We need to unleash the economic potential of small business owners. That's how we get rid of American Carnage and revitalize all the towns and cities that were left behind by globalization and offshoring and still haven't recovered. Neoliberalism is just the private version of central planning, with monopolies and oligopolies running everything. Neoliberalism isn't even a free market either in the classical liberal or Lockean libertarian sense, since everybody becomes dependent on the monopolies and oligopolies for everything, and financialization distorts the economy, which means there isn't anything like "enough and as good" access to opportunity for most people with equal merit and initiative. Neoliberalism is a road to serfdom. We're already most of the way there. Serfdom isn't freedom, and technofeudalist "gig" extraction schemes are just serfdom by another name.
Yang's VAT tax + UBI plan would actually result in that technofeudalist-extracted money going where it can be used most effectively to expand the economy and revitalize small towns and cities across America that were left behind by globalization and offshoring and now face even greater threats from automation of jobs. Unlike the Democrats' Wealth Tax plan, the VAT tax + UBI system would actually reduce wealth inequality, since billionaires who abandon U.S. citizenship or use other loopholes to hide or misstate their wealth still have to pay the VAT tax every time they do business in the U.S. economy, with no way to avoid the VAT except to do something clearly illegal.
If nobody listens to what Yang is actually saying, and his and similar messages get forgotten, we're just going to have a decades-long or violent and destructive battle between people who want to make us dependent on the state (Democrats) and people who want to make us dependent on gigantic unaccountable corporations whose lobbyists write their own laws and make them the law of the land, pick almost all of our elected representatives through gerrymandering, vast campaign spending and every trick in the book, and make it impossible for any little people to compete, or even force all the little people either give them a cut or get locked out almost entirely from entire industries, as in the gig and 'creator' economies (Republicans). Neither of those systems is free!
There needs to be another alternative. America was founded on the strength, skill and initiative of the independent yeomen farmers and herders of the South and the Frontier, the small craftspeople, artisans and inventors in the Middle States and Boston, the little people from New England delivering goods around the world in their own little sailboats or fishing and clamming for a living. That's what America is about! We've got to remember before it's too late! Real freedom is possible, it was never perfect, but we can get back to what made America a success at a time when nearly all of the other postcolonial societies collapsed for decades and centuries into tyranny and stagnation, weighed down by some postcolonial elite centralizing power and wealth in a distant capital (whether Mexico City, Guatemala City, Buenos Aires, Lima, Rio de Janiero, etc.). If we keep on our current path, we're going to end up going down the same well-travelled road all of those other postcolonial societies went down at the time the U.S. started expanding at a dramatic and unprecedented rate from a ragtag but *free* group of tiny, underpopulated states into a global economic and cultural superpower. We have to remember what makes America so great! We have to aim higher than what we have now, and remember the freedom past generations of Americans used to have which we don't have any more and which neither the Republicans nor the Democrats want us to ever get back.

Honestly, I'm not even surprised as Its about time to stop "trying" to fix a system and so called "teams" and just pave a path for the future.
I have been checking Andrew and now Vivek Ramaswamy... I have to say I would love these two to touch up and talk. I understand if Vivek would not join Yang but perhaps Vivek could break the ole tradition and invite Yang as a VP position. That would be an amazing start.
Yang warned us a lot about what could have happen and it did.
