Sony is trying to pad their numbers because it's shrinking after all the shit they did earlier (Tsukihime and Stellar Blade) to appease their shareholders, thinking they can get away with it in Helldivers 2.
Unfortunately, for them... Super Earth unanimously voted: FUCK THAT.
What else is going on? Exclusivity expiring, so now Developers are getting ready to port their games to other platforms such as Ghosts of Tsushima, giving customers less reasons to buy a "Pain"station. So what you are seeing, is SNOY getting desperate for any profit they can make, as their market keeps shrinking. I say, it smells like SELL SELL SELL (or SHORT!)
No one is boycotting PSN, just very loud virtue signalers. Show me the statistics, show me the data.

Put simply, people wanted to support shiftup, but still wanted to stick it to sony, so they kept the game, and cancelled psn. iirc, sony put in fine print that they would be doing something like this at some point, but considering _when_ they announced it, the coincidence is mighty high.
Watch them making digital games or forcing you having Plus to play games 🤡

I uninstalled the game, posted a negative review, posted on the forum and requested a refund with extenuating circumstances, as soon as i found out about this. I recommend everyone else does the same. Anyone who says "it'll just take 2 minutes and you wont ever have to think about it again" have no idea of how draconian Sony's TOS is. The cost of this is far greater than what's apparent.
SONY managed to DOXX their users at least 3 times now. I will NOT link my Steam account to such a trash network

And the automatic response will deny it. You need to keep it open and demand a review, giving a proper reason for the refund now.
I think this can and will be solved in court only. Steam has not really a refund. A real refund for a faulty, no longer usable products is at least 1 year in Europe and Australia. Don't know the time in the USA.
@@deo_exus2041 well, we have such lovely nuggets as the code of conduct, which will see you banned if you use profanity, even in private, or in jest, regardless of wether anyone objected or not. TOS also forbids disparaging the playstation brand. Then there's the surveillance of your voice and chat logs, which they are allowed to use to train their AI moderators, and their protocol for measuring your biometrics through their VR headsets to detect "harassment".

This should be grounds for a refund. Its one thing to mandate a 3rd party account from the start, but adding it retroactively shouldn't be allowed.
100% refund and escalate if denied the policy should've been in place from day 1 or not at all

Depends where you live. In some areas, this violates consumer protection laws and you can sue sony; hope you have a quarter million laying around!

I recently got a deposit for a Crunchyroll lawsuit. The lawsuit was about how Crunchyroll broke TOS and was selling customer data. Who also owns Crunchyroll? Sony.
So who's to say they don't take steam user data and sell that to turn a profit?
Or just run the risk of now people's personal information being exposed!

I've been a loyal Sony kid for 30 years. The PS5 is the first console they've made that I haven't bought. Their franchises are compromised by woke. Their censorious nature has killed them. They can go puck themselves
Same. Had the first PS when it came out, we sold things so my mom could afford it. Now? I'll pass. The handful of truly good games is NOT worth the hassle.
Same loved them since PS1 fast forward today and I don’t have a PS5 mainly because of COVID and how they did nothing to stop the scalping of their product. I mainly play PC and Switch now and 🏴☠️ anything Sony, the hell with them. Side note check and ensure that you have turned off PSN auto pay if cancelled your subscription because Sony’s updates can turn them back on.

I would like to stick with PC. But my only thing is that it's all digital, and recently, everything that was fully digital has been taken from us with zero compensation. At least with physical, you own it.
Omg. I never thought about that, but actually it's the same for me. My pas console was PS4 pro. And I was playing on playstation since the very first one, then PS2, then PS3 slim, then PS4 and PS4 pro. But not the fifth one. You may laugh, but for me a no goer was tlou 2.

You also can't create a psn account in many of the countries that they sold the game in. And creating a "fake account" is also grounds for ban according to their TOS.

So true, I bought every console every generation until this one. I haven’t bought a PS5 or Xbox One X and I feel like I’m not missing much at all.
Why? Just pirate the games and emulate. Vimmslair and the internet archive are your friend. They even make little retro handhelds you can get that can handle up to PS2 and GameCube. The cheap ones cost between 30-60 bucks and can handle PS1 and everything below. Anbernic and Miyoo are going to be putting out clamshell devices with chip sets strong enough for that. And for 99, you can get a retroid pocket 2S, which uses Android, but has hall sticks and triggers, so they don't develop drift. Modern consoles may be bad, but modern, open source emulation handhelds kick butt.
I do think the only ones to trust is Nintendo at least. Don’t blame you on the slightest.

This is in response to the amount of players cancelling their PS+ over stellar blade so now they get a massive bump in PSN accounts to prevent share holders getting pissed at them

How? How does that make up for anything? The PSN account for PC doesn't charge you monthly like the one for the playstation so they aren't making any money. Your hypothesis doesn't make sense.

I literally just asked a Sony rep this question yesterday. They wouldn’t refund my digital stellar blade game because it was preordered and automatically downloaded to my system once released. So I asked them a hypothetical. If Sony decided to market a game, and people liked it so much that there were millions of preorders. If upon release of the game Sony patched in a permanently black screen so no player could see the game they were playing, and since they downloaded the game Sony would not refund their money?
The rep said “yes”. Nice.

