Boy, you R a skilled fabricator. These videos are a great library of how to tackle some of these challenges. Keep up the great work and thanks for the detailed explanation.
Just recently got interested in early 60's Ford Uni's. Love the Vic swap and the way you are building it. Plus (and it's a big one) you are not overhyping, doing the hey look at me I'm a YT entertainer now and the other hoaky stuff too many guys try to do. But,, you speak well and explain itjust the right way. The truck is awesome. Great job.
I like your idea and looking forward to seeing it completed. Good luck, it's a nice build. It's great to see somebody doing what us old guys use to do. You come up with an idea and make it work. Period. That is a real build and it;s strictly American. Red blooded American ingenuity.
I watched all the videos you have so far on your build of this truck. First I like it, you blended old with new and kept it Ford, it's fantastic. Second I am sure it may have already been pointed out that Motor Trend has some of their guys doing a 1966 F100 onto a P71 Crown Vic as well but you started before they did and are further and your's is a unibody making your build more difficult and frankly cooler. So wanted to just say you making a great ride.
My f100 project is two years (of spare time) 32 valve 4.6 crown vic idfs & rear end, tilt front end and love how you approached the wiring. Great video work too
Dude this is looking awesome! Love that new seat and the carpet. The fuel filler is nifty. Time to get my butt in gear and work on my truck. Just graduated a recruit company and have the week off work to recuperate. Carolina classics did a huge solid for me- ordered window parts and his supplier messed up/ back and forth communication and he sent me some good used ones super cheap- and refunded me some money for the trouble. He's a good dude and totally recommend him to any slick /Ford truck guy. He does a good job.
Excellent video, I'm going to buy some peal and seal and cover the interior of my old impala. Great idea. I loved the park job man. I took me a bit to realize you weren't just trying to just flatten something really good.
I have worked through all of the videos on the F100 conversion and I really appreciate your quality, hard work....I have a 1981 Shay replica of a 1955 Thunderbird, so many of your fabrication ideas are applicable to my car! I am also thinking of doing a 1940 Ford pickup conversion/frame swap so your quality, inexpensive approach is great. We in the Midwest know how to have hot rod fun we cheap...We don't coast, HA! If you even get over to Omaha, I would love to get together and talk...
Loving the build, very informative and not just a slide show like so many others. I have been watching Nathan's Garage as well glad to hear your'e on the same page. Would very much like to see a bike build if it's possible. Keep up the videos...John
I saw all your project, you did an excellent job, I started 2 days ago with my P71 to f100 1970, all the wires are complicated. But I will try to follow all your steps.
I’ve been watching a ton of chassis swap vids lately. I really like how you split up the build sections. I’m Subscribed and have been watching 1-3 episodes a day. I really like the swaps that keep as much as possible stock. I have a 49 Ford I want to put on an a 5.0 Explorer chassis. I’m learning a lot from your videos even though it’s a different body style and chassis. I had seen your bikes before and they’re great also! Thanks for putting the time into editing a quality step by step guide to your swap. I know it takes a lot of effort and it is appreciated 👍🏼😎👍🏼
Hey thanks so much for the kind words! Had a blast making (and continuing) the build series. Glad you found some useful info! Thanks again for dropping a line!
Really cool. I've had a 71 sitting out back for years. Now I'll probably go buy and old cop car to set beside it! Lol. I have all the motivation and ideas in my head, now, If I could just execute them like you have. Great job and very impressive. I just found your channel last night and I've watched every video and waiting anxiously for the next. I have an idea for the wheels. You mentioned trying to match the light blue paint on the rust repairs you've made. I think the wheels would look sweet painted the same color and aged to look old. What do you think?
Hey man I’m getting ready to do this same swap on my 66 I’m glad you made a very well detailed series of videos I might be sending you some comments with questions later on thx for the videos
I dubbed thee, "Crown F100",(you can almost here the fanfare horns) lol. The beauty rims makes the CV wheels looks great. I may throw a set on my Vic. :-) You got me binge watching the videos, love them.
Haha! Thank you so much for tuning in. Truly I appreciate it. It means a lot that folks are willing to spend their time watching me fool around in my garage. Thank you
Perfect timing! I have a 68' F-100 with a long bed and was thinking about buying a 5.0 mustang as a donor car; however, after seeing your awesome project, I may do some research and see if I can get a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis for a frame swap.
