I recommend using a hair dryer on the art to make the wax less striped on the paper and more clumped together!
So, I looked it up: Crayola started adding a built-in sharpener to their 64ct boxes in *1958*.
I remember the sharpeners, but I thought it wasn't a thing until the 90s. I probably had never had a box big enough to include a sharpener until then.

I originally commented thinking the sharpener was something relatively new but looked it up and guess it's been around some 58.
I knew there was a sharpener on the big boxes but I don't think there is on small ones? Unless I am wrong. But I'm used to the small ones and wouldn't be surprised if that is the same with a good chunk of the people who didn't know

Oh my gosh! I literally used crayons when I was at my friend's house to draw a miniature version of Van Gogh's Starry Starry night! I just feel like crayons just radiate his style.

I mean this looks great but def not a masterpiece compared to his other stuff. A masterpiece is something that shows the full extent of an artists skill and technique, which would more describe his watercolor paintings, not a crayon doodle he did.

Although a positive part of many childhood memories for some reasons crayons have been frowned upon as just kid-stuff and not for serious artists. Recall during my years studying industrial design, building rendering skills, and every so often someone would buy elite materials then expected great results. So hopeful.

When I color with crayons I always make sure to rotate it and use every side so I keep the point and I never have to sharpen it.

In my defense, I've never had a 64 pack of Crayola crayons in my possession before, so that's why I didn't know about the sharpener
I've seen many artists use these timeless crayons professionally. I might give it a go someday as an alternative to colored pencils.

I use oil pastels and also still love Crayola Crayons (and other Crayola products). I have some Caran D’Ache crayons too. They’re all great for different types of art and coloring.

I always wanted a 64 pack, I also wanted a zoobooks subscription, but I didn't get that either. We are middle class, we could have afforded a lot of things, but that's not a financially responsible way to raise a family

Crayons were suchhh a huge part of my childhood, I remember having a giant tub of them. Every so often we would take left over crayons and put them in molds to melt together to make giant star shaped crayons and heart shaped crayons, etc. I’ve recently got back into traditional art, and I really want to use crayons now, this video gave me so much inspiration!