Don't have a playstation, don't want a playstation network account. Don't see why a steam account link wouldn't have been enough. Feels like they want to fluff their PSN numbers and sell some more people's data.

I have one from back playing PS3 and PS4. So I don't think it'll harm me in any way, but it's definitely not going to help Sony either nor is that going to help the player base. All I'm saying is that there's a few of us who probably have old forgotten accounts, but that's neither going to help Sony and it's not going to change the fact that a good portion of the playerbase is about to be banned by corporate BS. If you thought the game was rough right now, it's going to be basically unplayable after May 6th. Reduced players, but the game will still be set to as if there were still a peak of 700,000 players able to join in the cause. Yeah no, that's going to drop to a peak of 200,000 based on just how many will have accounts and then it'll drop to 1,400 based on how many people actually still want to play a broken game. Arrowhead has had to revamp the game for the oversuccess they've seen and Sony's about to undo their work and success and they're also going to wonder why there are so many negative articles about them.
If you think my out-of-my-a*s estimates are a bit much, just take a look a another flash in the pan game from another Swedish developer (dunno what's up with Swedish developers and running over their own games in some form or fashion,) Payday 3 from Starbreeze and OverKill. I would not be surprised to see Helldivers 2 end up Payday 3-ing it in terms of player numbers.

I think this is connected with Stellar Blade players boycotting their account. Now they want Helldivers 2 players to cover their funds.
They united so many players to fight against Automotons and Termanids, now it's biting them in the ass as we remain united against them as well.

Better yet, according to Arrowhead themselves, a portion of their early server problems were because of PSN being unable to handle the volume of people logging on/signing up so it was disabled. Which means they're going right back into the problem they solved by disabling it.
Never pledge alliance to ANY corporation, they are NOT your friends and they don't care about you, just your money. So ALWAYS vote with you wallet, you like something they do?, buy, you don't? Don't buy, easy.
The same thing is applicable to valve and other indies if they follow this trend long term.

I don't think this is legal. When you install a game, you signed a contract. That contract cannot be changed later to require that you sign additional contracts (creating a PSN account is also another contract). The Hell Divers 2 team could face a class action over this

It'll work in nations where PSN isn't supported, as they should never have sold it there. But in places where PSN is supported, they'll simply claim "It was known to the consumer from the start." and likely be fine.

Yep, I stopped buying PS4 games when I noticed most anime games were censored more on PS than on other platforms. Never even bothered to get a PS5. The lack of real exclusives really helps me not care.

PC gamers are starting to tolerate a LOT of BS. I have observed this over the last decade. It seems the average IQ of PC gamers are dropping to the standard deviation of the console fanboy. PC gamers are starting to DEFEND all types of BS practices. Its either console gamers with a console gamer mindset coming to PC and defending this BS or PC gamers are compromising. I have seen them defend bad ports like TLOU part 1 remake and Dragon's dogma 2 even though you had an rtx 4090 and still wasnt flawless. Some even defended capcom banning mod support for their older already bought games like resident evil revelations. The day that PC gamers tolerate paying for online will be the end of PC gaming.

This has to be because of the Stellar Blade Boycott. Since they lost SOOOO many people from that boycott by people unsubbing their PS+ acc. due to claiming the game was uncensored but then was censored on first day launch, they're now trying to get everyone in the next most popular game, Helldiver II to try and boost back their numbers.
And when everyone decides to stop playing, then what?
I hope this move makes them lose EVEN MORE PS+ subscribers.

With Stellar Blade, Eve’s appearance was something some people weren’t into or didn’t have any interest in (which is their decision. Nothing wrong with that)
But with Helldivers 2 the reception was positive because it’s what players have been wanting. A fun no BS shooter game with friends.

Flatly illegal in the States. Any PC player can demand a refund and Sony and Arrowhead may be subject to a class action.
The problem is that not all countries that can buy Helldivers 2 can create a PSN account. And after nearly 3 months of the game not requiring it before the announcement, those people will be unable to ask for a refund easily

The sad thing is Arrowhead doesn't want this at all, and it pointed out exclusively that this is a sony decision, and they own the IP. i played this since launch almost every day. I can't remember the last time i legit fell in love with a game.

Just mass refund the game on PC. It isn't hard to figure, you got the game on steam, it wasn't ever advertised that you need a 3rd party account and now that they made the move you don't want the product anymore. Simple as that. Gamers need to have some balls and mass refund along with a good old review bomb and see how the tables turn. I didn't buy this game because I loves the top down 1st game and was pissed they changed it to 3rd person. So I'm glad I didn't bought it

@@caioteixeira1541 Yeah, I never got the game but I've seen it mentioned that the severe network issues had at launch were because of the PSN and they disabled it for Steam to allow them to fix the issue. They never bothered to turn it back on until now since everything was working nicely, and it's probably Sony being desperate to force their psn numbers back up due to the loss from Stellar Blade, so they can fool investors.
That said, the only people 'screwed' by this are ones who should never have had the game sold to them because they live in regions where PSN is banned, blocked, or unusable. They legitimately can't play the game and selling something to someone KNOWING they won't be able to use it is a crime in most places. At least those people should get their money back. Probably won't, though. I smell multiple class action lawsuits incoming for that part of it at least. Can't sell a product that simply doesn't work.