Thanks Wayne! Oh I don't worry about them, what I've found is 99.9% of the time it's based on jealousy, so kinda like a compliment in a way ;) Thanks for watching bud!
hi again, i considered using a toyota seat in my 61 but i wanted the 60/40 seat configuration. i have a 04 f-150 seat 60/40 configuration. that way my passenger can move there seat without changing my seat. its slammed down to the floor. im going to put all the computer stuff under the passenger seat. easier access to it when chasing down electrical problems. love what you did with yours. i just havent figured my engine choice yet. ive thought about the evo boost as well as the 5 liter 363 stroker.
Enjoying your build. I am currently looking for a P71 to do a frame swap under a 62' flareside. I am curious about your rear end ratio that you have. I understand that the PIs have either a 3.27 or 3.55. I also would like to do some light towing so am trying to locate a PI with the C6 axle code. Also, do you know of anyone that has swapped a frame with a flareside? I am a bit worried about the fuel tank with fitting in between the bed sides. Rock on brother!
I have really enjoyed you video and has been very helpful. I have a 51 ford coupe all stock and I'm going to try ( I said try ) to employ a 2006 crown vic,, the vickie gets delivered this Saturday I'm all ready sure it to wide so I'm going to have to real creative
Best of luck brother! Also, thanks so much for the kind words! If indeed your Vic is too wide you can swap in a ‘98-‘02 Vic rear end. It’s much more narrow and works great. I plan to do that myself. There is also a fab shop (Fat Man Fabrication) that makes a bolt on front end kit that narrows the front end up quite a bit. Best of luck and thanks for tuning in!
Love the build man, and you have covered a lot of the wiring, gauges and so on. Although I would like to know how you made the key from the truck work with the Vic wiring, again trying to stay as original as possible inside. Thanks for any info you can provide...
Thanks Justin! I actually cover how to wire the old ignition switch into the Vic wiring in episode 1 or 2. I even drew a diagram and show it on screen.
Love the videos, not sure if this is been asked yet but you never mentioned in the video where you got your carpet from. I'm redoing a 66 F250 and I'm looking for carpet that will actually fit properly and it looks like you had good luck with the place you bought your carpet from.
You do very good work, im so glad you kept it all ford...it hurts me to see a nice looking ford & turns out its powered by a Chevy, once again a very nice build you're doing
Absolutely love the video man! My hat is off to you! Now that I've come across this one, without a doubt I have to watch the rest. I'm building a car myself, so I know what you are dealing with. Keep it up, don't let any naysayers get you down, they are just buttwipes at best.
Hey there again:) Again, LOVE your videos!!! Quick question for ya, would you mind sharing what make model welder you use for your fabrication? It seems to be very versatile from welding thicker steel down to thin body welding. I need a new welder for my f100 project and was wondering what you use? Thanks in advance, Russ
You bet Russ! It’s a Lincoln Electric 210MP. That thing is a workhorse! It’s also idiot proof (good for me haha) you just enter in your wire size (I use .025) and the thickness of the steel you are welding and it automatically sets the voltage and wire speed! Very handy. It also runs on either 110v or 220v. I couldn’t be happier. And you are correct, it’s VERY versatile. Big Bang for the buck!
@@rivercity3908 Very cool!!!:) thanks for the reply, I'm gonna do some welder shopping yayyyyy!!:) enjoy the weekend man, I'm still burning thru your videos, love em all!! Keep up the great work
So you were asking about the blue color in one of your early videos about your truck mine is a what I have been told is Arcadian blue and it's faded much like yours
I love this series! I'm constantly impressed with the quickness of it all. That last scene was I little hard to watch though. . Can I suggest a back up camera? Lol. Just kidding of course! Keep up the great work!
yarkie1 haha! I like to highlight my shortcomings. To be honest just out of camera shot was thousands of dollars worth of fabrication equipment I didn't want to hit, so I was being overly careful. Thanks for tuning in!
You mentioned in the comments that it made more sense for you to swap the whole chassis rather than piece one together, say just swapping the CV front end and doing something with the rear. I was wondering if (in a Q&A or whenever you release your next vid) if you could elaborate a little more on that. Also if you could talk about how the registration is going to work. As I understand it the title goes with the frame, so will you be registering this as a CV or as a kit?
So at 4:43, you're talking about the 'peel and seal' on the floor, but there's rust there. Do you anticipate any problems with it not staying on due to the rust? Would you think about using rust inhibitors, and if not, why not? Do those rust inhibitors work, the ones that bond to the rust and supposedly stop rust from advancing?
