Which CPU would you pick for the 4080 SUPER?
7800x3d or 7700x minimum as 6 cores isn't enough in 2024
@@KamilWyszynski-y3p what about the Ryzen 5 9600X? It'll be out next week.
Looks like I need to upgrade my CPU then to match it with my 4080S
@@KamilWyszynski-y3p A Ryzen 5 5600X3D is faster than a 5950X when it comes to games, so core count isn't everything.
@@theivadim ryzen 7 7800x3d 👍
For 4K alone, it is a great match up! Also by having this platform you have a good upgrade path along the road
Yes.
It is a very capable placeholder for 7800X3D or something much better in the future.
Though with Raytracing even at 1440p there would be no bottleneck.
And even without it nothing too significant.
Still capable enough placeholder.
And various upscaling tech can bypass possible limitations.
At this point, more and more people are accepting those as something good.
It’s not great at all it’s a mismatch.
@@ZackSNetwork It's not a mismatch if you're gaming at 4K, high settings, and are planning to upgrade. Why splurge on a CPU when more, possibly better cards are coming out?
i7 14700KF have way more cores and threads to operates than AMD 7600X,for cpu test you should use DLSS performanse to scale lower resolution, way more stress for CPU maybe ?
I'm trying out real-life scenarios. How I would use the PC. So, I don't want to use low resolution for the sake of finding the exact bottleneck. There's plenty of channels that do charts with that kind of info.
And a way higher chance to have an RMA in the first yr. Yay
Ye go buy 13th IR 14th gen intel xDDD
The matchup is absolute great as long as youre aiming for the best image quality on 4k display. Anything else or you looking for 144hz experience then yea. 7600x isnt quite enough in EVERY game but it is enough in a LOT of games and do not forget that there is frame gen(beit lsfg, afmf, fsr or dlss) that allows you to fully utilize your gpus extra performance so that you are no longer cpu bottlenecked. Yes.. framegen will increase gpu demand utilization and/or decrease cpu bettleneck.
I paired that cpu Ryzen 5 7600X and gpu RTX 4080 SUPER for 4K
With a stronger cpu in 4K it wouldn't get anything(maybe one or two miserable frames), but with a better gpu 4900 yes
(for 1080p and 1440p it makes sense to go for example Ryzen 7 7800X3D)
Exactly. 7600 is powerfull enough to handle full power of 4080 super. Bottleneck only happens when u lower resolution to 1440p or 1080p. Becoz the card is made for 4k. Only gpu 7600/7600x bottlenecks is 4090 with 6-7% bottleneck.
I don't really think anyone would pair a 4080s with a 7600x
I paired that cpu Ryzen 5 7600X and gpu RTX 4080 SUPER for 4K
Lots of people have already done this, even before the 4080s. It's not a bad pairing if you plan on upgrading your CPU and aren't doing any crazy rendering or CPU-heavy tasks.
My Rig. No issues and im getting the 9750x3D so 😃
For a 4K system, is makes sense. The cpu isn't the bottleneck with a 4080 at 4K.
I had a Ryzen 7 5800X with a Radeon RX 7900 XTX for Warzone 4K and it was absolutely fine.
It is a great idea if you are gaming only in 1440p ultra an 4k. It's what I do with the 13400f I get 98% gpu utilization on average and beauruof 20% cpu usage on average as it should be in 4k. Very very small bottleneck. But if you plan on 1080p gaming you should not do this period.
Bottleneck is to big even with my 13400f I will get usage warnings and stuttering from the bottleneck. I am a 4k gamer luckily and I mostly sim race so it's the perfect price/performance build I've ever done. May sound crazy as its still expensive but I built a beautiful minimal strix 4080 super build for less then 2k dollars.
Gpu temps never go above 62c and cpu temps never go above 58c. Using a lian li air mini case also which barely fit my 14.1inch strix it is almost touching the front fan but it works beautifully. Idle temps are 35c and again 62c undrr full load.
