    This style of playing speaks to me, as a self taught player this is the style I picked up on the quickest i didn't have time and money to have some dude teach me an Fsharp or some shit, I did it all by ear, but your Vids have help with getting the doom foundation down, thank you. From a guitar player that has nothing.

    One of the best guitar teachers on the web. One quote of yours that I really like that I think sums up one reason why your so good is "If it sounds good it is good, and don't let anybody else tell you otherwise because well, they're probably full of shit."

    Really cool, awesome demonstration of riffing. One thing I never understood though is why are there all these separate genres, when I was a teenager the stuff was just heavy metal or heavy rock. This stuff is really heavily like Black Sabbath-like, what you're playing. But people didn't put Black Sabbath, blue oyster cult, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, rainbow, Pat Travers, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Angel witch, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, into separate categories. They're all just heavy rock and heavy metal. There's so much diversity under that umbrella so it makes me sad to see these little camps of separate genres or silos creep up over the years.. but this sound that people are calling Stoner these days, I love it. Along with other sounds.

      I mainly use the genre tags to be a little more specific. I hear what you're saying though.

    Hey Corey, thnx for the awesome vids.
    I was wondering if you could hint me on what price range a guitar starts becoming decent usually? My first guitar was a cheap piece of shit and repairing whats broken would cost me basically the same as a new one. I wasn't that good or playing for very long. But it has been about 2 months without and I can't fucking take it anymore. I guess that pretty much reassures I want to continue, haha. Therefore I would like to know when something becomes decent, since I rather save up for something decent this time than going too cheap again. I would say my absolute maximum at this moment is about 450$.
    Maybe too much of a story. But if you read this thank you Corey! xD

    • @CoreyHunter
      @CoreyHunter  9 лет назад +3

      MrStefanuzumaki I really couldn't tell you, to be honest. I would recommend checking out Rob Chapman's channel, as I'm pretty sure he's done some gear on a budget type videos. He's very knowledgeable when it comes to guitar makes and quality. Cheers.

      Keep your eye out on Craigslist, dude. Shady as it is, you can find some legit gear at a much better price than any retailer. Aside from that, I've seen some nice Schecters used for around 400-450. You can also look at some Epiphones; cheaper price tag than a Gibson with comparable performance.
      Some advice I was given:
      Save up and spend the money on something you really like; feel, look, and sound wise with quality pickups. It will help keep you wanting to play because... sweet guitars beg to be played. Also, fretboard material is purely asthetic.

  • @Melvinator

    I have an epiphone SG can I get the same sound ?

    • @ks-zc1jh
      @ks-zc1jh 8 лет назад +1

      swap the pickups and get the guitar set up for what's most comfortable for you.

    • @PedroskiClimb

      yes

    • @PedroskiClimb
      @PedroskiClimb 8 лет назад +3

      Yes he can. The Epi SGs are great guitars, and anyone who says otherwise has most likely never even held one.

    • @ks-zc1jh
      @ks-zc1jh 8 лет назад

      Pete Millis exactly, my Korean made epi is a solid guitar. People who proclaim that there Gibson's are infinitely better are only trying to justify the 2k they spent. Haha

      Corey Hunter Cool found them. Are you using a Chorus pedal when you initially play the piece when you get to the 7 and 9 fret of the D string? has a neat harmonizer sort of sound.

    • @CoreyHunter
      @CoreyHunter  10 лет назад

      Don Hughes I don't use effects on distorted tones.

    • @donhughes7339
      @donhughes7339 10 лет назад

      Hmmm got ya. just sounded like two tracks running once you slid down to the 7th and 9th frets on the first play through. Could just be how i'm hearing it. Thanks for posting great lessons
