Everyone is stuck at first. This is something that you will need to practice forever. It takes time and you will always improve. I look at movement in Tekken like playing an instrument. Gotta start slow and do rudimentary exercises. I guarantee you will improve.
Learning Tekken has been so much like learning a new instrument. Really happy to give a shit about something for the first time in a while. Good ass game.
Used this Tutorial in 2020 after playing T7 for 3 years and wanting to get better at Tekken rather than astay at a casual level, and I have to say, Aris has always had amazing tutorials! Started with his SCII Guides back in 2012-2013 and came to this without knowing it was him. Amazing content creator and tutorial maker too.
WOW! TY Aris this is fantastic to know. Now after trying for 5 minutes I realize that to be able to do this it's going to take hours and hours of practice. This is very difficult to do quickly and actually requires quite a bit of precision.
I actually learned it the "proper" way because i wanted to use Nina, also helped me on the 2P side as i found that method easier than the bb, qcf, b method
Hey man thanks for the video. Being an ex hardcore street fighter player I need all the help I can get. I've been watching all of your tutorials now for the couple of weeks and I can see my self improving already. Thanks man
i prefer using the sway character method to Korean backdash specialy if you are using a Japanese arcade stick with square gate . this took me about a month to a month and half to get a gang of but it really improve the way i move in tekken making me a moving target rather than a sitting duck .
I've always had trouble holding the stick that way >_> I usually have the shaft in between my ring and middle finger. Any ideas on doing it with that? or should I go with your method?
Considering I've been fucking up my QCF motions literally the way you're supposed to do them, when I play UMVC3, I think I'll be able to learn this fast. Man, I've dropped a lot of combos just by messing up a simple motion on the P2 side of UMVC3
Awesome vids Aris helping me out a ton picking up this game i really love the depth of tekken coming for a 2D background i am totally addicted! Anyways could you do some match videos in the future with some commentary offline or online it would be really helpful to see you play a match and talk about whats going on.
But see aris, when you go back to neutral your getting anouther back input, without even trying, i usually am only getting a clean b,d/b,n. I don't want to only use Hayashida with Nina, but idk if you have any tips on getting a steady extra b input.
Thanks Aris! I been having trouble doing this for two years now. I use a eight gate bat top stick. And even with your vid im still having trouble o use Bryan and Bob.
Nice tutorial from Aris. Both backlash and wavedash/lightdash are possible to do with a regular controller but it's of course extremely hard cause with a controller you have to do with buttons and not with a stick with which you can qcf or qcb too easily.I still prefer my a.stick and I recommend it to everyone else especially to the Mishima players.
change controller settings so that your left analogue stick is what you move with and not your the d-pad,dont think it is as affective as using a proper fightstick though because i normally just use d-pad
I just found that review video of his and Boy do i feel like a dumb ass for asking on this video in the first place. Yes that stick looks brilliant, and perfect for me because I play fighting games both on my ps3 and pc . Thank you for the help.
yes. press back twice and using your thumb to press the middle of the back and down button. so press back twice then d/b, b, d/b and so on. that's how I do it :D
Aris is using an Eight Arc arcade stick which I would also recommend. Its solid, well made and dual modded (meaning it works with ps3, xbox and pc) Aris even did a review of it. /watch?v=gwRu6eFxdIM
Can you recommend a fight stick ? At this point i don't care about price. I just want to know if there's a brand I can trust. Do I just have to make sure the stick has Hori parts ?
With stock JLF? Only reason I asked is because that ball top looks like those crystal Seimitsu ones. I am contemplating on replacing my JLF with Seimitsus. Is it true that Seimitsu is good for Tekken because of the shorter throw and stiffness? I heard that that diagonals on Seimitsus are wonky and I don't like.
Yeah I've got a problem. I use sway characters so I want to use the b,b,d/b,b,d/b method that you described and it doesn't work on my TE because I get no consistent inputs on the return to neutral let alone the first back of another backdash... So I'm stuck basically.
i didn't understand your comment what's karateka .. and what's the ball in the fist ? and what does that have to do with the other thing ...... i'm lost can you explain to me ?
Hello, may i ask what kind of joystick are you using? the one you have seems to be much better than those Hori tekken stick. your input is greatly appreciated!
what kind of joystick you're using? im using a sanwa JLF joystick and it seem have a slight delay while doing a back dash or it might just be me doing it wrong
+CoviellotheScrub The Main Man isn't bad, but there are other channels out there. Be sure to look everywhere to see. Back, back, down, back will still work because you will end up doing a quarter circle motion anyway. So, it still works. I've been doing it that way on Xbox and PS3 using the respective controllers for both.
Back and forward dash cancelling is zo damn hard with characters that have a command dash, musn't hit that down input, if that isn't the case it is WAY easier.
lol the title of the video is tekken, not fighting games in general, but ill let you off for that in terms of overall fighting games common factors and community. however not specifically for tekken purposes, many players use pad, rather obvious but i can start doing surveys since tag 2 is out. you say you won i45/i46 was that in tekken? since the last one was won by ryan hart. you won if you say so, like you said to me above, same goes.
I've been a pad player for awhile but I've always wanted a stick, big tekken fan and ttt2 seems as good a reason as any to see how I like it. Anyone know a good place to go buy a decent quality stick or a web site to order one?
@Aris hey man this is godlike however you could change the title to TTT2 Korean Back Dash Tutorial Part 1 (1P Side)/Wave Dash 2p side because if i pick kaz using your method i'm wavedashing like a pro!!!
Yo Aris, Im having serious issues with my backdash. on both sides Ive got it down to a point where it looks almost like the korean backdash, but the problem is, after my last backdash even though im holding back im apparently not blocking? Cause I always get slapped by some random launcher or some move with a huge crushbox like bryans f f+2 or an EWGF. I know the game has an auto-block feature, but if ur backdashing and holding back will this feature activate if i simply let the stick go?
When I first got this game I immediately dedicated myself to learning Korean back dashing. I giggled like a little girl when I first got it. I still need help with the two player side. I'll be looking forward to that tomorrow.
it is easier to backdash cancel with sanwa jlf joystick? i just bought qanba q1 and i find it difficult to backdash with a stock joystick. any suggestions on how to do this easier?
Tapping back won't do this. The idea is that it's like wavedashing in marvel. You actually have to back dash and crouch and repeat. This is an easier way of performing it. Though it's not terribly easy. Jeez. Just spamming back won't move your character anywhere quickly.
Lol theres a cheap way of doing this! Set your Arcade stick directions (left and right) on turbo. Hold back, and when you see the dash, input the d/b. Its cheap but its the closest I've ever been to Korean standard =)
Everyone is stuck at first. This is something that you will need to practice forever. It takes time and you will always improve. I look at movement in Tekken like playing an instrument. Gotta start slow and do rudimentary exercises. I guarantee you will improve.
Bryan, Nina, and Paul are the only characters with a conventional back sway (qcb).
Trying to learn KBDC has made me question my worth as a living being
Same
Man, how times have changed. When Aris used to do these things versus now. Bless lord umbaser.
Just learned backdash with backsway characters. Thanks for this tutorial. It really helped a lot. Thanks Aris!
Learning Tekken has been so much like learning a new instrument. Really happy to give a shit about something for the first time in a while. Good ass game.
i miss my wife
@@arno3796 they dont miss you i guess
It's been years and i still come back to this video to show friends who want to learn. Best tutorial ever.
Still super useful after all these years!

