    Yes there are mozzies but I love the action of the dragonflies early in the morning while I feed the koi and enjoy my coffee. When is your birthday Kev? I never forget a birthday and thanks to you I have a fabulous koi pond. I have already given you a donation but I want to do it for the rest of my life :every year! My pond is crystal clear... Kev is the bog filter king!

    Hi Kev. I just wanted to thank you for your videos on bog filters. I live in England and have a tiny garden. A couple of years ago I bought a shallow "butlers sink" to make a small water feature. Long story short, the water keeps turning green, so, after watching your video, decided to make a bog filter. It was reasonably easy to make and only took a few hours to complete. That was last Saturday, so has been in use for a week. I'm being patient and waiting to see if the water clears. Thanks again for all your videos. Trev 🇬🇧😊

      Hi, I made a small half barrel pond last year and had the same problem so followed Kevs video and made a bog filter, took three or four days for the water to clear then three weeks for it to be crystal clear and it’s stayed like this ever since 😀

    You’re spot on Kev, thank you for this informative video, we have water butts and these attract mosquitoes, but the pond we’re building will have lots of features to attract dragonflies and damselflies with the hope they’ll reduce the mosquito population, and this is in the Uk

    I find your videos help to keep me on track while our new pond matures. I've been looking for info on waterfalls pro\con experinces. Seems that the pond temps go up from the heat of the day with the falls on and not so much when they are off. With this impact, I'm looking at supplemental O2 solutions. The 9 inch KOI avoid the small bubbler so I'm considering a wave fan to push water from the bottom 24" to the top to absorb O2 and move gases up to the surface. So little practical solutions out there. Your videos help me to keep it as natural & maint free as possible.

    Hi, thank you for the great video. Could you please make a video on how to solve KOI pond parasites related
    issue?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  Год назад +1

      I cannot do one specific to koi. I’m not allowed to keep them, they are an illegal species in my state.

    hello, I live in Europe, Macedonia, where the climate is quite harsh in winter, up to -18 degrees C, and in summer it goes up to +40 degrees C. I would like to build a natural pond, but I don't know how it would work in summer in this heat.

    I've never seen any mozzies in my pond that runs a bog filter. Lots of dragon flies though. They tend to prefer the bog section (I leave a a bit of water above the gravel for dragon flies and local amphibians)
    It's late spring here in blighty and I've been thinking of running a small splash pool using a bog filter. Has anyone ever tried anything similar?

    Damn I love your ponds. I have to use my mums garden for my pond fetish. I have made her pond a wonderful wildlife pond (in 🇬🇧) full of newts, frogs and dragon flies. I introduced rice fish and they are in my opinion much better than goldfish, as rice fish do they are breeding and being outside their colours enhanced. Never had a problem with mosquitoes. Only predator is the cat who waits for the dragonflies to appear whilst sat on her bridge.
