A common question I get that I didn’t address... policy on guests.
Anyone can come and visit whenever. If they want to stay the night, the policy is that you should inform reception. I think this is for health and safety reasons.
If you can , could you do a tour of Melville if you have a friend willing to allow you to do so ? This video was so helpful x

When they allocate you to flats do they try to put you with people similar to you. These are so useful as I'm in year 12 but cant go visiting uni so thank you so much xx
Hello! Good question. Yes they do! I filled in a questionnaire. It asked me about my personality, it also asked me whether I want to be in a flat with all girls or mixed boys and girls (I said either and ended up all girls). They use this to allocate you xx

Are studio flats in crown place on their own or in cluster with other studio flats. Want to socialise is it harder to meet people if your in a studio ?.

I lived in a studio flat at Crown in my final year. It was in a cluster I think of approx 3. My friend’s studio flat was in a cluster of a lot more, I think at least 10. I don’t know if this is the case for all of them, try calling the accommodation number and they might help with more clarity.
You don’t have access to a shared kitchen, so one could argue this makes it harder in some ways as a shared kitchen ‘forces’ you to meet and socialise with the people you share it with. But I think there are lots of other ways to make friends. A lot of people meet most of their friends on their course, at students union events, societies etc. People also tend to create group chats with everyone in their block (which is hundreds of people), if they have pre drinks in their flat, they advertise it on the group chat and anyone in the block is invited. You meet people that way too.
Even if you have a shared flat, there’s a chance you might not get on with them, and then you meet amazing friends on the floor above and you spend most of your time there anyway. So a shared flat doesn’t necessarily mean more socialising.
I hope this helps? You can argue it either way, but you can see there that there’s lots of ways to socialise other than in your own shared kitchen!
Also remember, your first year is one of at least three. If you try a studio and find it’s not for you, no big deal, next year you’ll try a shared house or flat. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to try something new each year! In my humble opinion x
Hey, how social is crown place, ive read some awful reviews about it but also really good ones?
Hello Joe, my video on 'Student Halls vs On-Campus Halls' addresses this question. But in short, halls life will be the most sociable experience you'll ever have. I don't know how anyone could claim that Crown isn't social, unless they were physically locking themself away in their room all day!

sophie, would you recommend buying all the stuff you need from the unikit website or buy local and how far do you have to carry stuff?
Hey!
There are pros and cons to either. It’s probably cheaper to buy yourself, but then that’s more effort. So it depends what matters more to you.
You don’t need to carry far. On your move in day they open the car park. You park directly in crown place for free and they have trolleys similar to what you find at the airport for your luggage. You can take the lift up to your floor with your trolley of luggage.

Would you recommend studio or deluxe single for first year? (cost irrespective)
Archisha Marya that totally depends on whether you’d prefer to live more communally where you share the kitchen (so deluxe) or live privately where you don’t share anything (studio).
do you get to find out your feature wall colour before you go or do you find out on the day?
I wish you could! We tried phoning up but they didn’t know in advance. I found out on the day.
But... my advice to you would be to not let your feature wall dictate your colours. You’re only there for one year, then you’ll take all your items with you for the remaining two years. You won’t have a bright green/orange/blue wall in your remaining two years, so you’d probably prefer your decor not to match that anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck and lots of love!

What if someone goes into your food cuboard or is that not possible
Hopefully you will trust each other not to do that, or you may be okay with sharing food here and there. But if not, there are locks on all the cupboards for you to attach padlocks if that's what you'd prefer.

How long until crown place issue room offers??.I applied in January and i haven't heard back from them yet. Is there a chance i wont get a place at crown place??
Room offers are only issued on results day, as before that the university can't be sure that you'll even be going there. Sorry for the late reply, I hope you received the room of your choice :)

Congratulations on an unconditional offer! That’s an impressive achievement.
I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to your question, but I imagine you’d still need to wait. They allocate your room based on your preferences. They can’t match you with others with the same preferences until they have others confirmed. If that makes sense?
I think you could phone the accommodation office to ask this!

this sounds scum but living at uni on a budget won't be able to afford a load of movies . what's the rules on downloading , do many people do it ? or are you completely monitored at the uni?. I'm not one to download a lot but i do it rarely from time to time when I can't afford it.