I either use Mad Catz TE sticks or the EightArc Fusion.
Knuckles dude... someone's been punching a makiwara or doing some push-ups for real.
Don't really care much about Tekken but dude, you got an awesome & clear tutorial voice. good shit.
Damn Aris, looks like your video editing skills moved up to top tier. Very nice vid
You know, looking at this now, this looks like it would be WAY easier with a Hitbox.
Lol I didn't edit shit. One take with a web cam and x split. BOOM!
WOW! TY Aris this is fantastic to know. Now after trying for 5 minutes I realize that to be able to do this it's going to take hours and hours of practice. This is very difficult to do quickly and actually requires quite a bit of precision.

Hey man thanks for the video. Being an ex hardcore street fighter player I need all the help I can get. I've been watching all of your tutorials now for the couple of weeks and I can see my self improving already. Thanks man
This is exactly the kind of video I was looking for back in 2010.
It's doable. Just ask NYC Fab or Fighting GM. Besides, I can electric sidestep like nothing on a pad, but have major issues with it on stick.
i prefer using the sway character method to Korean backdash specialy if you are using a Japanese arcade stick with square gate . this took me about a month to a month and half to get a gang of but it really improve the way i move in tekken making me a moving target rather than a sitting duck .

the input goes: b (i.e. left 1p), b, -slight pause- d, d/b, b, b, -slight pause-, etc

Finally i know how to do that, i thought i had to press back 20 times in half a second xD
thanks for the vid dude! :D
i was always wandering how everyone do this.
now i can escape from opponent's attack without getting hit!
Thanks man, I appreciate that.
I'll give that method a try because it sounds a lot easier than the bb, qcb b, qcb b way that I read months ago.
Those fucking hands.
M Concepcion LOL

Watching this for tekken 7 hopeful within a year of practice I get this down.
did it work
did it work?
did it work?

