When I think of the original dropout bear, in the debut of College dropout, I think of naïve Kanye. Pink Polo’s, Oversized shades and an artist with a ton of expectation stepping into the game.
There are a ton of pop culture references that tried out the mascot idea, but very few marketed them correctly. Kanye developed the imagery as something you can relate to. He developed a personality for this character, it wasn't just the punching bag for a sports team.
The imagery itself developed through the idea of indefinite devotion to music. Kanye was destined to be a multi degree college graduate, his mother Donda, was a college professor for the majority of her life.
Even Donda said that "It was drummed into my head that college is the ticket to a good life, For Kanye to make an album called `College Dropout,' it was more about having the guts to embrace who you are, rather than following the path society has carved out for you. And that's what Kanye did."

The College dropout serves as a message of how Kanye felt at the time. I bet so many students working at McDonald's (including me) wish that they could achieve something as big as Kanye, but they never did. I think everyone has the potential to do what he did with The College Dropout, but so many of us become busy with trying to find a job or ironically studying at college, that we lose our creativity and passion, something Kanye never lost.

You can literally do anything you want if you dedicate 8+ hours a day to it. Like when Kanye said "If I wanted to be in the NBA, I believe I could do it.". Of course, not everyone has the ability to dedicate that time and that money. Kanye spent years trying to not just stuck to making beats and he actually succeeded making his dream come true. Can you blame him for being arrogant?

I love Late Registration and most, if not all, of Kanye's projects.

@@ballin9458 in my opinion Jesus is King is a straight 10/10. I love it. It might not be the best musically but it's the best spiritually and shows his progression in his faith. Probably my favorite Kanye album personally.

That beat switch going into the delivery of that "and I'm back on my grind" verse is one of, if not the greatest moment in his whole catalogue for me, it never gets old.

The dropout trilogy is one of if not the most meaningful in hip hop to me personally and so my favorite between the three albums changes frequently, however right now I’d have to say that my ranking from best to least best would go:
Late registration
College dropout
Graduation

The graduation album cover made my childhood. I remember thinking that was Kanye west himself as the bear not knowing what he looked like yet. Stronger was my super hero music as I would fight imaginary bad guys in my backyard, flashing lights on a long night ride playing on the radio was magical nothing sounded like that at the time

Graduation was the first ever Kanye project I listened to in full after hearing songs like Gold Digger and Stronger by themselves and it was one of the single best decisions I’ve had music wise. Made me go and listen to every other project released at the time and wait for albums like TLOP, Ye, Kids See Ghosts, Jesus is King and Donda. Some of my best memories come from listening to that album on repeat with my friends driving late at night after a night out or whenever one of us were going through a rough time. Absolutely adore it, GOATED album.
The College Dropout is probably my favorite. I just love the vibes it gives off more than the other two albums. It's super inspiring for any young person who doesn't quite understand adult life but still has dreams and isn't entirely concerned with following the beaten path.
Graduation is my favorite because it's gives a unique vibe and has nearly no misses on the album. The beats give me an emotional and nostalgic feel like nothing else. True artistry
I love "Drunk and Hot Girls" and think that song is overhated.
To this day I still have College Dropout on my main playlist. Mainly because of it’s message of paving your own path, overcoming tragic events, taking risks and ultimately achieving your dream. It’s like a whole manifesto in a debut album.
That and I love albums with comedic elements to them
I think the one the I like the most would have to be The College Dropout. I love how playful Kanye gets with his approach to a lot of the song ideas on this project, songs like The New Workout Plan, Slow Jamz and Breathe in Breathe out. This album also has one of my favorite Kanye songs ever: Jesus Walks. From the genius sample flipping to the incredible quotables and overall sentiment of the song, absolutely amazing track.
I wish he used a bear for the MBDTF cover, like the one in your pfp
i've finally decided to make the journey through all of ye's albums over the last few months and graduation felt like the **chefs kiss** perfect climax for the drop out bear. kanye's finally made it and the production on this album speaks for itself. flashing lights literally transcended me to the 4th dimension 🐻
College dropout is my favorite for how much it defined him as an artist and was classic from the get-go. Last call being his best storytelling track that shows Kanye’s confidence in himself to take the victory lap before he released the album shows he knew he made an amazing album.
I love graduation, it feels so uplifting and hopeful, especially when contrasted to all of Kanye's later work

Out of the dropout trilogy, Late Registration has gotta be the one that speaks to me the most. I've felt a lot that I don't fit in, but I have big goals, so that album made me okay with those feelings. Really fantastic album.
I love graduation, the diverse music it has to offer is truly amazing!!!!! The favourite song off the album has to be either Flashing Lights or Can't Tell Me Nothing. The album itself is a work of art, telling the hard journeys that Kanye had to go through and finally graduating into stardom. Also, its my album of the year, because I am too graduating :D

I love the collage dropout because it gave us a taste of Kanye West and it really shaped him as a rapper.
College dropout is my favorite Kanye album, and one of my favorites ever, it's insane to me how an album can be so heavily raw and so fun at the same time, and I noticed that life is just like that, which makes me love this album even more.

