Isn't that a ladle?
I went off of osakaki's video ruclips.net/video/hTyfRdAIPAQ/видео.html and assumed Pikamee mistranslated. She said "otama" there, which means "ladle" and not "spatula."
I learned later when Tomoe was revealed ruclips.net/video/1qYAVmcToYE/видео.html that she did in fact mean "spatula," so yeah that part of my video is wrong.

Listening to her speak English is fascinating. Her pronunciation is almost always perfect, and she understands and uses slang a lot, but she mixes certain sentences strangely. Like how she said “when I was going through the teenager” instead of saying “when I was a teenager”.
Moving to a foreign country when you're 3 will do that.

It throws me off every time how she has that native-sounding American dialect but then there's these tiny grammar gliches peppered throughout her speech.
That’s pretty common with bilingual people. They switch between languages on the fly, even in their head.
@@doorto6152 Yeah I know how that works. I do still have a slight unplaceacle accent, even after reaching native-level fluency in English over 10 years ago but it's a coin toss what language I think or dream in. Sometimes I'll be asked something in one language and answer in another. Happens all the time when I have to switch a lot.
My working theory is that you don't really think in any language.
It's only when you need to actually express something or make an active effort to find out what language you're thinking in that the whole thought construct solidifies into one or the other, and only for that moment.
I've dreamt in fluent French, Spanish and Japanese despite being nowhere near fluency in those languages. To me this is proof that the brain doesn't operate on a language unless it has to.
Sorry for going off on such a tangent.

@@n_worder How tf did he get it backwards though? When people age, their voices get deeper, not higher pitched. Right now she's just trying to sound cutesy to go with her character or something even if her fanbase are in the mid 20s to 30s. I personally don't like it. I like her personality and stuff, but her latest voice is a no go for me.
@@NekoHazrd Initially Pika had mid pitch between Monoe's low and Tomoshika's high. After Monoe graduated they stopped doing that.
@@NekoHazrd Pikamee said that she lowered her voice during the early days because she was self-conscious about her high-pitched voice and she eventually stopped doing that. The voice she’s using now is her real voice.

Watching these Pika clips after a year sure feels weird. I mean, even the way she talked back then is different. Her tone was lower and you can even notice she's maybe a bit nervous.

I'm like 99% sure she is mixed, most likely her dad is a foreign worker/military. Her English is so amazing! Most Japanese born girls I've met do not speak that good of English. Her English is even better than a lot of foreign students that I know. It's crazy. Growing up watching anime, and learning they all learn English in school(for 6 years?), I came to expect them all to know English. But I was so surprised when I was in Japan, and how even girls who are 18ish can't speak it at all! I'm always amazed by how good her pronunciation is, and how she is able to switch between the two languages at ease.

The thing is that there are barely any way for them to practice the language. Studying a language for 6 years won't matter if you have no chance to use it.

she's half japanese
American dad and Japanese mom is what I read. Her dad probably went to Japan from Nevada, met and married mamamee, went to texas together. Then pikamee was born, went to Japan at 3 years old. Through her teenage years for a while, came back to texas, then finally back to Japan. With or without her parents at the end, that IDK.