Aris you da man, now when I get an Arcade Stick I'm going to practice this
I just found that review video of his and Boy do i feel like a dumb ass for asking on this video in the first place. Yes that stick looks brilliant, and perfect for me because I play fighting games both on my ps3 and pc . Thank you for the help.
Sanwa parts. I would go with an Eightarc Fusion.
Man, really this helped me a TON! thanks aris youre the man :D
yes. press back twice and using your thumb to press the middle of the back and down button. so press back twice then d/b, b, d/b and so on. that's how I do it :D
i've been doing it on the 1P side the whole time and then when i did it on the 2p side, it went better and smoother. I was like "woah"
love your new video quality I will subscribe now

Go with whatever works for you man.
That is the eightarc stick is it not? I was really really thinking about getting it. I play TTT2 SSF4 and P4. Is it a good stick and is it worth it?
i didn't understand your comment what's karateka .. and what's the ball in the fist ?
and what does that have to do with the other thing ...... i'm lost can you explain to me ?
What's the difference between korean back dash, and back dash?
btw nice tutorial man
That round black bruise on your left hand
Oh yes, the infamous korean backdash.
Largely the reason of why TTT was much of a turtlefest.
Hello,
may i ask what kind of joystick are you using? the one you have seems to be much better than those Hori tekken stick. your input is greatly appreciated!
what kind of joystick you're using? im using a sanwa JLF joystick and it seem have a slight delay while doing a back dash or it might just be me doing it wrong
this shit is just what i needed ... i been neglecting my homies and its fucking up my movement.
definitely thank you for the hand cam
Yes, of course.
Tekken revolution is still a Tekken although it lacks the bound mechanic.
Good luck~!
This really helped
thanks brew
These are awesome vids Aris
But the main man said to do back back down back im confused
Don't listen to The Main Man. He's a troll trying to disguise himself as a good player.
Morgoth1990 He is a bit of a schmuck.
+CoviellotheScrub
The Main Man isn't bad, but there are other channels out there. Be sure to look everywhere to see.

So, it still works. I've been doing it that way on Xbox and PS3 using the respective controllers for both.
Back back down back works for him because he uses a stick and he ends up doing a quarter circle back anyways
it would be legit Aris if you could compile a list of back sway characters.
same inputs :) back back to start the backdash, then back/downback back/downback and so on..
read again my friend, some people specialise in such a field.
Damn! I only play for fun. This is just another level for me. But is all good knowing this game can be deeper than it already is in my mind. :D
Back and forward dash cancelling is zo damn hard with characters that have a command dash, musn't hit that down input, if that isn't the case it is WAY easier.

Just do b,n,qcb over and over again. I do it on pad and can do K. Back dashing pretty well :)

Somewhat, but people's backdashes have been nerfed I think so you'll be little slower and more likely to get hit regardless.
what is the exact input for the second method with qbc ?
i used d-pad and i think the second method is better or less complex
Hey Aris. I want to buy a stick. I was wondering about the one you are using in this tutorial. I want to order one and specifics would be nice
Why is this better than just tapping back? I don't play tekken but doesn't seem more efficient. Just curious..
does it matter what gate we use for korean back dash like what's better a square or a octagon?
Thanks for the good explanation aris!
Damn whats up with them knuckles did you used to box or something
hTKO Aris is a wrestling fan
You ask that only because you missed the old TTT days, dear.
The game won't let me use the analog. The character only moves with the pad.
can you do a korean sidestep tutorial? i got the back dash/ wave dash already, i just want that SS
i just have a ps3 controller and i am not sure if it is possible to do there?
are you vulnerable during the down back input ?
well I guess like everything else you just gotta learn and get used to it.
don't you have a tutorial on back dashing cancels with a d pad even if you don't play on a pad?
Travis Bickle this helped me ! thank you :)
Travis Bickle Seems like a pretty good tip. Wish there was a video demonstration using your method.
its not un-doable on pad just 100 times easier on stick
Try doing it with a controller (Ps3 user). Difficult to get use to.
I'm training it on 360
yeah as a 360/One user who plays toggle on controller, this shit is difficult
Does this apply to pad players plz let me kno. My bdc is bb qcb b qcb b qcb b qcd am i doing this correct plz relpy
Tapping back won't do this. The idea is that it's like wavedashing in marvel. You actually have to back dash and crouch and repeat. This is an easier way of performing it. Though it's not terribly easy. Jeez. Just spamming back won't move your character anywhere quickly.
ahem harry potter, starscream, dj kor, nyc fab are all scrubs are they?
What better for tekken square gate or oct gate
so the command will be b,b,db,b,db,b,db.... or b,b,db,b,b,db,b,b,db,,,, same for the qcb???
its an eightarc stick he must have modded the ball tip to a clear one
How do you see those things under your character?
Lol theres a cheap way of doing this! Set your Arcade stick directions (left and right) on turbo. Hold back, and when you see the dash, input the d/b. Its cheap but its the closest I've ever been to Korean standard =)
which characters have sways besides paul?
My biggest issues is when to do a backdash. I think in battle I'm too close and get punished for it.
Does this work in Tekken Revolution? is there a need for it in that game?
Thank you very helpful!!!
going to show how to do this on pad?
Are mishima characters not backsway?