It’s hard to pick a favorite, not because I like every song, but because each song definitely hits a certain chord with me in a certain period of my life. If I were to pick one though it would be Graduation. I listened to that all the way until my own actual graduation, and the songs and melodies are just hopeful and victorious.

I have the Graduation dropout bear as my phone case, and it looks perfect and always reminds me of how much I love Graduation. I also really got into Kanye in 2019 and started college the same year, and those albums really got me through those early days when I wanted to give up, and sleepless nights working on assignments. Graduation has a great soft spot for me though. My best friend and I got into Kanye at the same time, and back in 2019 we went out practically every week to clubs, bars, and the casino and we always just played flashing lights and the whole album on playback during those days, so i’ll always be reminded of those times because of Graduation and I can say that those were some of the best times in my life.

College Dropout really highlighted a large part of my youth and teenage years man. Went through hell and back with my headphones in and the beats on loop. Good ass times... You only really appreciate those moments after the fact but we should strive to appreciate the moments as they happen.

Graduation for sure if my favorite Kanye album, it reminds me of childhood, being in elementary school and having a brother who was in high school. he would play many songs from this album on the way and back from school to home. it holds a special place for me along with many albums.

A year late to the video, but this is really good! I love the editing and how you tell the story of the bear, and it is interesting to see how it goes. I feel you could've included the 4th Kanye album that would've happened if his mom hadn't died, Good Ass Job, but overall great video!
GRADUATION with out a doubt, I love the use of synthesizers used during many of the productions of songs. A great example is I Wonder and Flashing Lights.
Graduation is on of my favorite albums, along with College Dropout and Late Registration. I can relate to these albums because I’m, for one, a college student and for two, I always felt that I couldn’t fit in anywhere with anyone. However, for three, when I do graduate from college soon, I can at least reflect on the things I have accomplished and my time in college.

Late Registration is my favorite out of the Kanye College trilogy and his discography. He's able to be versatile in his rapping past what he did in College Dropout and more so. It was also one of the first albums I listened to by him, and made me appreciate Ye as an artist.
Graduation is a classic for me, and it still shows relevancy and significance a decade later. Some of my favorite songs are on there as well, so I’ll go with graduation.

My fisrt love was Gaduation but now its Late Registration but at any moment it can change back and forth or maybe College Dropout might be my favorite later. These albums are so complex and formed me as a person Im alwayss going to love these albums and listen to them. College Dropout is where it started. Graduation got me through the toughest time of my life and I always listen to it when I need motivation honestly it also brought me out of my shell socially and Late Registration is fun and the one I relate to the most. The College Drop-Out specifically because of all the personal connections I have to it when it released. I used to hear the singles on the radio while doing dishes working at Starbucks and dreaming about a better, more individual life and that specific theme as you mentioned was very poignant to me. I also met my best friend back then discussing him and the album. Me and other friends would rap over the final song all the time for fun because it goes on forever. It will just always remind me of that time when I was 17-18.
My favorite out of the bear trilogy is Graduation because I love the album cover and the music that’s in it, a lot of songs I can never get bored of and that’s why it’s one of my favorite Kanye albums
The College Dropout will forever hold a special place in my heart. Amazing debut album & so fucking unique. I bought a college dropout hoodie and wear it to college. Makes a lot of heads turn.
My favorite iteration of the dropout bear had to have been The College Dropout, I will always miss how carefree and interesting he is on that album. While everything following it strayed more and more away from being just a kid making music, the College Dropout was just Kanye at his most wondrous. Still love most of his other albums, but that album is very special and close to my heart.

All three albums are amazing but i find myself listening to graduation the most simply the the memories i had being a 16 year old, exploring the streets of tokyo whiles at the same time exploring Kanye’s vast catalogue of different music styles.
By far one of my favourite songs from graduation would have to be “i wonder” listen to that song when i was younger and even now felt very personal and resinated with me in a way no other song had ever resinated with me before and i think is the reason im such a massive ye fan now, buying 2 new yeezys this year and buying 2 vinyls one being graduation from the span of this year and the last.
My favourite is Late Registration; just back to back unskippable tracks. TCL is a close second though, just for its impact and some of the great moments on that album: “Through the Wire”, “Jesus Walks” etc.
