Basically telling people there's no room turn on skills on the job and you have to come in with years of experience, essentially trapping all young, even intelligent and competent employees out of the industry while complaining that they have a worker shortage. Exactly the problem everyone is complaining about, including people with degrees. Tell him thanks for proving everyone's point.
It's true. I have a bachelor's in Data Analytics. Projects under my belt you name it but I do not have work experience as a data analyst and guess what. I have not been hired. Not even at entry level and I have plenty of work experience just not as a data analyst. Why did I go to school to learn these skills of no one is willing to give me a chance to use them? No interviews. Nothing. I'm now preparing to get a degree in another field and I'm deciding on a second bachelor's or a masters with hopes of being able to find employment within the next 2 YEARS! There are too many games being played in these industries right now. Employers are holding out for something.
I really enjoyed this video! It is very insightful on what recruiters are looking for! Personality, background , storytelling, grit, and ect! You said at the end that you think you aren’t succinct. Since I’ve been in your program I feel like you are very succinct and straight to the point when communicating information! Thanks for the video! I probably going to watch this again tomorrow lol 😂.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! Glad you found it insightful. 😄 really means a lot! Thanks for joining The Accelerator. Can’t wait to get started with you.
Hello, Avery Smith I am learning skills like SQL, Power BI, and Excel, and I just wanted to know weather I would land a job based on this skills in 2025
This is such an insightful video. All the pointers mentioned by each of the Hiring Managers seem so relatable and relevant. But what struck the chord for me amongst the rest is the 'Projects.' Earlier when I took up a course 2 years back, I skipped the Capstone Project. My excuse has been that I am from a completely non technical background but the fact remains that I fear I might not be good enough even at Excel (something I am good at). So, from then on I decided to just improve my knowledge and gather more information about Data Roles without any practical action towards it. But now, I want to give it a try before I fail or give up. Feels weird to think of attending interviews for a role after almost 20 years especially after spending 10 of them in conducting interviews.
Currently a DS student with Triple ten, just nervous because I didn't take the school route my counselor adviced me to go into Data Science because Instead of college I went straight into sales so 6 years of experience there but this helped me a lot I was so scared of not having that degree Thankyou recruiters big time for giving untraditional even the slightest chance in such an analytical role
The data analyst role has likely become over saturated so the demand for these roles has lowered. Technology has changed so much over the last year, and will continue to advance with AI becoming more heavily utilised. As a result, the job market has changed, and will continue to change.
This video is awesome useful. Thank you for sharing. By the way it would be more professional if the audiences not need to see the host's bare feet moving around. It is quite unprofessional while you were interviewing how to be professional.

@@monique1112223what is the other field you're looking to go into??
So true. In a team work, each personality drives/contributes how collectively the overall team work together...
Personality match is a big deal
I really liked the clarity of thought from Alex, super useful to have irrespective of data job or not
100% agreed

So well written. I think you’re experiencing something most people do but they’re afraid to say it. Congrats and wishing you all the luck.
Sir what are the possibilities of getting remote jobs for fresher
amazing video Avery! thank you so much for this :)
Hey man I'm doing an IT & Management degree. Do you think I can get into entry level data roles with this degree as base?
Such valuable insights, your foot is distracting though 🤣

You are very welcome 🤗
I have a BA in Applied Math should i build projects or get certifications first? And will projects + my degree be enough to land interviews?

Hmmm maybe. But also the data in the video suggests things the market isn’t that bad?
