- In this video, I show you the difference between table calculations and level of detail expressions with the % of total calculation.
I review:
1. How to compute a % of total with a table calc
2. How to compute a % of total with an LOD
3. How filters impact these calculations
4. How context filters impact level of detail expressions
5. Tableau's order of operations

this has been the most useful Tableau tutorial I've ever watched. Thank you!
Really easy to understand the diff between Table Calculations and LOD's , Thanks Andy
Happy to help
Nice one Andy. Thanks for the video.
This is awesome. Thanks for the thorough order of operations sheet. 😀
I’m glad you like it.
Awesome, Andy! Kind of "mastering the fundamentals" tutorial ...
That’s the idea. 😊
Thank you for the video and the downloadable information!
Glad it was helpful!
Really helpful instructions. Thank you for your time and effort
Thanks for watching!
"Add to context" just ended my months of pursuit to figure out how to combine "include" , "Exclude" on my "Fixed" LOD!!!!! You are awesome!
Perfect!
Thanks Andy for cleared my doubts with your simple examples..
Glad to hear that
Thank you!! Exactly what I needed. Mind-blowing stuff to a newbie like me.
Glad it was helpful!
This is brilliant and very clear! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
thank you for the super nice explanation, btw I love your medal collection haha, so many :v
Great Brother ! 😀
Great explanation.. Although, Tableau can be very complicated to digest. But with practice and patience, these notions become easier to understand! Thank you
Thanks. Keep in mind though, any tool can appear complicated at the start. Most do. Even excel and PowerPoint.
Thank you, Andy.
You're very welcome
What a man you are 👍👍 superb explanation
That’s great to hear Koti. Thank you.
really appreciate it Andy.
learn something new 👍👍👍
Perfect! That’s what I’m hoping for. 👍🏻
I think what I like most about this video is that bro is making it in his hallway
It’s my desk before I got a green screen. My dog makes the occasional appearance. 🐕🦺
I have Xerox copy of it...... Practiced on it 😀
❤❤❤
Very nice explanations. What video software did you use?
I use my iPhone as a camera with OBS and Cleanshot for my screen. The initial editing cut is done by me in Final Cut Pro and then the b-roll is done by an editor.
@@vizwiz Excellent! Thank you.
Hi Andy, is there any way we can use table calculation function like window_sum, window_max etc or ATTR fn in our LOD Calculation??
Not possible. LODs are calculated before table calcs.
I am curious about those medals.
Lots of running!
man, I'm going to have to watch this at 0.25 speed and really study it
It’s worth it! :-)
