Yep, Patrick Ewing is a Hall of Fame all time legend, but Hakeem, 80's and early 90's was just a little better, athletically, defensively and offensively. His Rockets even beat Michael Jordan's Bulls constantly in the regular season games between 1990-1993. A little surprised though that Hakeem only averaged 21.6 points a game for that 1991-1992 season and the Rockets finished 42-40.
The NBA at one point was thinking about tracking shots that were altered from being heavily contested because of how many times ol Olajuwon changed his opponents shot trajectory
Rockets finished 52-30 (.634) for the season. In the 56 games with Hakeem their record was 36-20 (.643). The 26 games without Hakeem their record was 16-10 (.615). So they actually had a worser record without Hakeem than with him (not as bad as the following season though)
@Q.B.2.L.B. Horry, Elie, and Cassell were instrumental pieces to winning those championships and they weren't there yet in 91-92. Lebron needed other superstars to win. Hakeem just needed a decent supporting cast, not exactly the same thing.
Great highlights. Both great players but Olajuwon was on such a different level from everybody else..

They should’ve
I miss this NBA on TNT anthem
Hard to believe this 92 Rockets team found a way to miss the playoffs
Doesn't help if you go 2-10 on the 12 games that Olajuwon missed, yikes!
@@MDBBallthey played great without Hakeem the year before

The finals preview two seasons later!
Unfortunately Patrick had already lost a step by then. Hakeem was still close to this level physically.
3:20 Maxwell took those kind of terrible shots far too often
The 91-92 Rockets didn't have a supporting cast around Hakeem that was quite ready to win yet.
sounding like a LeBron guy...
"He needs more help waaaaah"....🤣
