I had bought the keyboard when it was released, then sold it... I regretted it for a long time, but thanks to the software version, I'm back to the magic of this fantastic synth. Thank you for this tutorial which allows me to see a little more clearly what is going on under the hood
I have had wavestation for two years now because I wanted to make Icytwat beats, and Ethereal (Awful records caught my ear), he uses Jungle pads, and this is perfect thank you so much

Have any longer clips similar to what you're playing in the "Final Sound" portion section of the video? I am a huge fan of the Donkey Kong Country sountrack and am trying to find other music that has a similar feel/sound font to it.
Fantastic tutorial, thank you. 🙏. I have an opportunity to purchase a hardware Wavestation for about $400 US, is it worth it, or do you think the software is adequate? I had a DX-7 for many years but sold it once I A/B'd the DEXED software against the hardware. Excellent tunes by the way, really dig your stuff.
Thank you, Simon! Which Wavestation? keyboard or one of the rack versions? I never really did a solid A/B test, but general thoughts is that they're very close if not identical. Once in the mix it will be hard to tell the difference. The software is more than adequate if you want to keep a low overhead That being said, I love my Wavestation A/D, will never sell it. It has a few tricks that the VST version does not: - Line input so you can run any other synth or sampler through the wavestation, tapping into those sweet MDE effects (believe this is on the A/D model only, however) - There is a 3rd party PCM card that lets you load up a bunch of samples and use them as oscillators (WaveRex), really unlocks limitless potential
@@Thought-Forms Sorry, I've just seen your reply. It's the rack version I'm currently looking at purchasing. I'm using Roland Cloud and I think they do an incredible job of getting close to the hardware, but I always feel like there's something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. You're right, in the mix it's hard to tell. However, the software just doesn't excite me like the hardware. I'm really after a JD-990, but they're proving hard to come by. Thought the Wavstation might be inspiring. Thanks for taking the time to respond. 🙏
@@simonbell209 As a JD-990 user, it is indeed lovely lol. I'm pretty sure I'm the last person to snag one online for sub $1k, glad I did because they are only rising in price. It's great but I don't think it's $1k+ great. But it is pretty unique, especially with the Vintage Synth Card installed. Big drawback is that the cards are internal installation and it can only hold 1 card at a time. Also, I don't see the point of getting it if not for pads. Closest VST would probably be the XV-5080, but there is still a pretty big difference in sound with the fx I think.
hey zak, honestly haven't opened it since I made this video, I do feel like I recall it being a bit of a resource hog on my m1 mac. the individual plugins themselves (outside of the rack) are perfectly fine
hey luke - no, that's a plugin that comes with the DAW. its just a chord trigger device you put before the VST, most DAWs should have something similar

Awesome awesome tutorial, one stop shop for ambient jungle pads right here!
sounds real cool
Very nice programming there mate, to get the authentic end product though you would want to sample that pitched up into your sampler of choice. Rad
cheers! ^ 100%!
Thanks for creating & sharing this!
thanks for the comment, Alex! glad you enjoyed it
Maan I love your videos so much! Thank you! ✨
And it's quite interesting that when I recreated this patch I had no vibrato at all👀
Thanks so much, Dude I appreciate this so much I made some cool pads already
That's awesome! Once you get the hang of it, its smooth sailing. Pads for days
Wavestation is legit especially if you flip the pad to an old akai sampler (or TAL Sampler) after.
thats the way to do it!
ok this is dope, might use this again.
nice one. Lets make this on the wavestation hardware.
I have it, but it sounds really weak compared to this one.
Warm lush pad 🦊 10:30
great vid..very helpful👍
where can i buy the full package and the manual, can you get it online?
yea you can. from korg's web store directly, the manual comes with it!
Lovely tutorial, thanks...sounds glorious. Shame there's not an initialise preset!
thank you, ricardo! agreed on the init preset...
My Wavestation SR (Hardware) has Init Patch and Init Perf function (buried deep down in the menu though) (PG p.22,RG p.54)
@@MrByteYT Big thanks, hope it's the same for the vst, will check later.
@@ricardo2323 I also have the VST, but did not find it there :(
That perfrmance sounds awesome. Where can I find "Slow Strings"? I can't find it in my version of the wavestation.

You mention another video about architecture but I can’t find it!
Does the Soundtoys Rack eat up resources ? The Reason Rack sure does as a Plugin. On a 64gb ram Intel Mac.

Does anyone know how to pull up the multi-outs (channel 3/4) in ableton?
Sorry for my ignorance but can you tell me the names of the chords you played ? Thanks :)
All good! Believe they were just minor 9's with the root note transposed down an octave
Is it a function within wavestation that the chords are playing when your midi is a single note?
hey luke - no, that's a plugin that comes with the DAW. its just a chord trigger device you put before the VST, most DAWs should have something similar
you can use scaler vsti and direct input to wavestation for that
Does it exist for Win, Mac and iOS?
Why "Jungle" ?
why not jungle?
@@datapusher- Because there is no such thing as a "jungle pad".
A few audio examples at the beginning would of been helpful otherwise great tut thanks a bunch!

Am I correct in saying there’s no separate midi channels on this in standalone mode?
