I hate how they literally made up the story as they went and didn’t plan everything beforehand, I want a mystery to actually have clues in it that help me figure it out, not distract me

They couldn’t plan everything out because they didn’t know if they would get another season. The original plan was for the Cece reveal to be the finale, but the show got renewed for seasons 6 and 7, so the Alex arc was the extra seasons.

@@NightRises234not true actually. It was supposed to end on season 4 but Warner saw the success of the show and offered them more money to do 3 more seasons. Trojan revealed it on a interview when the show ended

@@thecatjonas it was always supposed to end with Cece is my point, but getting more seasons is what prevented them from planning things out from the start

If they gave us the twin trophe then make it arias twin..not spencer..with aria it would have made so much more sense because of all the Aria should have been A theories and hints 🤝🏻🧠🤔

the twin thing definitely could have worked if they followed the books OR if they just made Ali big A after how her return was so off

Spencer ended up being the most important character but yet got the crappiest ending out of the Liars. The finale just left more questions more than answers.

"How they figured it out was between a different perfume and a horse- 😐"
When you break it down like that, bestie, it really is god awful 😭😭 I remember laughing at the finale for so many reasons. That show will always be one that I say had such potential, but due to their lack of care and actually planned out storyline, rather than their play by ear and make up as we go...Just wasn't it. 😞

I agree! Showrunners want to pull the rug on audiences but in the internet age that is hard to do. PLL is not the only show to do this just to "subvert audiences" I highly believe they did the same with Gossip Girl's reveal because people figured it was the maid so they changed it to someone else last minute to get that shock value even when it makes no sense in hindsight. They want us to be smart enough to pick up the clues they are laying but if we are TOO smart and figure it out they can/will change it to get that "shock" not understanding that people love having that "I knew it!" moment over a shocking twist out of left field. All great mysteries usually have that moment of realization at the reveal of how they got away with it over the years(seasons) but Alex is so disconnected from the story showing her as A also feels removed from everything we learned so far. I personally think they WANTED to make one of core four A but because everyone had their "favorites" they were afraid to commit in the end and decided last minute to add a "twin" they could make the villain. Then they could make one of the main girls A but not really... I wish shows didn't do this because it takes the foundation of the show and tosses it out the window in the name of a subpar twist. Alex could have worked better if there were more hints of her existence before the last season but since she was tacked onto the last season we didn't get that emotional payoff they were building up till then.

    It's actually sad
    O remember PLL being gigantic.
Like, it's fandom could easily compete with fandoms like Game of Thrones, Marvel, The Walking Dead etc.
    But now, nobody cares.
The final episode killed it's legacy

Wren made so much more sense as A. His connection to Radley and the fact he was there from the first episode the way he had no backstory and they could have done anything for it.

Can you imagine if Alison was the last ‚A’?? I think that would be so good, because everyone thought she had this redemption and she gets less and less relevant x but then in the last episode you find out that she was the villian all along, and this vintage awful Alison comes back (she was always there, just acting like a desent person) xd and what if she was dating Noel the whole time, and nobody knew (it would make sense that he was always helping A)

I could see the twin thing working better if from the beginning of season 7 it was actually Alex from ep 1 - she kidnapped Spencer before the story picks up again kept her in like a mini dollhouse the whole season we have no idea.
Would explain a lot of things like her willing to cross the line and date Caleb - and the girls slowly realise something is off with “Spencer” throughout the season think toward the end of the season it’s because she’s AD not that it’s not Spencer .. they eventually catch/confront her fully believing Spencer is AD - they have the betrayal feeling Iike one of their own in a AD they are processing that for an ep or two- we are traumatised and shocked.
Then ‘Spencer’ (who is Alex) gets arrested along with Wren who was still alive he went along with it kinda resistantly but in the background running the doll house , once he is arrested he finally confesses and reveals it’s actually Alex pretending to be Spencer and the real Spencer is locked up in the mini doll house (because he’s concerned she will die locked in with no one coming to feed her and no way out )
So then Spencer escapes and we get the full backstory of how Spencer was kidnapped and tortured for all of season 7. And Alex truly took over her life for a whole season which is what she wanted anyways - not just a few random scenes and then the 1 day in the finale but Alex was Spencer the whole season.
WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER 👏🏻 👏🏻

If the finales of PLL, Gossip Girl and Game of Thrones have taught us anything, it's that creators/writers trying to "outsmart" and shock the audience (at the expense of the overall plot, characters, logic, etc.) can quite literally RUIN a show for viewers. It's especially criminal for a MYSTERY series like PPL - the whole point and draw of the genre is that the audience gets to follow along and play armchair detective, so if you abandon all the clues you put in place for years and then pull the reveal out of your ass at the last second, you're betraying and alienating the audience all for a cheap "Gotcha!"

You can tell they made the story up as the show was going on, they could have taken time to plan a proper and real A reveal. It felt rushed & made NO SENSE!

Rewatching pll a lot older (I think I was 9 when I first watched it 😭) not only can I see that Aria and Ezra’s relationship is a literal criminal offence… they never had any chemistry. I will forever hate that couple
