I'm in N. America. My cat got bit twice from an assassin bug last year. My vet had to Google it to treat him. Said it was a new one on him in 40 years. I look at my cat a lot differently now. He's one tough kitty!
The reason Mark didn't have much to worry about is after the bug bites the sleeping victim, it defecates into the wound 🤢, and that's how the Trypanosoma Cruzi parasite is transmitted, which then causes Chagas disease, a lifelong disease that can cause heart failure at any moment.
Also, it's interesting that the kissing bug, the species that transmits Chagas disease, has an anesthetic chemical in its bite that makes the bite virtually painless ... so victims often don't even know they're being bitten.
@@billycole852 do the specifics about how the defecation gets in the wound really matter. After they bite, they defecate near the wound and the parasite can then get transmitted if some of the defecation gets rubbed into the wound or any open sore. That's how Chagas disease is spread... The T Cruzi parasite. The point that was making in my OP is that the bite isn't what causes the infection, but the excretion getting into the bite wound is what causes the parasite to enter the bloodstream.
Damn good to know and why would somebody wake up one day and say "Hey I'm gonna go find a dangerous bug and let it bite me for clicks."😂😂😂Makes bout as much sense as God gave a mule😂😂😂

This is insane! Please do the black corsair assassin bug in USA, one got me on the thumb when I mistook it for a plant bug (family Miridae) and picked it up at a blacklight trap. It left a black mark where it digested my flesh 😬
There's all different types of these, and they all suck to get bitten by. When I was in Oklahoma, they had several, including the wheelbug. I heard those really hurt, but I never got bit by that species. What I did get bit by was a tiny little green one, and that thing hurt worse than a bee. I felt a sharp sting on my side and went to look, and this tiny little green assassin bug goes flying away. If that's what a tiny one feels like, I'd hate to get bit by a big one! God, they're awful. They look cool, though.
Wow I didn't know that about the parasites. I got sting by like 3 of them during the time I lived in mexico. And the pain is pretty bad. But I had no idea about parasites. Thank for the info.
He actually didn't tell the truth about the parasite. It's only one a kissing bug carries and you don't get it when it bites you, the thing is that they often defecate near the bite wound and the parasites get spread when the person may rub around at the wound.
Very interesting that you were able to catch it again after it flew away. When I saw the first bite, it only touched it mouth sting to your arm without digging in. If you feel the bite with just a small touch, then it must really mean something. I was glad the test all came clear at the end. I sure to know that just because a test came clear doesn't always mean it a safe bite. We all have to be extra careful with these.
I got bit by a black wheel bug. Yeah, they hurt. About as much as a bee ir scorpion. But not as bad as a velvet ant. I didn't know they could bite lol.
I got bit in the neck by a North American red eyed green assassin bug and it got infected. A went to the doctor a month and a half after getting bit. I ended up on antibiotics 😅 it started as a red mark then it swelled up. It started getting worse every day til it was a quarter sized hole in the side of my neck 😮
I remember when Coyote was more than just “ Watch this bite me.” The content on learning is good but I don’t see the knowledge gained by getting bit. I don’t pick up rattlesnakes and choose to get unnecessarily bitten to describe the bite. This is how you win stup’d prizes. Be safe man.
I have been bitten by something like this same colors in Maryland a couple years ago. It was extremely painful. Like a really bad bee sting. So I would be checking in Maryland close to Pennsylvania
I have been bitten by assassin bugs before, never been sent to the hospital, this individual bug looks very similar to the wheel bugs in my area,I’m pretty sure this one is in the same genus,Arilus.

One thing I've learned about insects, is that 99% of them do not want to bite you or sting you, they just want to run away.
And then there are the hornets.....
Hornets make loud noise that says hey I don't like people in touching range. But the will do her own stuff, seeking for food, eating a fly
glad you both are still alive even in this era in youtube AND ALIVE!!!! CONGRATS!
I see youve never been to Alabama. i hear the hornets are really lovely this time of year!
