Thanks for not being a know it all expert. A great video where you have done the research for us and are professional enough to admit when you struggled to come to grips with a new piece of tech. Now the question I shoot mainly interviews and need a quiet slider, got the 31inch neewer but it makes loud whining noises when looping at the end A and B points as motor reverse's direction. The noise is coming from motor. is your one quiet enough to use in an interview situation when using it for looping B Roll footage. The Neewer noise could be picked by external mics. Neewer have now admitted it's a problem with the motor. Thanks Tony
So its a yes and no asnwer. When u use this in very cold environments it whines a little but at full speed. Using any kind of external mic .. a lav or a over head boomed mic fixes it. But the internal mic will def pick the whine up. Now n normal operating temps..its damn quiet and seems to be good all together
Yea, I have the newer one on order as well. Not much info out there on it, but one reviewer didn't like it and returned it. Maybe I'll review it and toss it out here once I have some time to learn it. I have no experience with motorized sliders, so holding out hope this does the trick!
Great video. I've actually bought one. Now - the belt gets slightly kinked being wrapped around the rollers during storage so where can people get a new belt from as I can't seem to track any down on ebay or amazon. 8mm width belt but all seem to be 6mm or 10mm on the net. Always good to have a reserve belt anyway and disconnect the belt when not using it for long periods of time between shoots to avoid the belt kinking.
Can you highlight which Sony Camera battery you are referencing in your video? The Sony A7 iii battery last a long time I have used one for a week. When I added a battery grip extender I have not encountered an issue whatsoever.
Great review man - I've been trying to figure out whether or not this can handle diagonal and vertical shooting, and you answered that question for me. Very thorough!
@@VikingCreatives Hey there, so I've bought the slider but I seem to have problems getting my GH4 camera to communicate with the remote for the shoot-move time lapse feature. Did you encounter similar problems? I'm not sure if there is any settings I need to tweak in the GH4 for it to work
Great video Did you shoot anything vertically on it? I ordered it today on an amazon 20 off offer and then i contacted the customer service and the say it doesn't support vertical shoot and the maximum load is 2.5 kg which is odd because the Amazon said 5kg. I got my answer atcthe end of the video.thanks. I still don't know why the said the max load is 2.5kg
Great review! Is the rotating base (where you attached your ball-head) wobbly on different modes (tracking, panorama, fixed)? I'd like to change my shutter speed on my camera on the fly while doing time-lapse but if the rotating base has play, that would give me problems. Thanks!
Those looks like a decent cheap alternative to the surprise slider that I wanted... But I would really like to see a fly wheel on a slider of going freehand
Thanks for the great review! I have a similar GVM model and notice that there's some play in the circular mount, such that it freely rotates several degrees in each direction. The problem I is that it becomes tricky to aim the camera exactly how I want it, since when the motor kicks in, the momentum causes the camera to rotate slightly from where I had set it. Have you noticed this issue with your slider?
Viking Creative Studios- Did you consider mounting your Zhiyun Crane to the slider? I'm looking to do this for more interesting time lapse shots and also video panning so I, effectively, have 3 axis motion. Let me know your thoughts because I'm looking to buy one of these sliders and I have the Crane 2. One other question. If this is doing a vertical video and the motors hand controller switches off/disconnects somehow, theoretically the motor's brake will then release and drop the camera to the bottom end of the slider wouldn't it? I'd want to put some dense rubber/foam at the end to mitigate that kind of outcome.
@Viking Creative Studios - Hey mate. I got 2 notifications of the replies you posted but clicking on them, they don't actually show up anywhere. Can you reply to here for me to read them please? Thanks :)
Thanks heaps for the review. One question ... Can you do a long timelapse of about 3 -4 hours duration before it gets from one end to the other ...??? My intended use would be astro timelapse so the shutter speeds are long and of course you need more time to get the required number of shots.
Yea long as ur doing 30 sec exposures or something like that it will work over that long .. it's a little different then just setting a standalone timelapse because u can also set the stop time for how long before u want slider to move... But no matter how u slice it the max number of stops or photos I've been able to get is near 1400. How long it takes to get to that is fully dependent on your other setting
@@nightscapeimages.richard no prob at all.. it's why I bought the slider to begin with.. timelapses .. and I know alot of others don't have much info on it either
@@HeadFirstFishing go to GVM Web, you'll see two more versions of this slider: 2 Axis & 3 Axis motorized sliders. its with Motorized head + Wireless Controller. I want to see the review of them but there is none on youtube so far. I guess they just came out
I'm hearing a hiss at 10:06 when you turn on the controller. Is it interfering w/ a wireless lav or something? Or is it coming from the remote itself? Great review BTW!
Hi I understand that the slider can run on an external; power supply what voltage and amps is that most of my gear I run external power to get longevity for longer shoots I guess it is the DC input
Hey man, nice detailed video. Can u please tell me one thing - is there any other battery available for it that can last 12 hours? coz I'm planning to have a day-night-day shoot
Yea I've done some 10hr ones with a larger cap battery. Look on Amazon u can get some pretty high mAh ones for longer timelapses etc.. there also is a DC power port if u look for a power cord u can plug into or rig up a large power source too for extra long sessions
Hi, Great video and many thanks for posting. I have a fuji cam that has internal intervalometer which i plan to use instead of connecting the slider to my cam. Is this possible or is it mandatory to do the connection and bypass the internal intervalometer of my fuji or any other camera? I suppose, it could work in sync if i set the same time values on my cam and the device in order to move the slider in sync with my timelapse intervals. But i am not sure
You may be able to get Lucky and time it but its not gonna be exact... Because it stops and shoots as it triggers for a photo. U would def be better off to just connect it and let it trigger the camera for u.
@@VikingCreatives nice, i got it. I just send them an email to check if the slider controller can be connected to the Fuji X-T3. This is the exact model you previewed, right? > gvmled.com/products/gvm-gvm-gp-120qd-professional-video-carbon-fiber-motorized-camera-slider
Do you happen to know how many shots it can take in one pass? It was a little confusing. Does a longer exposure affect the distance between shots for some reason? I can't find any values for this anywhere.

Super helpful! I had the same battery issue with my Sony. Got the dummy too.
Yes for the older Sonys it was really the only work around

This is the 31 Inch... And its huge too big for alot of stuff as it is.... The 48 would be way over the top for me
