Holding a WTF dan rank myself, the best technique goes to 02:56 and her reaction to bag drills. And, let's not kid ourselves... Flexibility doesn't show viciousness, but it does not need to. If these ladies actually wanted to hurt someone they could indeed break bones.
Yes. As a female with above average flexibility, I'll admit that flexibility will surely not save my life for self-defense purposes. It just gives me more options, mainly in a gym setting. Even though I can kick the head of a man, I wouldn't attempt it on the street. It's too small a target, and gets me too off-balance. A simple groin kick is much more practical, and accessible, for most people to implement. But I'll fully admit, I come from a self-defense background, so that's the lens I'm always viewing these things through 😅

I love their skill. The flexibility. My wife an I started martial arts now. We are over 40 and need something to be better prepared for gettting really old. She is doeing MMA and me Hung Kuen.
She doesnt get her leg half the way up compared to these ladies. And me neither. Even cant hold my leg in the air.
But it is getting better everytime i went to training.
When I see these vids I always think that I wont be able to be this good.
But who knows? Always keep training.

Exactly, I see lots of flexibility showing off on RUclips videos and don't get me wrong flexibility is very useful but without the strength and speed to go with it it's just high flicky kicks.

A martial artist can fight. Because comparing to a normal person they are, fast and has alot of techniques. So yes they are able to fight. Those kicks are not as seen. One kick can damage a person. The kicks are really strong. Don't underestimate. If they use their full power it can cause severe damage to the enemy or even kill.
You oractice standard situations to have a collection if moves sharpen your mind for fighting situations.
The most attacts occur from the sudden so you might be a blackbelted fighter with muchmuch experience even in the ring but if you are overwhelmed by somebody. You have bad chances. The most fights are over within seconds.
All true. Taekwondo is mainly a sport, it's not self-defense oriented. I wish these ladies would keep their hands up to protect their heads, for example. And no shade, they're doing something really difficult and they're doing it well!
But having thought about it a great deal, I think mentality is more important than skill. Skill is extremely helpful. (And the more skilled you get, the less you want to actually fight, in my experience.) However, mentality is critical. For one, it can help you avoid a bad situation ahead of time. But if you do wind up in a situation, do something. It doesn't have to be fancy. Bite and scratch. Scream and eye gouge. All of that is better than laying down to die.
Fancy kicks are fun :) I can do a few, in very specific scenarios lol but I'd rather be alive than be a show-off.
