    The black spotted staining on the mattresses are due to bed bugs. That filth is from their waste, that just tells you how bad the infestation is/was. The small stains on the door ways could be due to housekeeping touching the walls with cleaner on their gloves.
    It's really sad that this hotel is in a prime location right outside of Disney property. These people have no idea what they're doing.
    It's even more sad that the hotel was started by such a wonderful man. This is a mockery of his memory.

    I stayed here in 97 for my first Disney trip. It was amazing then when it was Holiday Inn, the convenience store was great and had a Little Caesars in there, the arcade was stocked, the movie theater for kids was cool and they even had their own costumed mascot Holiday Hound (Still have my Holiday Hound plushie from the gift shop to this day). • @LeeAnn-j3i
      @LeeAnn-j3i 9 дней назад

      Can you CHOOSE whether or not to use the resort "amenities" or do they charge you even if you tell them that you don't want to use the amenities?

    • @grayanderson5
      @grayanderson5 9 дней назад +1

      @@LeeAnn-j3iNo, they just charge you...even if the amenities aren't available. The Sheraton LBV was charging for them during the pandemic even when the shuttles weren't going, the pool was closed, etc. They also had the nerve to charge the same price for a doggy bag breakfast as they had pre-pandemic for a full breakfast.
      Basically, those fees are just excuses to charge more money.

    The rust stains on the wall by the door hinges is caused by someone spraying WD-40 all over the hinge to quiet the squeak when you open and close the door. As the spray travels it picks up the rust on the hinge and splatters it all over the wall behind it.

    The main thing I remember is two different DVD rental machines in the lobby (I think by the restaurant, which was also closed when I went) - one for "family" movies, and one for "adult" movies. The "family" movie machine was full, while the "adult" movie machine had most slots empty with an indication that the movies were checked out.

Use the hottest setting and place it on the corner of the mattress. Bed bugs hate the heat. They’ll start coming out like something out of a scary movie. When we return home. We leave the suitcases wrap in a garbage bag in the garage. If you don’t have a garage. Place them in the garbage bags and leave in the trunk of your car. Don’t have a car? Buy the bed bug spray to kill them.

    This is one example of why I will never stay in a hotel or resort again. We stayed at a RV park in Alabama once and the little cabin was nice, but I woke up and saw a line of bed bugs crawling over the bunkbed above my head. Needless to say we put all our luggage in black garbage bags for the trip home and left the unloaded cases in the bags placing them in the hot summer sun for a week. Never had a problem, but that was enough for us. I fear things will not get better anywhere you stay.

    After seeing how bad this place is Disney world hotels (with their prices) don’t seem so bad after all 😂 it’s really comforting knowing that you’re definitely getting a clean room with some people who work there that are actually happy too

    I used to work for Holiday inn in the 90s. That hotel was beautiful in the 70s and 80s. It even had a restaurant with a separate ginger bread house where the kids could eat. It was called Holiday inn Main gate east. The last time I stayed there was 1994 and it was still nice. So sad new places can't take care of things. How ever, if you do stay off property, I recommend a chain. They at least have corporate standards.

      Thank you for confirming that this used to be Holiday Inn Main Gate East. I stayed there with my kids around 1998-1999 and it was AWESOME! They had bunk beds set up in a fort-like area of our room and some sort of clown show - with clowns who were actually hilarious - and a food court. It was amazing.
      I've been in that area many times since then, but wasn't sure what had become of the property.

    How do they justify “resort fees” ANYWHERE?? The nightly room fee IS the resort fee! How do they get away with advertising a place at $17.00, and then because they created some bogus thing like “resort fees”, the price jumps up to, say, $835.12??!!

    This is obviously an owner that just doesn’t care. He’s likely using the hotel as a front for something. It also means the manager can’t do anything because the owner won’t give them the money. I worked in hotels for twenty years and NEVER saw a hotel this bad. Maintenance is obviously not even a thing at this place. Honestly the whole place needs to be vlosed down and completely remodeled.

    I loved watching this video! I stayed at this exact hotel as a child. Back in 1981. It was a Holiday Inn. I knew watching this that it was familiar. I remember the vacation very well as does the rest of my family. We were there for a convention for my dads work. Back in the 80’s it was top of the line. It’s pretty interesting watching these videos and seeing how things change over the many years. Thank you for doing this one. Quite sure I won’t stay there now. Ha.

    Stayed here in 2007-ish. Even back then it was the cheapest value option. I was very young and paying for the trip myself so very much worth it at the time. It was still relatively clean. Very basic. The amenities were ALREADY falling apart back then though. Not surprised it declined as hard as it did.

    I stayed at Seralago back in 2007. Stayed in the last room (ground floor) just before you walked round the bend to the 2nd pool, opposite the tennis courts.
    To be honest, whilst the rooms were very basic they were pretty clean and the only issue I had was the chain lock on the door was very loose, so much that I reckon if you charged at the door it would have come right off.
    Sad to see it in its current state. Given the location and the size of the land I think it would be the ideal place for regeneration.

    I used to stay there a few times a year, it was a lot more than $17, but it was decent. It was old and getting run down but still OK. Two years ago in January, we had a cold blast here in Florida and my room had no heat. All they did was give me some extra blankets. I haven't stayed there since and it sounds like it's really gone downhill since.
