I came through those football times and forgot just how fast the games were then. Just one substitute and yet so few injuries. Players just played through their knocks, unlike today.
These memories are YT at its best. Many thanks.

Really enjoyed this episode. Top class action.. Cooper, Giles, Clarke, Madely, Brooking, Hurst. A bust-up with Big Jack. And wasn't Ian Storey Moore a class act ? Super commentary by Moore and Hugh Johns. And evocative analysis by Jimmy Hill (and Big Jack). I could watch the 70-71 season Big Match all day long. More please.

For those wondering about the Blackpool incident, Moore and Greaves had been on a bender before a League Cup match. Many suspensions followed and many argue that Moore was never the same player

FA Cup match, actually, and it involved Brian Dear and Clyde Best as well. I think the four thought the game was going to be called off due to icy conditions, so they went out. But it went ahead. WHU lost 4-0 and looked terrible. Ron Greenwood was going to sack them all,, but was persuaded to suspend and fine them two weeks wages, though Brian Dear and Jimmy Greaves didn't play many more games for the Irons. Bobby did stay until '74 but the relationship with Ron wasn't the same as before. Clyde Best stayed longer till '75.

Unusual camera angle at Portman Road, the North Stand is to the right and Churchmans to the left

Ipswich fan here…brought back a few memories. Geoff Hammond was one of the worst players we ever had and Mick Hill was better known for his shagging than football prowess. Always great to see Colin Viljoen

Black and White owing to the 1971 Colour strike. I seem to remember.

They went on strike against colour telly? Probably the cost of one at nigh on £300 or a new car. We got neither. 1971 98% population couldn't afford a colour TV, in fact most of us rented them as repairs cost a lot with new valves. I miss the cathode tube, it became a family member.

think that's correct, sometimes studio lighting was dimmed instead, even the TV Times was quite often printed in B/w for the same reason

Something to do with the colour equipment being more complex to operate.
