Even knowing how much rehearsal goes into a routine like this, it still feels like a jam session. Keeping that flow and spontaneity while playing a piece rehearsed to this level is remarkable.
I like how there's the contrast of loose and flowing with the tightly organized and precise machine, and somehow being able to do both at the same time.
@@Will-ox1ol Yeah, they're in WGI. I was in groups in WGI since high school. I won 3 gold medals and a silver medal in the PSCW class in high school. Then marched PIO for 3 years in Palmetto Percussion, then I aged out and was on staff the next year when they won gold in PIO.
@@Zyz804 I said I liked them. Ive been drumming since I was 6 , I play , I have double bass , Ludwig drumset , was 11 piece , now its ten , I like theese dudes . , its the my favorite!
Omg...they are Awesome....Great n More....Loved this clip....the beat made my heart happy...I so much needed to hear them...today my hubby 10 month promoted to heaven....he knew now much drums meant to me. And Ironically i ran into this clip...RIP My US Army Sgt. Daniel Silva Jr. Luv u n miss ya..... Thanks guys for my smile!
More than just drums. This is music! Choreography! What an audio-video show. A true showcase for drummers, congueros, timbaleros, cymbalists of any stripe. Standing O.
Wow, incredible. Your stick control was so good, I could hardly tell singe from double strokes. And those single stroke runs down the line were with so much precision Great stuff.
As a Bronco and Wolverine alumnus who played in marching bands I love listening to these guys. In the beginning the field drums are warming up but then WOW , they kick into full cadence mode - crisp and percussion at its finest!
561guy yep I’m a Wildcat and I must say , MDFS have totally evolved over the years. Years ago I actually thought they were boring because they didn’t present a lot of flash and funk if you know what I mean. These days, there able to combine fundamental playing with showmanship . it’s always a winner
This is by far my favorite drumline their bass splits be unbelievable. And the snares and quads are as clean as any drum line i have ever seen seriously.
this is how to wake up in the morning - with rythm, funk, and thunder - an amazing drum roll!.. ( and i play african drums but this got me moving!!! much gratitude!
Well done Cameraman please pan the whole band when an event of this nature comes back around, front, back, side to side. Showcase these youth doing it big. They all killed it!!!.
this is my favorite, i love all your drum rolls and fills , the way you work together to get that nice big sound. i play drums in bands all my life , not playing now , my ludwigs are in a friends crawl space.
My new morning get up and move video. I ADORE drum lines. The precision of every single movement. Could go on and on, but I won't. I suddenly have this urge to put my phone DOWN and go do something constructive. ✌
coming from a corps style dude, this is the perfect balance of technicality and showmanship. very impressive and musical, my favorite drumline that is kind of hbcu style
Wow! That was certainly impressive to watch and hear. The amount of practice and the choreography that those people have perfected is amazing. Well done all.👍👍🇨🇦
Hurts me to say this, but MDFS may be the best of all HBCU Drumlines. 1. MDFS2. Bongo Brothers3. Sudden Impact4. Cold SteelThis order can change at any moment, but I believe these 4 to be the absolute best.....MDFS is just on another level though. Just my opinion.
Jay Battz yes, they are nice period!! Very nice!!! I am a mean dude, but that line is crazy. Saw them in El Paso a few years back and I was pleasantly surprised!
I went into this with low expectations just because it was a university and high standards on my part but dang this was very unique in its own way and just amazing! Crazy rudiments and choreography in general
From a former drummer and writer; This is some very sophisticated coordination of rhythm and movement. Very Impressive Norfolk State Drumline!
I would so much rather watch this at the halftime of the Super Bowl than some million dollar pop music production
THANK YOU. YES. LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
Been saying this for years. Have a drum line battle instead of pop music crap.
seriously yes
Well said
Lmboooo
It is disturbing how on point these guys are, incredible!
Crazy
They are all good, especially the guy in the green track-suit wearing a baseball cap.
i agree.
@@davidstevens8343 Now that's FUNNY!!! :)
I was thinking the same thing lol

Celui avec un dollar dans la poche gauche ,où celui avec des sous vêtement noir et gris ???

Absolutely
Im amazed that many people can be tha cooridated.
This is no jam session. This is an arrangement note for note.
Yes - that was my point.