I run only 3 fans the stock lian li black fans. 2 intake on the front. 1 exhaust in the back. Straight tbrough direct airflow works beautifully. More fans do not equal more airflow it equals throwing more air around that can get stuck inside of the case. I've always used minimal fans with a direct flow and ive never had any temp issues with any builds I've done.
I'm using a standard air cpu cooler and again 58c I mean come on? Beautiful.
It sounds like a good build for your use case. Do you think you'll be upgrading to another GPU when RTX 50-series launches?
If I upgrade it has to be to the 5090 or it isnt worth it for me. If I have a good next 6 months then yes I'll buy a 5090. If not then no, won't even worry about it. I bought the 4080 super pretty late in this generations life. I had a 4060 at first. Then a 4070 super and now a 4080 super. I have a 4k panel and figured why tf not just go for it? Now it was the best decision I have ever made. Also the extra vram doesn't scrub away the textures which I actually noticed with the 4070 super. So I'm very very happy. I also got the best 4080 super on the market 😉 strix and i set its power limit to 420 one of the only 4080 supers that can do that. So i get a nice little boost. Got lucky with the silicone bought the none OC edition was able to push it to 3000mhz stable. So yeah gonna be hard getting rid of this one.
I actually still have the 4060 and 4070 super I am going to sell them for sure and probably hold onto that or buy a new cpu just to even this build out.
Gonna sell the 4060 for like 150 or 200 and the 4070 super for like 400. The 4070 super is actually a white strix dual OC. Also lucky silicone the clocks were way higher out of the box then I expected when in game. @@theivadim
I still think you should get something like Thermalright Assasin X which costs less than 20$ as it's more quiet.
I suppose even lower temperatures wouldn't interst you at this point, but against boxed cooler it should be something like 10 decibels more quiet which is HUGE.
Maybe even more more than 10.
@@reviewforthetube6485
You wasted money on Strix.
The difference vs other models is few frames at best.
1%-2% in most extreme cases.
Could have instead purchased some 200$ cheaper and for the difference get 7800X3D instead.
Would see bigger performance upgrade.
Great video. Thanks for this. The 4080 SUPER is a solid GPU for native 4K max settings at 60+ FPS in rasterized games. The 4080 SUPER has the raw performance to comfortably handle native 4K max settings in rasterized games. The 4080 and 4090 have smashed 4K raster. Hopefully, there will be a GPU that comfortably handles native 4K max settings with RT soon. As good as upscaling and frame gen can be, the raw performance needs to be there as well. Raw performance is more important than upscaling and frame gen, in my opinion.
Indeed, raw performance will always be the most important factor. Because that's where frames begin. Although I, almost always use DLSS upscaler set to Quality when I use a 4K monitor. There's just no reason not to use it now. It looks as good as native.
I don't think we'll see the RTX 50 smashing ray tracing performance in the same way as the 4090 did raster🙂 But I suspect that NVIDIA is working on some kind of DLSS-like ray tracing performance boosting technology.
@@theivadim The 50 Series could be a massive increase in terms of raw performance depending on what Nvidia decides to do. A massive factor that will affect the performance of the 50 Series is the process node.
Why?
IF DLSS Quality makes the game look as good as Native 4K and sometimes better, why is rasterisation so important?
I have a 7500f and 4080, Max settings 1440p is what I run and I have no complaints. I see bottlenecks here and there but with a lot of games the gpu is maxed out. I am waiting to see how the 9000 series x3d chips perform
This is just... stewpid. I wouldn't really do this myself. I think 7500F coupled with a 4070 would be enough for my lust and desire. Gaming at 4K is just not about GPU scenarios only. As much as you spend on the GPU, you shouldn't really cheap out on your CPU. For my next setup I swear I won't cheap out the CPU and VRAM. Both are important for the latest and greatest titles. 🤷🏻♀️
Can confirm the 7500f and 4070 are an awesome pairing
Kinda suprised that the 7600x bottlenecked the 4080 super that much at 4K VS i7 14700KF. Is it the core count that is the problem? Would a 7700x do alot better here?
Yeah it is surprising. Not sure this is totally accurate.. maybe but I double it. I am always GPU limited in demanding games with 5600x 4070 TI super at 4k even with upscaling.
