It was phenomenal. People wrote requests on scraps of paper during intermission and Daryl picked them up, went through them, and talked about which ones they would add to the show. They looked and sounded like they were having lots of fun. Several covers. Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” the O’Jays, “Money, Money, Money,” among others. Over 30 years ago and the memory is crystal clear. THE. BEST. DUO. EVER. Daryl Hall is one of the best songwriters in the business.

I get a little tear (or full blown ugly cry!) when listen to this song, Sara Smile. I had a German Shepherd mix dog named Sara that used to bare her teeth and smile when she was happy! I used to sing this song to her and make her smile. I had her for 15 wonderful years and she helped raise my kids. The best girl ever. I still mourn her 20 years later. I have to smile through the tears.
