Gutted but proud. There is so much growth ahead for this young England team. Smith will get criticism for the penalties missed but he played very well I thought.

Maybe he should not be goal kicking, leave it to Slade for example.

England are looking like a good side, credit to Borthwick for the growth and purpose being shown. They will gain confidence from this performance and the AB's will get better for next week. Looking forward to round 2.

Great analysis, great test rugby! Teams are so close these days, this could have gone either way. Promising English side, the Furbank is class. Looking forward to next week at the garden, both sides will be better for the game, ABs by 10.

Great match, we're definitely moving in the right direction, the main difference between the teams is the bench, we just have weaker replacements in key positions, we actually made the ABs change tactics and become a kicking team!😱
A few missed tackles/missed kicks/breakdown errors, but overall really positive.

I have heard that the kick success rate in Dunedin is really low in general. Not saying that I didn’t expect smith and Mackenzie to do better.. but something to consider

Englands best chance of a win. As it turned out in my eyes a battle of attrtion. The ABs will settle down now for the next test as the previous unknown is now known and of course Eden Park

Smiths defense is so amazing, guy puts it all in, just like that game against fiji last world cup

  • @swapacrate

England are so committed to their defence where you can see a lot of space in behind. Be good for us (ABs) to work out moves to take advantage of this space. I think since it was our first game we were playing as simple game plan as possible and going a bit lateral. If we straighten up sometimes and also wrap around where there is space down the blind. Also, more tactical kicking for territory, to put pressure on, in right areas. But hey Robertson will watch this and see the space, so expect a difference in next week game. But what a game, England were awesome and definitely could have won. Both teams played well with a tonne of intensity. Exciting.

The two young AB props in the squad who were not used are both around 140kg mark. Throw in the injured no 2 hooker who is also big & powerful, and you have potentially a 400kg front row.

Fingers crossed that Baxter, Iyogun and the U20 Props who look like they have huge potential come through pretty quickly. Along with Genge we'd then have a fair bit of depth! Need to fast track them

I only got to watch the highlights, 12 mins, but McKenzie ignoring the ref wasn't the only time the All Blacks ignored him. I heard him telling the the AB's to "use it" several times at a scrum, and they didn’t, resulting in a penalty to England. Cmon boys, you're not playing backyard footy with your mates. Respect the ref!

My view England had their best chance of beating the All Blacks once they won the first test match there up and running the my prediction for second test match is a big All Blacks victory 🏉🏉🧐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Excellent analysis and very interesting. England did much better than I thought they would but I always thought the NZ pack would be too strong for England to handle. Pleased Finn Baxter did well for the time he was on the pitch. A real hope for now and the future. It is such a shame that Trevor Davidson wasn't included in the touring squad as I think he would be better than Will Stuart..

    • @06alepea1
      @06alepea1 7 дней назад

I thought Stuart was fine. De Groot got away with a lot of illegal scrummaging and was only penalised late on.

Spot on review. Good game both sides, England missed chances and looked sluggish in the last quarter, scrums and line outs need to be improved. NZ very solid and exciting, plenty of route 1 running off the ruck. D-Mack just insane hands and vision

In regards to respecting the kicker, we weren't booing England in the beginning. Just started when the game came to fine margins to try and throw the kicker off.

The All Blacks have not played together since the World Cup final. England have been together for months and played six games before this one. The bench was crucial tonight.

Razor won us that game he made early changes and changed game plan on the fly

I really wondered why perofeta was taken off for beauden but in the end, I think kicking array got us over the line as far as the 1 point win is concerned. We were doing a lot of play and attack but all of it outside of the eng 22. There really is a difference in test match rugby and one of those differences is where you are playing the game. Its not super rugby. Glad the abs could adapt

Can see why Ben Spencer has rarely been picked for England. Just terrible would be shocked if Randall doesn’t come in for him next week.
Steve Borthwick mentioned the impact New Zealand’s bench had on the game. Can’t but help feel Marcus Smith would be better coming off the bench has an impact player.

    ‘could’ve, should’ve, would’ve’ NOT good enough the Roses⁉️
Both England and Auzzies goal kicking letting them down badly
The AB’s DMac conversion ruled ‘timed out’ must surely be the hardest of his career…gutted
    So it goes
Lucky escape for Razor et al
Now for the second round to remove ALL doubt or uncertainty in both directions
Good going on both sides though ~ its early days Test Season
    England were unfortunate
but so the Game goes when the margins are SO SO tight
    Next one :
    let us see
NOW the men get sorted one shot…⁉️

N.Zealand jt a tad lucky to get the victory in my opinion They pent alot of the match coming in from theside and going off their feet [.Barrett turn over classic case OF A WEONG DECISION] Alo E.De Groot should have been penalised many times at the crum for coming up on the outside Apart from those niggles That was one hell of a test match and was in the balance for almost all the match Both sides will improve for next wek so again it could be anyones

Felt the game was there to be won but we lacked real leadership throughout. We missed Farrell so much in those tight games, his leadership, his goal kicking and I can promise you late on he of Ford would have had a plan for a drop goal

Great effort by and large. I think moving forward England might have to look at improving Mitchell's fitness to play the whole game like Dupont and Gibson-Park often do. Sorry to say Spencer looked like a rabbit in the headlights, so slow in everything he did.

Congratulations NZ, scrum breakdown and scrum won them the game, although the legality of the NZ loosehead was debateable throughout.
Feels like one that got away as an English supporter, that would have been massive. Lots of positives to come out of the game from England, feeps like they're going in the right direction for sure and with a bit more experience feel like they'll close out those tight games in future.
Smith leaving 8 points out there from regulation kicks will come under scrutiny but it happens.

Apparently some of the NZ pundits want away with the scrum, the facet of the game that probably gave them the win today. I wonder what those pundits are saying now?
Fair play to both teams, I'm just happy that it was a competitive match 😄

    • @Gazzatron666

Nobody n NZ wants to get rid of the scrum. They just want it to be set quicker instead of a prop going down and taking a 5 min break

I've heard talk about doing away with scrums from free kicks but doing away with scrums completely seems far fetched. Scrums have been a massive asset for NZ sides during the professional era so I can't see many supporting doing away with them.