That is just surface rust. it actually adheres better to surface rust than the smoothly painted floor pans. I totally believe in rust inhibitors, namely POR15. It's the best of the best. But for that simple surface rust you see on my floor there simply laying the Peel and Seal over it will cut off the oxygen to it thus almost killing it's chances of progressing to rusting through. I will be worm food before that surface rust becomes an issue in that truck. Great question, and thanks for tuning in!
I'm loving this build. You do some quality work. Though, makes sense with your day job why you'd have the mad skills. A bunch of us do some sort of hand made channel/project related giveaway...though I'm overdue on my 100 subscriber giveaway that I think I'll wait to do it at 250.
Hey thanks man! Good idea! I don't know about mad skills, but thanks for the compliment! The first time I picked up a welding torch was less than 3 years ago, but I fell in love and just learned as much as I could as fast as I could, then found anything I could practice on. I'll check your channel out, thanks again!
Great project, A couple questions. How fire resistant is that sound deadener? Wouldn't it have been better to wait on the sound deadener until all the welding on the floor was finished? I know you didn't go all the way to the step areas with it, but you are still going to have the heat transfer and welding splatter.
Fordman7575 you have to be a experienced welder to ask a question like that. That one piece that is butted up to where I will be welding will be trimmed back to match the other. From there I will be throwing a welding blanket over the stuff and working from there. Great question.
I do all my own welding, but am by no means a welder. I consider myself a better grinder then a welder. I've just seen a couple other people loose their project vehicles when they burnt to the ground from welding or grinding in areas where there was flammable items. So I just get a little paranoid about that stuff on my own projects. Keep up the great work on the F100!
I've both lengthened and shortened frames before. No sweat, google has you covered there. Measure 20 times and weld it back with a few plates on the outside and inside. The biggest pain is brake lines and getting your drive shaft extended, but those aren't big deals. I say go for it!
I have given the idea of building one for someone some thought as I do this with my motorbikes and motorcycles. If you don't mind, send me a direct message with some more detail of what you are looking for. I will add this is a pretty labor intensive project and wouldn't be a cheap build. but from what I can tell it's an incredible marriage between old school style and modern convince.
+Darryl Hoar I've had it sitting outside a couple times in this crazy heat we've been having here and I haven't noticed any smell in the int. Just has that new car smell thanks to the new carpet.
Shane Midgley I just bolted it on the GM spline column. It works fine, doesn't slip at all, but I may try and convert the wheel into a GM spline wheel for added safety. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the compliment! As far as the best Crown Vic, that’s all relative. Personally I like the 2005-2011. Rack and pinion steering being the biggie, I personally like the drive by wire throttle, and the gauges run on a CAN/BUS system so custom gauges are plug and play (so long as you are using CAN/BUS aftermarket gauges). The rear track width on the ‘05 and up is wider than the previous years but you can swap the rear ends if width is an issue. Just takes a little shock tower modification. Ya really can’t go wrong, but rack and pinion in these is very nice. I’d be stoked to see a Galaxie frame swap. Kinda debated it myself!
LOVE this series! I'm a GM guy that loves the old Fords! I can't help but notice the Mustang. What's up with that? And as always, keep up the awesome vids!
Thanks so much! That mustang is a restoration project, I've replaced all the floors, inner rocker, torque boxes, put on a new quarter, fender, and straightened the remaining body panels, I've rebuilt the engine and trans. So basically it's just waiting for paint prep and panel fit, then paint. It just got shoved over to the corner when the truck came. Gotta have a shop truck! ;) Thanks again for tuning in!
hey enjoy your video did you know Motor Trend Channel is doing a F- 100 Swap on a Police CarCrown Vic put in the search Ford Truck / Cop Car Body Swap - Hot Rod Garage Ep. 49
That was my question as well. Do you find that the Dupilcolor rubs off? Will it end up on a white t-shirt? Great project; I look forward to each instalment.
