And people need to remember that we are way too used to insane laptimes nowadays but cars with such impressive times are sitting inches from the ground, have aero, semi slicks, track focused suspension etc. For road driving i would take something a bit more relaxed with no fancy wings, no stiff suspension, sitting on some Pilot Primacies with a manual all day.

The cup2 is doing decently both, even if there are better tires. Mentioned trofeo R are a risk in the rain, while yoko are behaving very well except for aquaplaning. For the rest...I agree, but then what is the point of SportAuto? TO show what exactly? I own and Exige V6 S (used on track) and I was evaluating the Supra as a replacement. THis test would have been nice, but in this way it is completely unuseful (even if all people that go on track knows perfectly that the cars can be tuned easily and laptimes around Ring means nothing)

that was a production car driven by factory driver god knows how many atempt and it was on cup2 tires and even then there was rumor about cheating since no one has yet to come anywhere close to those numbers in the real world.

What were you expecting? Even they call it "GT4", the Supra is not tuned for the racetrack and it comes on pretty normal tires. 7:54 is absolutely ok for a car like this

Ultimately all three of them are still tied by physics, r33 and the mkv have similar power and weight, and the formers awd probably compensates quite a lot for the older tires, and in this regard the ctr also ran grippier tires than the supra shown here. If you want to see "progress" then you can look at the current m4 xdrive, if that can be called progress, well, up to the individual i guess.
