Great video, thank you! Both are so natural, handsome, polite and nice. Dave and Alan look like best friends. Why did it have to end… Alan is biting his nails and playing with his (beautiful) long fingers all the time 😅 But he’s so sweet ❤️
As Alan shares here, DM's videos and songs capture the human side with much 'emotion' in contrast to typical synthesizer themes of the day. And, I do love how Alan states how in America bands were sampling 'big chunks of other people' s songs which he thinks is wrong, ' while he humbly admits DM thinks it is a compliment went sampling bits of their songs. ❤
Dave "We're educating the Americans with good music. They don't have to listen to REO Speedwagon for the rest of their lives". This man is a jewel.. Too bad, SO many Americans missed the boat, but some of us were always in the import stores in NYC searching for something Other than...and never looked back
Yeah Americans are very sheltered when it comes to music but i cheer everyone who goes out and follows their curiosity to broaden their musical horizon and seeing what the world has to offer. Especially gems like Depeche Mode. ^_^ greetings from Germany.
3:10 Martin doesn't want to dictate everything. Once he's written the song, that's the most important thing for him. After that ... he doesn't mind other people almost taking over definitely something else, doing other things to it... There's still a lot of room to maneuver or do different things. - an comprehensive explanation of the Alan's role in DM sound.
It's interesting to hear them still talking wistfully about success in America when we now know that success was right around the corner.. the tour of 1987/88, then 101 concert video, then Violator, and then #1 with Songs of Faith and Devotion in 1993.
My mom infected me with DM in the early 80s. She told me how the concerts were and played me their music. I became a fan as a kid and I sill am to this day.
You can tell David is way more relaxed now. Allan is sitting there in the background thinking 🤔 about what David is saying and whether he agrees or if he needs to correct or add on to the conversation. Both of them had no idea 🤷♀️ that the audience didn’t care about the words but that they were into their MUSIC. What I mean is that they could of said whatever they wanted we still would of LOVE them as we do TODAY
And, they always remained Great for 'remaining small... very stylized... and personalized... (&) going out and using small cameras' as Dave and Alan say, here.
Alan's quite the fidgety one in this interview. He doesn't seem to be under the influence, so he must be anxious to get the interview over and done with, lol.
@@DxModel219not only that but he has always appeared somewhat shy in interviews also depending on when this was Alan was going through a lot of drama with a couple members and one moreso than the other
It's all throughout. Kind of annoying but whatever. That interviewer is the same clown that interviewed them at Puk and alluded that Daniel Miller was using them to further Mute's financial interests. Dave & the band did not take too kindly to that.
@@KuroMicra Well Even Alan disagreed with what he said but still. They get asked some really off the wall questions. The same dude asked Alan who his favorite member of DM was. That didn’t go over too well.
Most of the modern music now is a direct rip off of big chunks of other bands' work, most of the current "music" just sucks so bad and it breaks my heart. I used to love listening to KROQ and every day there was a great new synth tune coming out. It was so exciting, i loved music. but it's all gone now ever since grunge took over and then rap. Heartbreaking.
you should make sure that there are no other noises in the background, such as dogs barking or children. why do you leave a door open during an interview?
Your watermarks in the dead center of the video suck. Appreciate the video, but come on! It’s not like you people were the original producers of this content.
The video lags at times but the sound is fine.
Thanks for the upload! The quality is really nice
OMG ALAN LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL
Alan „Synth God“ Wilder 🎹👍
I am just here swooning over Alan 😍🥰
Me too 😂😂😅😅😅😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
Me too !!!! So handsome of them all 😅
And I'm swooning over hottie Dave 😍
Alan looks gorgeous 😍 Those big beautiful eyes 💙💙 An interesting interview, and both Alan and Dave are very well-spoken ❤️
Beautiful Alan… and I love his voice! 💗✨
He’s always been my favorite. He was the driving force in the band.
Good old days of the real Depeche Mode

Really rare gem here, thanks for the upload. Could listen to Alan talk about sampling all day long.
You're welcome

I'm sure Dave doesn't mind listening to REO or other 1970s stuff these days.

They r both beautiful people and I love their voices. Alan's so smooth and gentle.
I've been in love with ALAN since 1986.
They always seem very natural and genuine in interviews. It never seems scripted.
Interviewed by an open door to a primary school playground and a kennel.
Lol yep

That is an absolutely revealing truth.
Thank you.
Martin standing for the content; Alan representing the form.
Exactly and this happened with violator & SOFAD.... great ginius Alan.... The master
That Bomber Jacket is EVERYTHING! I want one.
They were unique even outside the music they made.
The band like no other.

And still selling out arenas almost 35 years later… they have no idea what’s in store for them 😊
Dear god Alan looks cute

Erotic? Little does Alan know that I think of him erotically as if it’s 1987 and I wasn’t even born that year. 😂🇬🇧

I liked that orange sticker guy at the end
Yep he`s great .Blink and you will miss him. He is great at hiding
Alan, was the sound of DM. They only tour because of the past songs.
I love A.W my fave aside from Martin❤❤❤❤
Did Alan pricked Andy with that kind of statement there 7:14? And that sly grin after he said it)
nah. Alan wanted to speak for the group. He didn’t like it when the true artists didnt get their fair share or recognitions
i wish they had come to india
