Hi Tom, i don't just love your content... I love you❤. You're such an inspiration. Construction is definitely your calling. Thanks alot for this. I'm super glad i found your channel.
Excellent analysis of the construction field and the skills that must be had to qualify for different roles in the Canadian industry. I have a doubt, I have seen how many international students, having very good academic background and work history in diverse construction management roles, non-Canadian experiences are often not considered by many companies, which is why they are losing very well-qualified professionals. that they can contribute with experience to companies. What is this about? Thank you very much professor..
You know I could be talk about this topic on international experience being undervalued for an hour. It is certainly a problem in some companies and with some people. Fortunately there are a substantial amount of companies that like foreign experience and understand that often there is a hunger with new immigrants that is sometimes lacking domestically. Keyword sometimes, not always. I think new immigrants with experience persist until they succeed and they do succeed in the long run. I’ll likely bring this up in a future video. Thanks for the timely question.
Hello Tom, great content indeed. Can you also give us some insight on how to excel as a civil engineer in EPC or Oil & Gas projects? Would really appreciate!
Many thanks dear Tom for the fruitful video, as always. I would like to kindly ask for your suggestion. I currently work in Germany as an engineer for construction and real estate management. Classic activities such as time planning, controlling and supervision using earned value method, sometimes also doing profitability calculations[feasibility study]. How high is my chance to land a job in Ontario in the construction field. I am also familiar with BIM tools, lean planning, and do hold a degree in construction management and real estate investment. I speak also business German besides English. I do not hear good news about Canada these days, how is the job market condition in Canada in construction field? Since I do not possess Canadian experience, what would be the best realistic path for me to land a job there? Many thanks in advance for your guidance
I think you could definitely get work in construction management here. I think Germany has a great reputation for supply skilled people. There may sometimes be some resistance from some people but by and large our shortage of qualified people overcomes these minimal obstacles. My question is why do you want to leave? Mind you Toronto is a great city.
@@TomStephensontraining Thank professor Tom for the fast reply. The thing about working in Germany even though I work mainly with German language is that it hinders the career progress definitely. The other issue can be the extremely unique German working culture which is sometimes very hard to understand. Your suggestion would be directly applying for jobs in Canada or taking a 6 month - 1 year college certificate, and then applying for jobs? I heard that Canadian experience is very very important for the employers. What would be the best solution in your opinion. Many thanks in advance for your guidance
