    the cover to the right of the motherboard is reversible! you get more room if you turn it the other way. thats why there are contact pads on both sides. at least thats how it is on my NV7. its for EATX support. the bottom bracket is also angled because they tested and the 13 or 15 degree angle is optimal for airflow to the gpu mounted in a traditional way. hope this helped :)

    The 24pin cover on the case can be flipped to increase room to allow increased room for EATX mobos

  • @mziv112
    @mziv112 7 месяцев назад +6

    about the asus mobo not fitting:
    you can flip the vertical cover with the pogo pins upside down and turn it 90 degrees to fit into the case in a different orientation that accommodates eatx mobos like the asus one much more easily.
    Just as a side note, you can fit a 280 rad (and also a 240 rad even on the nv7) in the back between the mount and the back door, with only the fans inside the main area of the case itself (if the rad itself is slim enough 27 mm in the nv7, not sure of the clearance in the nv9). I put a 240 rad in my nv7 over there and it is a much cleaner look. if i were to put the rad itself in the main area and not between the mount and the door than the fans would cover the mobo. if you put it in back then you can perfecty fit 30mm thick fans in there without obstructing the mobo and it looks hella clean!
    i don't tend to upload YT videos but i did upload a short on my channel of my nv7 build to show my off to my friends. whoever wants can check it out! It is a full custom loop cooling the cpu and the gpu with a monoblock gpu block and a distro, 240 rad in back, 360 rad on the bottom and a thockboii 360 rad in push pull config on top to fill in the space there. 13900k 4090, with d30 fans (bottom intake the rest exhaust).

      Him not even trying to turn around that right piece made me so freaking angry :(

  • @Valfarr
    @Valfarr 7 месяцев назад +8

    That right side piece you cant fit back because of the motherboard, you can flip it and the other side gives you a bit more clearance. They made it that way so one fits ATX and flipping it gives you room for an EATX. At 20:15 you can see how the side facing the camera also has a gap and the sides are shorter. You can also see the 2 screw holes on top of it to also mount the GPU bracket when you flip it. Will it be enough to clear that Asus motherboard? Maybe? I have an NV7 that fits my EATX fine by flipping it. I assume it's the same with the NV9.

  • @Hyper_Light_Grifter

    That cover is reversible for the bigger motherboards

  • @adamhoang4976
    @adamhoang4976 7 месяцев назад +4

    Jay, the RGB bracket to the right of the motherboard should be reversible to allow for more clearance. At least this is the case with the NV7 I don't see why they wouldn't incorporate the same design here. Flip the cover 180 degrees vertically.

  • @user-tb6qs5kp7t
    @user-tb6qs5kp7t 6 месяцев назад +9

    The two issues, bottom fan mount and motherboard tray rgb trim. Both can be flipped. The bottom has two ways to mount,flat or angled, by flipping it around there are screw holes in both ends to accommodate. The motherboard trim piece can do the same. The orientation Jay tried it in is for an ATX, if it is flipped the part contacting the motherboard connectors is smaller for EATX boards, either way it has screw holes for either orientation and the rgb strip works in either orientation.

    The reason I think the back panel needs a screw driver to remove it is because the screw that hold it in place has to be flat and not a big knob like all the other toolless panel retainers, this also goes for the front glass panel.
    Also that cover at 18:05 can flip 180 which actually gives you a bigger gap to work with.

That trim piece that was hitting your 24pin on that board is actually reversible so it does clear it. Read the instructions my friend 😊 The back door actually does more than hide cables, it blocks a surprising amount of dust as well. Build should go - air Intake through the bottom, 240/280 flat pump/res combo from EK on the rear exhaust location, and rads on the top and vertical rear spots. Flow works great

    this rear panel is one of the reasons why I’ve ordered a NV7 instead of an Evo XL.
    On my normal Lian Li Evo, I had so often especially in summer a fly trapped in my case, flying against the rgb fans, because the holes are so big.
    Also my cases are always placed diagonally on my desk, so I always see those cables from multiple usb hubs (cam, mic, keyboard, mouse, controller, headset + 3 monitor setup displayports/usb connectors.
    Hope with the nv7 arriving tomorrow all those things won’t bother me anymore
    What I also like is that this is probably the best case for doing a white build, because of how hidden the mobo is, you won’t see those cables around the motherboard

    The side RGB is flippable to account for EATX boards, just like how the NV7 was

    I just finished my new high end build with a O11D Evo XL that I originally really wanted to use the NV7 on it.
    I had no idea Phanteks was releasing a NV9 or I would have likely gone with it!

    I have an all white high end build in the nv7 with the gigabyte aero oc 4090/ 7800x3d/ 64 gigs of ddr5. The pc looks good and is a beast. I will upgrade my white asiahorse cables to white lian li strimmer v2 cables and put a screen in the empty space above the motherboard.

    I am really looking forward to see Jay build in this case since I have have a NV7 and looking for inspiration for upcoming rework in the case. Also hearing Jays thoughts through his process is super interesting and helpful! Great video as always. :)

    Big fan of this series of cases. Easily the best looking of the current fishtank meta in my opinion. Also just prefer this form factor over the wider ones like the O11 and Y60

    it nice, I got the nv7 after watching Jay and others video on the nv7 case. the nv9 is a bigger version of the nv7, please note if you have a psu with a really thick power cable and connector you might not be able to close the door on the rear. I got seasonic prime 1600 Watts psu but I'm OK with taking the rear door off as I have my at an angle and the rear hides behind my monitor

    The right removable LED cover with Pogo Pin should have 2 mounting options to solve this problem. My NV7 case has this. Would think this case should as well.

    I can see the need for a college course on how to build your next computer/home operating system. You know, play games, do your taxes (A.I. of course) control your home environment (Tv, Kichcan, A/C, Robots). This build I believe could handle that. Nice work!

    those RGB pogo pin bars are reversible, at least the vertical one which allows more space in the x or z axis.

    This is one sexy looking case. bringing old and new together. A bit overengineered for simple AIO build with non-watercooled GPU but it's pretty nice.

    Beautiful case, just: The cable management slit at the back should not only be at the bottom of the case but also up. Whether my cables go downwards or upwards depends whether the case is on or under the table. If under table I would want my cables going up for better cable management below the table.

    I'd love to see this case with a distro block in the rear fan area. You could also do a custom mode and drill screw holes into the plate above the motherboard area to mount a distro plate or reservoir plate so it isn't just a big empty area.

    really like the nv7 and really want to utilize it in a build. I also think Phanteks has some of the best looking RGB fans.

    The reason why the bottom is tilted is so the air can go around the parts that are directly above it easier allowing more air flow volume around the entire case.

    I love the possibilities for this case and it is certainly one that I would consider for a future main system build. The issue that I have is that I like to recycle my old systems into a NAS server with 12 to 16 3.5" HDD. So when I upgrade my current system the guts will probably go into a Phanteks Enthoo Pro II which I can and have adapted to hold that many HDD and the guts of the new system into my current "Pretty" case. I remember when a full tower meant more HDD as a priority not larger motherboards or graphics cards. However, I will keep this in mind and thanks for showing both the positive and negative sides of this case.
