    i know it might be an attempt to convince myself, but ear me out: what if the scientology bit is actually 4d chess? i mean: maybe she was born into it and knows some stuff, hopefully not engaged in it. but maybe she doesn't distance herself because it would lead to scientology acting against her. so she might not be able to talk (and i mean condemning practices or distancing altogether). BUT instead all of this comes to light and gets the attention on the matter as a whole. like purposefully not saying a thing so we get our minds back to "scientology baaaaad".
    and about the moments she let the audience sing, especially in "waiting for the end", i am conveinced that she did not try to save her voice but was so immensly moved emotionally by the situation, the track, the lyrics and everything around it so she just couldn't sing because of some suppressed crying. try to watch it again and look at her reaction.

    Linkin Park did think this through.
    Read the lyrics to The Emptiness Machine and apply them to the backlash Emily is recieving. The song is directed at the haters.

      I did see someone mention the lyrics actually addresses Emily's past with Scientology, and that makes sense. People just aren't paying attention.

      Scientology is a dangerous cult. Not supporting that has nothing to do with "hate". That's just common sense.

    this is what we know so far....emily addressed what happened with danny masterson and no longer supports him. emily was born into scientology but is openly lgbt which is not allowed in scientology so for all we know she may have left it. she can't speak badly about sceintology cuz we all know that won't end well. mike started the band and chester joined later so keeping the name isn't a big deal. mike was also a singer/rapper of the band from the beginning. they lost a singer and they are moving on with a new singer. i think the old drummer just doesn't wanna tour anymore not totally sure his reasons behind not playing. i heard the guitar player has some sort of hearing condition where he doesn't need to be around loud music and so forth. still not totally sure on that one. bottom line is we will never know all the answers so just let it all go and enjoy the music or simply don't listen to them anymore. every musician or actor or famous person is screwed up no matter who it is. that's just how it is.

      The problem is either she or the Mars Volta singer is a liar. She claims to be an “observer” , he claims she harassed the rape victims including his own wife. Which side do you believe?

      The Scientology shit needs to be condemned by the band or they will have a problem. Especially with the Scientology stance on mental health and depression this is a kick to the stomach for all Chester fans. On top of that nobody wants to support such a criminal organization and cult.

      @@IowaRocker81something else to take into consideration, Cedric joined AS AN ADULT and only left when someone he was close to (his wife) was affected by another member (Masterson), otherwise he’d probably still be a member himself..
      Meanwhile Emily was born into it (ie forced into it) by her parents as a child, where with her parents being higher ranking members, speaking publicly against the church could not only put her own life in danger but is basically cutting herself off from likely her entire family.. my vote is Cedric is a liar and very clearly a coward

    Fantastic analysis. I absolutely agree about the Emptiness Machine, "forgettable" is exactly what it is. And its not even necessarily Emily's fault. Like 7 year hiatus and THAT song was your big comeback? I thought Emily sounds ok, but my bigger problem with her isnt about her talent, its her moral character. I have lost my respect for Linkin Park and dont plan on listening to their new album.

    I am not much of a LP fan, no reason, grew up with their music, but here is the thing what many get wrong, LP is no simply a band, far more expansive. Thing is, of course they anticipated all of the backlash, which is was what the lyrics in part is about... Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same... Eminem supported the inclusion of Emily calling is blaming the media in support of her (interesting no mention of this is made), sure we grief Chester and Mike EXPLICITY stated this not to be seen as a replacement but a new era for LP, while Chester's contributions is massive he was not part of the founders of LP, suffice all of it tickets for their upcoming global tour is selling like crazy. Also, it is huge shoes for her to fill, massive tbh, of course she would be nervous giving this and LP fans have been highly critical of her, as a human being to perform flawlessly under these conditions is unreasonable to expect. There in lies the problem, focusing on her past, instead of welcoming her...
    Eminem would not have supported her but he knows how the industry and media works, probably far better than most. Also, it is laughable considering the positive reviews in terms of those buying tickets. Do we now live in a society where we predicate our choices in respect to this based on the past of someone? Lastly as mentioned and also fans (fans of LP past and present) will determine whether they fail or not and also to assume LP did not anticipate backlash, did not prepare for this months ago is ridiculous, of course they did. She did nothing wrong, or is she a convicted felon? Also had it been anyone else they would have received hatred all the same.
    You know, sometimes in what we have lost we realize what we have left, of course there is pain there is sacrifice comes at a cost, the hardest choices requires the strongest wills... What would be the point of all the pain and sacrifice if the they did not have the willingness to stand up and keep fighting and trying to move forward?
    Whatsoever the case might be and all things said I would give Emily a shot instead of digging up dirt and slinging mud, I made mistakes and you better be darn sure if you criticize someone to make sure your life is perfect. Oh and as for "The Emptiness Machine #4 "LP Score Career-Best UK Chart Position"

