  • A 9 mile walk, starting for Seathwaite the walk follows Styhead Gill to the tarn before climbing Great End via "The Band". On route we attempted to scramble through Cust's Gull,y however due to the damp and greasy conditions we were unable to manage this. Next time!!! From Great End the route then continues on to Scafell Pike before returning via the Corridor Route. Music is Morning Life - Feeder, Bang and Blame - REM & Walking on the Moon - The Police

Man that must have been painful getting so far up Cust's Gully and having to make the call. Looked really green... good decision. Great video as usual. Like the 'Walking on the Moon' for Scafell Pike.

Yeah, it was a tad annoying but yes, very green and greasy. Enjoyable route though!!!

Great vid lads, I haven't done Custs yet and your vid gave me a good idea of what's involved. Cheers!

Thanks Steve, I think I may need to wait till a bit more snow and ice to be able to complete it as well. Got to a place where I just couldn't get much higher without risking getting stuck. It can be very greasy there. Glad you liked it. atb

Gary, fantastic video! That pitch on Cust's is real tricky. I managed to do it last year, but what no-one tells you is, there's an even more difficult pitch further along which you can't see! Almost got stuck but managed to haul ourselves out, wet and muddy in the end....very scary! Good luck if you try it again!

Vinny Hassell Thanks Vinny, glad you've told me that. I did think the first part was difficult (and very greasy) but if there's an even tougher pitch further up I'm definitely waiting till it's either drier (not likely in that position) or when it's iced up. Appreciate your comments. atb

Great video Gary I got past chockstone this summer it was bone dry mind only to fail onb second pitch Nr end of Gully I was on my own (a bunk up my have been handy to complete it)
Took me a good 15 mins to get back down first pitch to escape too 🤣 loved ever min of it great experience.
My try again when if fills with snow.

Cheers Martin, glad you liked the video. Got to say, I was worried if I'd get stuck when we went there, but didn't have a chance as it was so greasy. After reading your exploits I think I'm glad I didn't get any further.
Got to say, I have thought about going up again in the snow and ice. I may need to upgrade some of my gear though.
Glad everything went alright for you. Not a place to be stuck on your own! Hahaha atb

I did Skew Gill on way up to Custs don't know if you've done it but it would make a great video too.
You have a great channel here keep it up.

Thanks Martin, I've not been up Skew Gill, often looked up it while on route elsewhere but now you've mentioned it I'm going to have to look at a route and incorporate it!!!
Glad you like the channel. I suppose it's my version of the slide show. Didn't realise people would actually like them as well!!! Appreciate your comments! atb

It’s definitely easier under compact snow/ice conditions as it fills up and you get good grip with crampons!!!
