Twenty-five years ago, "Have I Got News for You" was regarded as edgy and anti-establishment. Today, it is the embodiment of the establishment, and Ian Hislop and Paul Merton are about as edgy as marshmallows.

Years ago I stopped watching; 'Mock the Week', HIGNFY' and BBC Question Time as all are biased towards the left. Oh and C4's 'Last Leg'.

If the program has a bias, it will attract a studio audience that has that bias. If they were "selected" only half of them would laugh. Andrea's observation was correct but for the wrong reason. I no longer watch it. It's retirement is long overdue.

I had the misfortune of witnessing Hislop having a hissy fit some years ago at a bowling alley in Enfield where I bowled in a league,

If Hislop or HIGNFY actually were properly on the ball over satire - they would confronted her on her support over the lockdowns and the Vs, and how much of a disaster that was for the UK - and how it's largely Johnson's fault. But alas - Hislop, HIGNFY and Hislop's beloved magazine(Private Eye) all supported those things - even though I kind of suspect they knew it was all rubbish and not going to end well. That just shows you the true nature of the man.

Christopher Biggins was on and he brought Benny up seeing as he was the first big name victim of cancel culture then Wootton just ignored it and nixed the chance to bring Benny into the discussion.
Agree with him or not, Ian Hislop has the perfect right in a democratic society to defend Keir Starmer, however bad Sir Keir is doing as Prime Minister. But people who complain GB News is right wing and biased do not have to watch it and watch instead other channels whose opinions they agree with more. They certainly have plenty of choices to do so.

Representative audience to the BBC is not by vote count but by MP representation. So 5 MPs for Reform means maybe 3 audience members are "allowed"
