It was my first introduction to classic movies, I watched it when I was around 11. When I saw it, I was in awe. The production was HUGE for 1935.. especially then unknown Flynn and de Havilland.
I have a lot of Korngold/Flynn scores that put a smile on my face. No more than this. Even though Errol didn't contribute a single note, he provided all the inspiration for Erich to excel.
When I first saw this was 1989 when in Hungary stsrted Intervideo than i could see all Erol Flynn John Wayne and Chaplin classics. Very fine movies my favorite became Don Juan, Capitan Blood and all movies made from the books of Mark Twain..This music is perfect. I also like the musics of Max Steiner.
Leave well enough alone. Too many remakes just can't match the original. And today's actors can't match the swagger and delivery of Errol Flynn. This movie is BEST priate movie ever. Even Disney took the early battle for Port Royal as a prototype for "Pirates of the Carribean" ride.
@@NavyBob1965 True enough good sir. If you enjoy real Rum, you absolutely must try Pusser's British Navy Rum, which is made in Guyana, in traditional Pot Stills, as it was made around 1665. British sailors were given a pint of Rum a day by their Purser up until July 31st, 1970, "Black Tot Day", as they call it.
Thank you very much! I have to say the music sources aren't in best quality but there is certainly some degree of improvement possible and I thought of redoing them after some time, someday! Thanks! Fred
True story-the Warner Symphony Orchestra heard here also played the music for most all of the WB Cartoons. The story goes that one day Jack Warner was passing thru the studio and noticed the orchestra sitting around doing nothing-they were between assignments and as they were all Union, they got paid whether they played or not. Its said that he exploded and said, "If I'm paying them to play, they'll play!". Enter the cartoon unit and Carl Stalling!
Fascinating. The most complete recording of "Captain Blood" that I have heard to date. It's not the final movie version, which makes it even more interesting. Swashbuckling Korngold.
One of the best Pirate movies, but also a very good novel, written by Rafael Sabatini, a half English, half Italian son of Opera singers.....yes, I can totally see how that would make you a good story teller.
Korngold ran out of time to write the score, so he adapted Franz Liszt's Prometheus for that section. Later on he used Battle of the Huns during the attack sequence at the climax of the film.
So this is the name of the music Dorothy Hamill skated to in 1976 Olympics. I was always able to remember the theme to her program, but never knew the name. Then I come here just to listen to Korngold, and I immediately recognized it as being from Dorothy's long skate program.
I saw mines "the adventures of robin hood " nearby at the Davis or Southport in the 80's . A funny thing happened when Much the Miller was talking to maid marians lady in waiting , she said " I bet you tell that to all the girls that tickle your fancy and he said " I never tickled a girls fancy " a woman in the audience laughed
Frederik, where on Earth did you find these cues? Wo, wo, wo? The duel scene and the sea battle scene for example. I had no idea that these had been recorded. Reveal your secrets.
There's something about films of this era and genre that blurts out 'we just left the silent film era'! Thanks though...at least we hear the music not the technological short comings.
Captain Blood was the BEST of all the pirate movies! Well worth watching!
It really was. People don't know that.
It was a force of nature on its day , sadly people have short memory .
It was my first introduction to classic movies, I watched it when I was around 11. When I saw it, I was in awe. The production was HUGE for 1935.. especially then unknown Flynn and de Havilland.
Ayy
Don't forget treasure Island with Wallis Barrie. Excuse my spelling if I spelled a name wrong 😮.

A skilled director should remake this. A story worth being brought back up.

The first of the Korngold/ Flynn movies and possibly the best score
The Adventures of Robin Hood
POTC fans please note...this is what real pirate cinema sounds like!
+cosycleaner POTC3 disagrees.
yeah my friend :3
Captain blood already 86 years old still one of the greatest pirate movie ever make!!@
"Let's hear it for Captain Blood!!!"
Hip Hip Hooray!
Thanks, Soundtrack Fred! I've been listening to your Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk posts for years. Great work! That's well-played, sir!
Thank you very much!
I have to say the music sources aren't in best quality but there is certainly some degree of improvement possible and I thought of redoing them after some time, someday!

A rousing score for the greatest of all Pirate movies.
One of my favorite Errol Flynn movies!♥️❣️🌟
Lush, romantic, action, Korngold's score with wonderful orchestral arrangements by Hugo Fridhover, so enhances this movie
Thanks for such a beautiful compilation of one of the best swashbucklers of all time

It's the original recording, try and keep up.
Superb
These are the original 1935 soundrack recordings, conducted by Korngold himself at WB studios in Burbank, CA. Most were used in the film.
yaaahh ye sea dogs listen up, this is the best pirate movie ever made yeaaahh:!
It's hard to believe Olivia De Havilland was only 19 when She did this film.
But Hollywood never, and will never ever, cast a 19 year old man in an adult lead. But they'll get cast as high school age leads. Double standard.
@@AntiWoke_Autistic There's a reason why, and we all know why.
Thanks for posting!
Beautiful soundtrack of great movie 🎥
Still liked the Sea Hawk music as well but once again a brilliant selection
Classic Soundtrack. Love it.

i read it many years ago, it was quite good as i remember.
Great score. Reminiscent of Dorothy Hamill's 1976 freeskate.
I like this soundtrack, thanks for posting it.
The wonderful poster that you feature in your video looks to be a re-release of the original film.
I'm saddened that the music that plays when Captain Blood and Captain Levasseur have their Duel is not here ;_;

@@quatermasss Yes, he also used Liszt's Mazeppa at the ending sea battle
Dorothy Hamill figure skated to this en route to Olympic Gold in 1976!
Just great!
So this is the name of the music Dorothy Hamill skated to in 1976 Olympics. I was always able to remember the theme to her program, but never knew the name. Then I come here just to listen to Korngold, and I immediately recognized it as being from Dorothy's long skate program.
What a great info. Luckily this clip is on RUclips and I could watch it and enjoy it with all those Korngold melodies! Thank you!
@@SoundtrackFred I couldn't find the Olympic long program BUT she skated to "The Seahawk" for the 1976 U.S. Championships. That's on RUclips!
Every time I hear this music, I wish I was in a sword fight, wearing tights
totally genius,he is Gustav Maler's student...
ultimate music!
Gut gemacht!
Pure Musical genious
John Williams took inspiration in this kind of music and simply made it even better
I think he used a few notes from the Korngold symphony for Jaws
Don't forget Kings Row
Adventure coming.
Give me a boarding lanyard a cutlass and a brace of pistols come on lads to the quarter deck!
Maravillosa música y mágicamente me permite evocar el recuerdo de mis padres a quienes debo el amor que siento por el cine.
Wicked
Flynn looked like Franz Liszt in this. Saw this at the Biograph where John Dillinger was killed saw it in the 1970s

Correcting my comment from a while ago. This does sound like the final movie version.
5:38 - Prometheus
7:02 - Mazeppa

The elder jukers are here.
I am wondering if Gone With The Wind theme was compose by korngold,Just wondering......
by Max Steiner
This sound like a mix between franz liszt's prometheus and dante symphony
& Mazeppa
isn't this the sea hawk theme??? I'm so confused!
Pretty much all he did sounds similar...

Mazeppa Franz Liszt!
I guess someone thought it would go well with the film.
Who would play e Flynn. Music? W g k. Music? Taylor Swift?
korngold was a genuine wunderkind but never quite lived up to his early promise
How many enduring movie themes have you composed?
Please don't take.iy.
