The last COD game I really personally cared for was WW2 (the 2017 one), starting with Black Ops 4, I've had particular problems with each game since.
I haven't touched any COD game since Modern Warfare 2 (the original one, not the remake).

that's because in various countries you can apply for government subsidies if you have a certain quota of token hirings in your ranks.
however the company I worked for started letting contracts of such people expire, because it simply isn't worth it. You have less competent people in your ranks. People who are less productive, create more trouble and drama, less quality, less profits. And in no way can the amount of subsidies cover the lack of profit and long term harm to the company's reputation. I'm glad the company I work for noticed this and started to change course a few years ago.

2019 was so damn good, until journos complained it was too raw and "intense" so they put the brakes on the hard stuff for MW3 (2023). What a damn joke that reboot turned into.

The video game industry is fine. All of the AAA players combined don't match up to the indies on something like Steam. That is why despite the decline of PS5 and Xbox Series sales, PC is holding steady and there are indie games move 500k under the radar almost monthly.