Thanks so much for tuning in! I've used this stuff for years, and I'll say it stinks like hell, if you use it keep your windows rolled down for a day or two afterward. It goes away after a bit. But I was skeptical when I first tried it, seemed like snake oil when it first came around, but I gave it a go years ago on a '66 Cadillac Sedan DeVille I had that had that pea green interior, dyed it black. Worked like a charm and held up for the 4 years I owned it after that. And the '66 Deville had a fabric/vinyl combo seat. Not once did I ever see it come off on my clothes but then again I don't wear white shirts. In this video I had to wrangle the freshly dyed seat (sat for about 24hrs) into the truck to make the mounts and got nothing on my hands, and being it's black I would have noticed. The stuff seems legit
Awesome videos. Very helpful information. Gets me excited to get my 1961 F250 upgraded with Crown Victoria drivetrain. My truck is longwheel base. So the crown Victoria frame doesn't work for me.
I never get tired of watching a p71 getting repurposed into something really cool....nice job.

Truck is looking good! Where did you find the beauty rings for your wheels?
Hey Kyle! Thanks man. Here's a link: amzn.to/2nm9oRk
Nothing against Nathan but the gas cap on yours looks a little better. Great job man.
I was told a Mercury mountaineer or explorer frame would work best use wiring and computer disc brakes all around
How did you end up doing the steering wheel?
I've wanted to do something like this for a long time! My issue is the truck I have to work with is a long box. Any thoughts on a frame extension?
I've both lengthened and shortened frames before. No sweat, google has you covered there. Measure 20 times and weld it back with a few plates on the outside and inside. The biggest pain is brake lines and getting your drive shaft extended, but those aren't big deals. I say go for it!
Damm the size of this guys garages is bigger then my house
How many rolls of peal an seal did it take? Good sounding truck.
so far I've used two rolls and that's what you see in the vid. I'd say it would take 3 maybe 4 rolls
Interested to see what you think a total cost is on this build and would you build another for a client?
I have given the idea of building one for someone some thought as I do this with my motorbikes and motorcycles. If you don't mind, send me a direct message with some more detail of what you are looking for. I will add this is a pretty labor intensive project and wouldn't be a cheap build. but from what I can tell it's an incredible marriage between old school style and modern convince.
Was wondering if the peel and seal smelled like tar when it got hot inside the cab.
+Darryl Hoar I've had it sitting outside a couple times in this crazy heat we've been having here and I haven't noticed any smell in the int. Just has that new car smell thanks to the new carpet.
Love your build! Question: Did the steering wheel work out? I see it's still on there.
Shane Midgley I just bolted it on the GM spline column. It works fine, doesn't slip at all, but I may try and convert the wheel into a GM spline wheel for added safety. Thanks for watching!
The sound deadener that your using, how does it stand up to heat, does it have a heat range on the packaging?
-25 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit
Nice video set! Just a quick question, what is the best year of CV to use? I am going to be doing a 65 galaxie convertible.
Now to find an affordable 05 and up
I bought my 2008 locally for $600. Just keep an eye on Craigslist, check daily, that’s what I did.
What are you going to do for brskes
How did you dye the seat black?
I cover it in the next vid. Thanks for tuning in!
@@rivercity3908 yes sir I am watching that one now and seen it. Great build wanting to do this myself so very helpful to see everything you did.
@@rivercity3908 I started at vid one today on 12 now. The peel and seel is good to know!
You are a trooper! I couldn’t deal with watching myself that long haha!
Here it is 3 years later you have 7500 subscribers and only 40 videos. Where are you, Man? Do some more!
I'm starting a 54 f100 Vic swap thanks for the vids !
And thank you for the support!
let me know how that goes! I'm looking to do the same thing but i was worried about the frame widths not lining up

You could do a paint project
hey enjoy your video did you know Motor Trend Channel is doing a F- 100 Swap on a Police CarCrown Vic put in the search Ford Truck / Cop Car Body Swap - Hot Rod Garage Ep. 49
Yeah they did a killer job on theirs
where is the river city?
A magical land they call Des Moines.
LOL I would so do that !!!!!
Ive been there before....
keep up the good work.do an electric bike build.
wth how did you die the seats??? that alone is a good video!! lol
Thanks Mario, but it was just regular old duplicolor fabric paint(dye) for seats, works great!
The stuff seems legit
subscribing it.i want to see you end your project.
good luck from Japan
LOL DO A BURN OUT!
Again...I like the way you think
Thanks dude LOL! I used to have a p71 and when i herd you could do this I wanted to but I ended turning mine in to a endro car.
I only have one subscriber 😔
Awesome videos. Very helpful information. Gets me excited to get my 1961 F250 upgraded with Crown Victoria drivetrain. My truck is longwheel base. So the crown Victoria frame doesn't work for me.
