Nice informative video. I believe oxygen cylinders are seat to seat valves and should be opened all the way, otherwise they can leak around the stem packing (2000 psi is a lot of pressure). For additional safety leave the wrench on the acetylene bottle you don't want to go looking for that during an emergency.
Thank you so much! I bought one almost a year ago, but for any reason, or maybe I was a little bit scary to use it. Now after your video I've got the information that I can trust. Now, I'm absolutely sure what to do with my tools and how to check it first be sure it's safe. Please film in the next. Videos how to weld reversing valve properly. Some welding tips. Thank you, Craig!)
The nut on the torch tip is to be hand tightened only. Not sure why they put a hex on it but it does say in the manual to not use a wrench on these tips. Its not a metal on metal seal like some older torches were, overtightening will damage your o rings and cause leaks, backfires,or worse
Imagine dragging in buckets n a fire extinguisher wrenches torch and all ur hand tools to the attic where the e coli is and ur boss wants you to go to another job
Yes we always put the bubble leak detector on and then turn the gas on. The detector won't go anywhere and this way right when you open the tank up, you can check for leaks, thanks and yes arrestors can be added as well. Thanks Dennis!
Need some advice please. I found regulator gauge sets on amazon for light duty use, but it says it fits all acetylene tanks EXCEPT FOR MC AND B TANKS and I wanted to use tanks the same size as this video (MC acetylene tank). Could I use adapters or is there a regulator set I can use with these MC tanks and the small oxygen tank in this video? Thanks for all the great videos and the help.
Where is the flashback arrestors or check valves. I have similar torch and bottles and very confuse about flashback arrestors installation. I bought Flashback Arrestor Set. Inline, 1/4 inch Barbs and I'm in the way to cut the hoses and install arrestors. Flashback arrestors is not available for 3/8-24 A hoses. I like to see some body to cut hoses and install arrestors and what clamps can be used.
Craig, how about a video on Oxy Acetylene vs Air Acetylene? Pros and cons of both and which you prefer to use most often. Thanks for all the great videos.
For lighting I turn on acet. and then oxygen. Turning off I turn off oxygen and then acet. There are forum where people preach every way possible. I don't think it matters, but turning off acet. first can sometimes cause a pop sound when the flame goes out that can make newbies jump. Lol
I agree there are many ways. Turning the oxygen up and turning the off acetylene off first is what stops the popping sound without making any bad black soot in the air, thanks kneeman7!
The pop sound is the flame going completely out, it is reaching the perfect burning mixture and causing the pop. This pop is a handy cleaning aid blowing out any little sparks that may have lodged in the blowpipe and carbon as well.
Great video of safety points! Your ABC rated fire extinguisher would suit your purposes better if it had a hose on the end just in case you had a fire through a wall penetration. It shouldn't happen but mistakes do happen....
@@acservicetechchannel It's not something you realize you need until you have a new helper find d out he didn't have enough thermal paste/wet rags and something is burning behind the brick wall. Not a good time to find out your fire extinguisher is pretty much useless.
Congratulations! I just bought this kit and I got the bottles refilled. My question is how long do the bottle contents last? I started using the torch today and I tested my cutting attachment which was maximum 5 mins and I did some welding which was around 15 mins total. now my Acetylene was at 200 psi and now it's less than 100, What's going on? How long do the tanks last when you use them?
These tanks are meant for remote use when you can’t get a big rig , if you got an Mc rig thats like 10 cubic feet, and by what you described that sounds normal, so quick repairs I would suggest and it’s more suited for a lower oxygen flame for brazing , cutting with an Mc/10cf rig you’ll be blowing through oxy like crazy
Great job as always! I don't normally see most of the guys use the eye shield. Is that shield used because the bright light from the flame can cause damage to the eye or just used to protect against the obvious damage the heat from the flame can cause in an accident?
You can, you likely don't open the oxygen handle as much though but whatever you are comfortable with and can attain the right flame with, thanks Electric Boogie!
What about your hazmat gear? LOL just kidding. Any guy working for someone else had better follow basic safety! My buddy brazes with no eye protection, no gloves, no fire extinguisher and this 30 year AC vet wont be told otherwise... weird he doesn't even wear reading glasses.
You absolutely must open the oxygen tank valve all the way to back seat otherwise you could lose the contents of the tank it will leak. Just crack the acetylene tank valve is fine.

Do you use/recommend flashback arrestors on your torch setup?
Great professional vid! Whats the reason for the red hose reverse thread?? Only thing I can think of is so the hoses won't twist?
great explanation

and one to check list, check the packing nut on acetylene tight and bubble test,, my was loose

Hi.. happy new year .
You only hand tighten the tip. Using a wrench will crush the o rings and lead to premature failure.
For lighting I turn on acet. and then oxygen. Turning off I turn off oxygen and then acet.

Nice tip Mentorcase!
How do you clean handle and tips for regular maintenance
Excellent explanation.
One question. Why don’t they have a handle on acytline tank similar to oxygen tank? That would be more easier in emergency
They actually are in the process of changing them over to the easier to shut off handle now but there is a lot of old tanks out there, thanks!
Hey what's the working hours on a setup like that. Well explained video thanks
Great video of safety points! Your ABC rated fire extinguisher would suit your purposes better if it had a hose on the end just in case you had a fire through a wall penetration. It shouldn't happen but mistakes do happen....

I really love your video man! It really helped me to set up my oxy acetylene equipment since iam a beginner, by the way I just subscribed.
Correct me if I am wrong but I can't see flashback arrestors fitted on both ends!! Is this normal practice or do we have safety issues here?
Are there any mini brazing torch for DIY Jobs

Can you make a video for oxy propane torch?
What type of grease can I use to lubricate the knobs on the torch handle? I have a Victor torch handle and they are hard to turn off and on.
Good info for safety.
👌👍👍👍

Good call on the water.. water and molten metal is a lot of fun!!
I'm being a smart a$$ sand for safety water explodes hot metal..I work in a brass foundry.
How many oxygen pressure ?
Is the #2 tip the best all around tip you like to use? Thanks.
It is the tip that is most normally used unless you are talking large tubing for big commercial applications, thanks Danny!
Brilliant video
Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it
Can we use fuel gases for swaging or flaring of dishends
Excelente
Uniweld video said you can just hand tight the tip. Doesn't seem right to me. I'd just tighten it with a wrench but not too tight.
I do 5/20 on a 3. Is that ok? It works for me, but I will try the 5/10
You can, you likely don't open the oxygen handle as much though but whatever you are comfortable with and can attain the right flame with, thanks Electric Boogie!
Are the 5/10 psi pressures the same for brazing in plumbing?
No flashback arrestors?
Certainly you can add them as well, thanks
What are your thoughts on a Turbo Torch set up?
Air acetylene will work just fine! I use those as well, thanks!
The A-11 tip is the one I use the most, thanks

I take it you don't braze 1-1/8" and larger by the way you're explaining
👍

open the tank valves all the way, they were designed to work that way.
Hey David, the manufacturers and distributors all recommend to only crack the acetylene tank which is fine for the output to the reg, thanks!
Should not open acetylene tank valve more than 1/2 turn. Not needed.
You absolutely must open the oxygen tank valve all the way to back seat otherwise you could lose the contents of the tank it will leak. Just crack the acetylene tank valve is fine.
OMG Bubble boy
wtf
You don't want fire erupting from a loose hose. Seen it, its not fun!
Very good but the fire is too long it's going to burn other stuff