      I didnt really saw the same backlash happens when other "famous" peoples busted with cocaine and/or other hard drug using. i mean they all passively support Kartels, organizations what involved about slavery, child/human trafficing, also fair to say we can blame them to ruin way more peoples life then scientology ever can to do. And yes, Chester was also involved to use hard drugs in the past.
      Negative advertise still an advertise ;) As you can see peoples whos hate them now for different reasons basicly just helps them to "stay online".

    Welcome back, Annabelle. Glad you are well. This is your first non-Band-Maid reaction I've watched but you talk sense and present it well. I never got into Linkin Park, Papa Roach or any bands of that genre but appreciate your insight and passion. Looking forward to the next Maid reaction. Keep up the good work!

    I'll still enjoy LP's music but unless something changes I won't be listening to the new music. I don't have a problem with them going forward with a new singer, plenty of bands have needed to do it. I just wish they had chosen a different singer but if new information comes out and I'm wrong about her character I could change my mind.

    • @EMERGxx

      It was Emily’s first public appearance with the band so it’s to be expected for her or anyone to be overwhelmed especially knowing that no matter who they picked, there would be plenty of hate. I still don’t feel great hearing her sing old songs. Comparing Emptiness Machine to their old hits isn’t apples to apples either, there’s a tremendous amount of nostalgia in favor of their old hits so comparing them isn’t exactly fair either. I appreciate you trying to remain mostly unbiased during your video around the ongoing controversy. +1 to your video

    • @vincemeat774
      @vincemeat774 2 дня назад +7

      @@EMERGxx you got to remember that these old songs didn't belong to Chester alone, these lyrics are written by the entire band, I think it was better for them to bring back old songs with Emily's voice so us fans can see the difference for ourselves, I'm positive they are gonna move forward with new songs soon but i am personally happy with her performance. I think this video was a -1 take. I don't see how we cant respect with Mike and the band are trying to do now by continuing their own lives after they lost somebody so important to them.

    • @Annabellelinker
      @Annabellelinker  2 дня назад

      Thought I’d chime in here. If you watched to the end of the video, I do say that if moving forward with the band brings positive changes to the guys lives, they should do it. Chester was special to us but I recognize he’s gone now and respect wanting to move forward past grief.
      My main area of confusion is the links to Scientology and the way the whole thing was handled. From my perspective, it seems like the band did not expect the backlash, and haven’t addressed it at all so far (Emily only made an Instagram story about the Danny Masterson situation, nothing about Scientology).
      It’s not a matter of someone else singing the music for me, it’s the possible links to that organization. Some commenters have posed that perhaps they aren’t saying anything for safety issues, while other people have said they aren’t saying anything to create controversy and drive sales, and another group thinks they will sing about it in their new music.

    • @vincemeat774
      @vincemeat774 2 дня назад +4

      @@Annabellelinker I did watch till the end of the video but saying brings positive changes but also saying you lost respect in Mike Shinoda at 7:03 doesn't mean you actually care about them. we can all agree Scientology is nonsense but that doesn't mean we should assume certain people are part of organizations trying to collect minions for an army. Its rock and roll to not care about the bullshit of the past and be in the moment and that is what the music is.
      Chester was very vocal about how his music is inspired by Depression and these songs hit very hard when you feel depressed so perhaps maybe instead of this scientology fixation is we should see where Emily and Mike are. She was amazing on stage with a few vocal errors but her 2 hour live performance which you can catch on youtube by the lucky few who watched it she was flawless and these songs are sung because we all sang for the role of chester.
      Lastly an most importantly, weather they said something before or after the band announcing their show there was going to be backlash, it was completely unavoidable. Don't let "some commenters" tell you or anybody else how the music feels or sounds to you. this is not a ploy to gather people for rekigion this is Linkin Park.
