    Awesome idea and a great example of how early "training" can start to be done and how "training" can be about practical and fun things that are just part of your dog's life.

    What a cute little fella! Malinois' are the best tracking dogs in my opinion and so disciplined. Ive seen a malinois smoke 3 bloodhounds and a german shepard on a trail looking for a fugitive and was still hot on the trail when every other dog lost the scent.

    Love a dog that can track. I never tracked game with any of mine, but one of mine used to break out of the house all the time, he was an escape artist! hah, digging holes to busting boards on fences to biting through chain-link fencing, he loved breaking out. But, he would always come back home just before dusk, scratching at the door. Only time he didnt was when a neighbor picked him up and took him inside, called us and told us he had him.

    My fox terrier is really good at this, I take her deer hunting and she is both able to track deer down and find a way back out of the bush. The bush I hunt in is really thick as well, normally I can't see more than 20m ahead.

    This was an awesome video, please keep them coming. To this day I am still amazed at how smart dogs are, even though I keep seeing examples both with my dogs and other people's dogs. David K Like you, I laugh every time I hear that bogus advice. We're training our dogs 24/7/365 from the second they meet us whether we think we are or not. It's best to have a training plan from the start and one that has long term goals in mind.

      TWANGnBANG
      Absolutely! Before I got my first dog, I had a long list of what I wanted my dog to do and not do. That really helps with life long consistency. The one thing that changed was that they both now sleep on the bed... I swore that would never happen, but they have a way of getting into your heart don't they... Enjoy your awesome dog! You can check my dogs out on my channel if you want.

      David K The General has slept in bed with me from day 1! :) He's actually a great sleeper with a big bladder for a puppy, thankfully. If he gets antsy in bed, I take him out, but most nights he snoozes until I'm getting up anyway, then takes a ginormous pee when we go outside. :)

    very impressive! nice dog. i love my german shepherd. he's protection/attack trained and comes from a very good bloodline of KSP(kentucky state police) dogs. do german shepherds have this same ability or are mals better suited for tracking?

    • @TWANGnBANG
      @TWANGnBANG  7 лет назад +1

      You should never refer to your dog as "attack trained." First of all, it is not trained to attack- it's trained to protect. We don't refer to police or bodyguards as "attack trained," and they do the exact same job. Second, if your dog were to bite anyone for any reason, the fact that you're telling people it's "attack trained" will absolutely be used against you and your dog and might cost him his life even if he was protecting you.
      GSDs are great tracking dogs, but like with anything, it's best to start them young.

    • @BLINC606
      @BLINC606 7 лет назад

      TWANGnBANG it's my first dog i've had trained to this extent so i didn't really know the terminology was a big deal. to be fair, attacking is what they do..
      We don't refer to police as "Attack trained" true, but you're telling me they're not trained to attack? I'm not saying my dog is an "Attack dog" i was just saying it's trained to attack if needed. it's not a big deal. Sure if it bit someone and i was saying that i'm sure it would get used against me but my dog isn't going to be biting anyone.
      Technically, you're right about the terms but i don't see it as that big of a deal and i see dogs that are highly trained from reputable kennels/trainers referred to that all the time.

    • @TWANGnBANG
      @TWANGnBANG  7 лет назад +1

      "Attack" as a dog term is a HUGE deal. It's the "assault weapons" of protection dogs. Until you spend more time in the dog world to believe me, just do yourself a favor and stick with "protection," as that is the only reason your dog should bite anyone.

    • @BLINC606
      @BLINC606 7 лет назад

      TWANGnBANG And that is the only reason it would ever bite anyone.
      So you're telling me i should call my AR15 a protection rifle rather than an assault rifle because that's the only purpose it will serve?
      I'm not really arguing that i'm right, i realize "protection trained" is the proper term. i would just like to know what's so bad about saying a dog is trained to attack.

    • @TWANGnBANG
      @TWANGnBANG  7 лет назад +1

      808sand Blvke It's a rifle. Period. It doesn't do anything on its own. You do. If you use it to assault someone, you assaulted someone with your rifle. If you use it to protect yourself, you protected yourself with your rifle. Dogs act for themselves, so yes, a dog can indeed be an attack dog, which is how sentry dogs are trained. They see a person, and they immediately attack regardless of what that person is doing.
      A dog that bites someone only in to defend someone is called a "protection dog" because they are doing the act of protecting. Attacking takes no provocation. Protecting requires that someone else begins the violence.
      I'm done arguing a settled matter with you. Believe me or don't, but if you ever get into serious dog training, you're going to catch a lot of crap for saying you have an attack dog. Worse, as I've already told you, it WILL be used against you in court if your dog bites someone and the plaintiff's lawyer gets wind of your dog's "attack training."

      roy7420 Malinois are cheaper for the same drive level, though most people really can't handle the physical and mental demands of a high drive working dog. Be sure you have a training support group in place before getting either because both you and your dog will be so much happier.

    as long as he is in a fenced off area which other animals cannot get to, it is safe for this puppy to be out and running around but until he is 19 weeks of age (the last two vaccines given 3-4 weeks apart and the last one being on or after 16 weeks of age), he can get parvo as well as any of the other core diseases (DHPP) and lepto very easily if allow out in to public areas. I would highly recommend you not to take him out to public places until then.

      silverfd parvo will live on the sidewalk in direct sunlight for over a year, in organic material it will survive for over 3.

      silverfd Not a reasonable thing to do with a high energy, high drive dog like a Malinois. He's been vaccinated including parvovirus twice already and will be getting his third combo vaccine on Friday. Thanks for your concern!

      TWANGnBANG its not how many shots he has gotten, its when they were given. take it from a licensed veterinarian, he will not be safe until 19 weeks of age. just remember, you are free to choose but you are not free of the consequences of your choices. Parvo on average cost $5-10k to treat and less then half will survive it. Also, if he gets lepto, you can get lepto... I can give you case reports where lepto has killed a full grown man in 3-4 days.
      I hope he does not get any of the disease mentioned but he is still very at risk as his current age. (that is a scientific fact). You have no idea how many puppies I have had to euthanasia due to these diseases!