I imagine the 7700X would be able to deliver 60+ FPS in 99% of games. I haven't tried the 7700X myself so can't vouch for it🙂
@@theivadim Would be interesting to see if you got hold of a 7700x. See if it's the core count holding back that 7600x. Also, 5700X3D/5800X3D would be interesting as they both have 8 cores and 16 threads
I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on the 7700X. I'm thinking about buying the Ryzen 7 9700X if the price isn't too high. I'll have to check reviews first. If the 9700X is close to the 7800X3D performance then I'll definitely consider getting it.
@@christophermullins7163Same here. 4070 Ti + 5600. And this CPU rarely bottlenecks this card at 4K + DLSS Quality/Balanced.
I am using 3800MHz/CL15 RAM, so my 5600 should be right on par with 7600(X), paired with 5200MHz RAM.
7600 + 6000MHz/CL30 should be even faster.
8 cores is a must have imo. Even consoles have 8.
He is basing his tests on 3-4 games.
Should have been 20.
Or 40.
Perhaps even during combat which is probably most important.
I understand , challenging Fireclaw or in a jungle or Apex Slaughter Spine or Thunderjaw or even a group of some midgame smaller enemies in Forbiden West is simply too scary.
There is no shame loosing against those.
So he should just play on easiest difficulty to relatively quicky locate some extremely challenging enemies and then test it on Normal or Hard.
On easiest they fall too easely.
No time for fireworks.
I wonder how would 5700X3D and 5800X3D fare.
If owners of such CPUs wanted to upgrade their GPUs, want Nvidia features and superior Raytracing, but can't afford 4090 so instead of 7900XTX they choose 4080 Super.
5800X3D especially should be able to match 14700KF or be very close to it .
Buying 7600X or 7600(performance difference in favor of 7600X is negligable)as a very capable placeholder is a good idea in my opinion.
And then after a year or 2 , if necessary upgrade to 7800XD or something.
Also, the ever improving Frame Generation must be tested.
No ever improving Frame Generation tested.🙄 FSR3.1 and DLSS 3.7 .
Or AMD's Fluid Motion Frames in supported games.
Also Intel's XeSS techonogy .
Perhaps 40 games would be too much.
But 20?
20 should be doable.
that CPU temperature !!!
You are basing your tests on 3-4 games.
Try 20.
Or 40.
Perhaps even during combat.

Before even watching im going to guess bottleneck 😂
can you play cod warzone with 1080 p and the same rtx 4080 super and 7600x
I don’t have the 4080 anymore so can’t check
RTX4080 is very good and power efficient card , just priced is bit wired 😅 [🤖💰]
I have a bad feeling that the RTX 5080 will be priced even worse😄
Pairing a low end CPU with a high end GPU is just dumb.
No. If you play in 4k it's actually smart
Guys.. dlss is unvelievable if you havent used it yourself. FYI. At 4k.. Dlss quality looks at least as good as native 95% of the time and dlss balanced looks better than fsr quality. Sure you get more "performance" with AMD but given how great dlss looks you can use a more aggressive upscaling and match amd with as good or better image quality. I had a 6950 xt for a year before it blew itself up and now own a TI super so ive seen it all. DLSS is hyped yet still underrated.
dlss quality just lowers my fps instead of increasing them because I have an underpowered cpu
Amazing 😂That One Video
4080 Super 😊
Op
By The Way Sir I See Lot On Video And I Assume Like
Ryzen 5 7600X And Ryzen 7 7800X 3D Has Same Fps On 1440P Gaming Because We Using Same Gpu Test Maybe That's Why 😅
By The Way Only Some Games Has 4 To 9 Fps Boost On 3D Cpu OtherWise All The Time They Have Same Fps On 1440P
I'm finding it hard to believe that the 7800X3D performs that close to the 7600X. As you can see in this video, even the i7 14700KF offers a significantly better experience. I'd expect the 7800X3D to do even better.

7800X3D maybe better 😊
Too much of a bottle eck
