- Ever wondered about the homes of the super ultra mega rich people in Singapore? This video explores some of the richest estates in Singapore, from showing the most expensive homes in Singapore to the homes of the some of the most notable figures in the world.
While its easy to fall prey to comparing our houses (aka flats) or our lives to the houses or lives of the rich, we should always remind ourselves that everyone grows at their own pace. :) (At least that's what I tell myself). Anyways, its only fair that the people living in these luxurious houses reward themselves for the efforts they put into building their wealth, whether its buying mansions in Singapore or putting the money in the bank. It makes me feel inspired ^^

Thanks for the video. private property has been basically out of reach for the middle class for the last 20-30 years. most middle class have to settle for HDB or condos. guess the gap is just widening. good news is that for the majority of us , a good public transport , 3+ meals & a roof plus good security is almost guaranteed. cheers

@@jdfd4906 yup. That’s kinda the price range. Looking at a 20year loan after 20% down - if one still qualifies for the loan , we are looking at close to 400k a year in mortgage.
Only C- level staff or medium size SME bosses could explore this type of housing. Space will always remain a premium in land scarce Singapore.
At least there are no huge repair costs for HDB.

The land itself is more expensive than the house I guess... But what impress me is that Singapore despite have land scarcity did turn out like hong kong ... No such thing as a cage home in SG despite having similar density to Hong Kong... SG citizen can still can afford to live in a decent size HDB no matter their economic status...

Well-researched video backed by facts and figures! Would've been good to briefly explain what gives a house GCB status.
GCB is land big house (comparatively) small. Let's say a 20k sq feet land but the house built in the middle occupying less than 50% of the plot of land, that usually is GCB (and most detached houses in Bukit Timah falls under this category).

My house in Malacca has 10,000 sq ft bungalow and is very cheap only. And I have all the tropical fruit trees like musang king, guava, papaya, rambutan, mangosteen, and even vegetables.

After working for more than 10 years, BTO is actually affordable at ocr/rcr. BTO 4/5 room HDB is also a stepping stone to private property (of cos excluding GCBs😅).

the purpose of GCB is to provide expensive toys for ultra rich to buy. On paper it seems that the price per square foot is similar to a private condo, but actually we are subsidizing the ultra rich because the amount of land they own can be converted to high rise apartment which is few more times larger in total built up area. heck even if the land is built for HDB the total price would be higher than just one house. government is just trying to protect the ultra rich here and we are paying for it
Without the ultra rich setting up their company in sg, how many jobs are lost? That's a high cost to pay as well
Just remember wuth hard wirk and determination all of us should be able to buy.... hdb flat and still cant affford these houses.
