Yep, this is NOT the album version. It's a whole other recording. They recorded demos at Mangrove Studio *_before_* recording with David Botrill later. This is one of those demos. Daniel's demos are always gorgeous to me...almost better than the album versions. For instance, definitely look up the demo to One Way Mule. It's fucking brutal...far more than even the album version. Also...the demos for Young Modern are insanely good...much better than the album imo.
I've been looking for the demo of "All Accross the World" for a long time. Only heard a part of it on one of their "Making of" videos and it is more laid back and beatles-esque. Definitely better than the album version.
I think by "demo" what is meant is that it's the band version without Van Dyke Parks. There are other mixes of the same songs where his parts are loud and the band is virtually nonexistant. So I'm not 100% at all that it's actually a different version of the song from the Diroama version, it's just a different mix. The same applies to the other "demos" from Diorama, if you notice they're all the ones VDP is on.