Anybody who could thumbs down this kind of talent has no talent. Great job guys.

Whoever came up with bass splits needs to win a Grammy.
They really do!!!
K M on god they do
K M what is a bass split?
@@bobbiemoss566 when then go down the line basically.
@@jaredpnk you mean ripples?
One of the better "show" style drum lines I've seen on my RUclips rabbit hole. Nothing cheesy, pretty clean, and entertaining.
ChrisWithACam have you heard of Pulse Percussion?

the 272 dislikes must have been the other teams on the benches. This was stunning. Mouth wide open the whole way through !

Wolf 3019 no the one with the green with white stripes hat and jacket
silence is the applause at these things. the audience is made up of their competition! it means everything.
If I was the other school I would have just got back on the bus smh.
aj3blt spit on my phone laughing at you!
Especially if you on bass line 😭😭
yea but naw they won't trying to battle none of us after this when NCCU blocked up infant of the gym or in the bus loop
Hahahaa!!!!
Yep. Back on the bus and switch to the clarinet.
Talk about precision and timing,WOW!! I’ve been playing drums for 40 years and this is impressive.
started watching boat restorations and ended up on here,JUST BRILLIANT thanks from the UK
I started with trumpets and Gunhild Carling and ended up here....
These guys seem to be more relaxed then in the past. Magnificent execution and such a great talent to mix show style with DCI... Proud of NSU

Every time I hear this band I am in awe of the precision cascades of rolls they get with the different pitched drums. Truly brilliant drumming.
If someone else won this comp, I GOTTA SEE THAT VIDEO !!!! Holy Shit this was amazing. One of the few times I thank the algorithm .
Straight FUNKY! Like between Ole School Hip Hop and P-Funk...when they made Real music.
Thank You!
every few months i go down a drum line rabbit hole.. glad i could start here this time.. GG peeps

Fred Read and that’s how it’s supposed to be
THOSE QUAD DRUM SYNCHROS....my god. My high school band would have an aneurysm watching those three play.....I geeked out so much watching them
Idk man, my high school has some pretty damn good quad drum players
tenors put on the best stick show. they're playing multiple drums at once, but get no air time....
This gave me goosebumps... Unbelievable. Very tight. Wow!!
Incredible, amazing, awesome, WOW. That was something else. Well done.
I don't want it to stop!!!!! Just literally made me feel 30 years younger! Man... Ima be sore tomorrow!
Thats skill and showmanship. A lot of time put in for this perfection. Best of the best !
That is the dopest drumline performance i ever seen in my life. The bass drum split was godly and supernatural!! Unbelievable!!
Sweet Jesus, thank you for the gift of hearing !!!! !
If I was in the other bands or school I would have changed my uniform and put on a green and gold shirt lol
aj3blt I damn near spit on my phone laughing at your comment!
Fuckin' bass drums are killin' it. Rippin' riffs and 6's and rolls and banging a deep pocket at the same time!!!!!
So glad I can say I played for this section.
13 years earlier lol.
Question: What's that dance move starting at 7:35 called?
Dancer: "Funk It Up!"
Drummer: Wrong answer, mate. It's called the Paradiddle.
PenguinMcDuck I SEE WHAT YOU DID YOU THERE
**NICE**
I read “Funk It Up!” right when the guy in the video said it.🤣
Makes me proud to be a drummer. The drummer brotherhood!!!
Oh my goodness. This music and showmanship is incredible!!! Wow you all do a great job. A treat to watch and hear.
Still one of the best percussion sections I've seen...nice work!!!

I don’t know how clean this is relative to their own expectations, but as a long retired brass player this is friggin ridiculous.
Dam that was perfect whoever came up with this choreography was dam on point.... never seen swac on point like this that hold thing was great
The first instrument is the voice. The second is the drum! And once the drums start dancing is mandatory.
I'm a huge BCU fan but man this squad something serious

If only wars could be won by this, pure bliss.
That's how it used to be in pre-Rome Italy. Both armies would put on a show of strength, and usually one would retreat.
Wow, fantastic, brilliant coordination, I can only imagine how much training went into that, absolutely brilliant!
Bravo! Pure excellence from very classy drummers! Nice job
