This dish represents all what Japanese cooking bought me with; balanced and delicious nutrition value from humble ingredients, using simple technic. Thanks for sharing.
Looks delicious and pretty easy to prepare! I’m vegetarian so I’ll prepare this recipe without the meat. I really enjoy your videos. Best regards from Los Angeles, California.😊
Greetings Taiji from Rhode Island (the smallest state in America)! I've recently become obsessed with Japanese cuisine and the excitement of such an array of flavor from such simple ingredients. I can see that this recipe will most assuredly be no different. The execution seems quite straight forward which makes me excited to try this. I'm so happy I found your channel a few months ago and I always look forward to your new uploads. I saw another comment that referenced your "Slurp Alert" and I have to say, it's one of the highlights of your videos. It basically says "This is delicious and I'm enjoying it." Continue to slurp - it never fails to bring a smile to my face!
I am from Poland and I cook according to your recipes because you cook in a simple home-style way, and most of your ingredients can be found in my city or at the nearby Asian grocery store. This udon is awesome, bro.
Florida is where I am, lmk if you'd ever like to visit Disney World lol. Anyway, your video was relaxing as always and this dish requires less steps than your usual video but equally desirable. Thanks for sharing 😊
8:52 years Susan Huang, Hi from Shanghai. Enjoyed this lesson in producing a simple and balanced meal. Your descriptions and explanations are always clear and systematic and your approach is flexible to encourage people to substitute ingredients when they need to. The dish was healthy, attractive on the plate and satisfying. I’d say that’s a Mission Accomplished!
been watching your cooking videos a lot lately. thank you especially for the white rice and miso soup recipes. never knew miso soup was so easy to make, and how improperly i've been cooking rice all these years. the easy yakisoba recipe is also a good one. gonna try this one and miso-nikomi udon next. my kitchen resides in the middle of nowhere oklahoma where asian cooking isn't very common. thank you for the lessons.
This is a wonderful basic recipe that anyone can customize according to their preferences and what vegetables are in the refrigerator. I do find it just a bit bland as written, but with the freshest ingredients picked from my garden, it becomes very delicious Thank you for sharing such a versatile meal. The best thing to do about those who dislike noodle slurping is to ignore them without a second thought. Good for you!
You r sooo talented man ,just saw your home tour vid. & loved it.👍👍👍👏me watching from Pakistan.kindly tell about your home plants too . beautiful japanese living & culture.u people are really concerned about cleanliness, preserving water ,this is what i got from ur vids.
I love udon noodles but have never had them fried. I'll definitely be going shopping and will follow your recipe. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. Be blessed! 😊🌻 I'm watching you from a small town in the state of Kansas, USA.
i LOVE that ive found a food tuber FROM GERMANY doing japanese cuisine!!!!! it makes it so much easier to follow for me because i actually recognize the regular brands you are using and even most of the specifically japanese/asian ingredients are stuff that ive seen in my local asia market. greetings from Darmstadt! ps: what do you think of the "all groo" brand of instant udon they sell here? they have vacuum packed wet udon and despite that an incredible shelf life. ive always got a couple of packs in the fridge for the "emergency hot soup" desire.
Hello sir i love watching you videos and i like the way you explain Can you make a video on like if we have to come japan and like travel then what will be the budget and what are the places we should go like that .... Arigatoo
I watched your video about the history of Japanese cuisine. It would be interesting to me if you gave a little background on the dishes you make. Does it have a connection to the more ancient cuisine, or is it a more recent phenomenon? Not necessarily every time but if there is an interesting development it would be fun to hear.😊
thanx for the advice! I actually try to do exactly that, lol. bc many Japanese dishes have some kind of interesting background story how it got evolved. but this Yaki udon doesnt have much, rather new developed in the last 100 years or so as a street food.
Would you consider adding some ginger, garlic, and just a drop of toasted sesame seed oil to this? Also, if one guest wanted spicy what would you suggest having on hand?
Ginger,no.don’t fit. For spicy I’d advice chop some chili, not chili powder, since chili powder have a smell that will interfere. Sesame oil a few drops would do, drops, it’s strong
That looks so good, and so easy. And I am so sorry that people have given you a hard time about slurping, which is so normal in Asian culture. (Get out of your own backyards, rude Americans! Cultures and traditions vary around the world!) On no other channel do I see "slurp alerts," and it saddens me you think you have to do that in order to appease your rude viewers. (I'd love to see you forgo that practice, frankly. They need to get over it.) I think having everything in place is imperative to the success of this dish. You can't be finishing up chopping the vegetables and looking for the soy sauce as your first batch of veg is cooking - you'll end up with a wilted soggy mess. You are a good teacher. Thank you for this video and I hope you enjoy your upcoming weekend.
Looks simple and easy and yummy. But here's a question I've wanted to ask for a while. Why is the slurping necessary? Can't you just put the food in your mouth without having to slurp or suck it in. I do.
it is not "necessary" but just a way we eat. it actually taste better, since you inhale more air with the food, making the smell reach more in the nose. people (also in the west) slurp, when they do coffee or wine tasting. so its just a preference/cultural thing, and in Japan slurping is accepted i.e. encouraged. so I am showing here in this channel not only how we cook, but also how we eat. but as in the video, I apologize, if it bothers you.
Please try to add Japanese vegetarian cooking in your videos. We in India being Brahmins eat only eat vegetarian still love Japanese food. It's great if you can show pure vegetarian dishes on your channel.
Another great video. Watching from South Carolina USA. Can't wait for the next video.
thanx!! currently im quite busy with my main job, it might take a while...

Hallo aus Berlin 🖐 Das sieht lecker aus. Jetzt hab ich hunger...
Danke danke!!
I love your dish because it can be made vegetarian. Love your cooking.
Looks awesome! Next should be the buckwheat ramen noodles :)
delicious
Can I use soba noodles
You can make Yakisoba sauce or Tonkatsu sauce homemade or buy it in a bottle
In Osaka i never saw only soya used
There is
Yakisoba sauce. Its like worchestire sauce sauce but a thicker sweeter consistency.

hahaha, ja genau, nie meine Videos angucken, bevor du gegessen hast!!
danke für den Tipp, probiere ich mal!
Darf ich fragen, welchen Reis Sie in Deutschland verwendet haben?

Still…..if u want, you could fry the ginger with sesame oil, but I’d left out soy sauce. Making it a different dish
@@albertage1231 thank you!
This would be good with bonito flakes, or ginger, maybe even mirin. Canada
yup, all of those are good variations of Yaki udon!
Watching you from Chicago, US. Great channel.

dont worry, I am not getting any hard time, but thanx!
I'm guessing that Yakisoba is the same dish just with soba instead of udon, correct?
jup, and Yakisoba (or Okonomi) sauce instead of soy sauce.

I never had fried tofu (you mean Aburaage, right?) in my recipe, but of course you can add it to your version!

Taiji is not wrong. You cook the pork by that much before you add the vegetables. By doing that, the vegetables and the pork will be cooked perfectly.
