Homeless Tent City Coming To Your Neighborhood? Can Ken Sim Solve Vancouver DTES/ Chinatown Crisis?

  • Ken Sim wants to help solve the crisis in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and Chinatown. There is increased homelessness, crime, drug addiction, mental illness, vandalism and random violence. Ken Sim is one of the Mayoral Candidates For Vancouver Election in 2022.
In recent months, guns have been confiscated in the tent city on East Hastings Street. After the deadline to dismantle the tents had passed, they are still there. The tents and the homeless people are not moving anytime soon.
Three innocent people have been attacked in Chinatown in recent months.
There needs to be action to help the homeless people. There needs to be action to safeguard everyone in the city.
West coast cities such as San Francisco, Portland and Seattle have seen their cities deteriorate. The fear is that this situation will spread into your neighborhood, as it has in a lot of cities in Canada and the United States.
I endorse Ken Sim's to be the Mayor of the city of Vancouver. He is the leader of the ABC Vancouver Party (A Better City). He wants to have a better city for everyone. I met him recently at a rally on the Eastside of Vancouver.
Check out my video to see what he stands for. If you feel he is the right person to be Mayor of Vancouver, please get out and vote. We need to take action now before the situation gets worse.

I saw a recent video of San Fran Chinatown. It looked really good. A few weeks ago, a group of Vancouver people went to San Fran Chinatown to learn how to improve our Chinatown. There was a bit of coverage in our local news about how well San Fran Chinatown is doing.
You're saying it's worse in San Fran now compared to Vancouver? Did San Fran set up some shelters to put the homeless people in, away from the Downtown and Chinatown?

@@DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV I would say that the Chinatown area is still better off than in other parts of the city in San Francisco, such as the Tenderloin and some other districts. There is a growing problem, however, of crimes happening to Asians such as petty thefts and more serious. attacks. There is a growing sense that the criminal friendly laws here are to blame. You can literally steal up to $999 and the police won't arrest you, or if they do, you won't get prosecuted. No it’s actually not. People have who become acclimated to the Vancouver climate find the fall and winter cold and they aren’t coming for the weather. The majority of people coming, the most being from Alberta at 25% (recent stats show the majority of homeless drug addicts on Vancouver sidewalks are Albertans), they come to set up tents and do drugs and distribute drugs because they know police aren’t enforcing any laws against, police walk right on buy people shooting up heroin, smoking crack, selling stolen goods, etc, all because the former mayor Kennedy Stewart ordered the police to decrease their presence and engagement with the people in the DTES leaving the actual disadvantaged people renting low income apartment in danger with all the drug addict criminals around them on the sidewalks. Ken Sim needs to fix this and increase the police presence and clean the sidewalks up and ignore the special interest groups that advocate for the drug addicts. With decriminalizing drugs next years it’s only going to get worse, like it has in Portland and San Francisco where they have learned decriminalizing drugs was a mistake.

Thankfully, despite having a very “progressive” mayor, local government seems to allow the authorities/ bylaw officers to do some level of enforcement.
I would like more to be done, but that’s bigger than a city issue. Province needs to step up and throw more money into institutionalizing individuals with mental health / drug addiction issues.

As I was going to the kitchen, she quickly walked in front of me. Then when I got the wine glasses, she made sure I followed her back to the meeting room. What an ego!!! She could have just got the glasses herself since she was walking to the kitchen anyway.
Whenever we had food during our meetings, I would wash the dishes after. I don't need anyone to thank me, but this same lady would say to me, "You can do the dishes because you like doing dishes." Talk about being clueless.
Sorry I got a little off track here. Yes, I hope Ken will be a great mayor so we can be proud of our city again. Yes, Jesus is a great role model. Thanks for viewing my video. Thanks for commenting.

4 "so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”"
      John 13 4-8
This tells the story of the servant leader, setting an example for the Apostles on how to care for eachother by the foot washing. Jesus died for our sins but before he did, he provided an example for us to follow.
Also regarding Jesus feeding the hungry with bread see Matthew 14-15.

There have been homeless tent cities for decades in the US. My city have seen increases of homeless tent cities. At least, porta potties have been made available. Struggling with how to end homelessness is still a work in progress. Or, in the trump world, move the tents outside the city and provide basic serves there. At one time they were called poor farms, and they actually existed. Once there, you were obligated, if you could, to work the gardens and the farm animals to provide food.

We don't need more police in Vancouver. You can take all the ones that spend all their time cruising up and down Granville St. in the downtown area doing nothing but blaring their sirens day and night and use them in the DTES instead. But teach them how to be compassionate first and not ignore low-income people like myself when we've been victimized by crime and try to report it. That would save a lot of taxpayer's money instead of it being wasted, as it is. The problem is not so much the people on the street and the need for more police. The problem is much deeper, and stems from within the local government itself (including the police). You're just using the outer problems as a means to get public support for a deeper agenda.

They always filmed there yes but now they have full control and are remodeling the existing buildins even and destroying them for possible future patients use.
Who does Hollywood North pay to use the place? And are they more of a financial gain for the gov than a financial loss if we put nurses patients Nd doctors back in there? Something is fishy here.

They’re massive drug addicts, they’ve been offered housing recently but refused because they’d rather stay outside and do their hard core drugs all day and night, hoarding junk. They need intervention and rehab, but the instead the BC govt things providing opioid addicts with more opioids is the solution. It’s ludicrous.
