What a great show. Perfect band and the perfect panel. Loved BTO from the beginning and Roll On Down The Highway is such a great high energy song and always my favorite.
Finally a show that shines a light on the guitar genius of Randy Bachman. As a guitarist myself I’ve always championed the fact that Randy was the most underrated guitarist in rock history. The song Not Fragile was the first song I learned to play on the guitar. Not only my favorite BTO song but quite possibly my favorite heavy song of the 70’s by anyone. Great job guys and remember “You ask if we play heavy music we do Not Fragile straight at you” Cheers
Agreed. Randy is way cool. Fred's vocals stand out. LIVE in NYC a decade ago shows them well. And, these lyrics can be hilarious. RIMLATIMS: "I was born standing up with a guitar in my hand. Not trying to come on like Hollywood. But Hollywood is what I am." Followed by an absolutely cruncher of an electric guitar solo.
I play as well and have so much admiration for Randy. He is awesome!
@@GuitarHack66 Couldn’t agree more. Wish more people were aware of his talent.
@@murraywoods7909 Yes Sir!

Great episode. Not Fragile is one of the heaviest songs of the 70's.
Great Show Hack!!!- Martin, Pete and You always bring the Party - Roll on down the Highway....
Thanks for watching Robert. Cheers
Great talk ! For me, BTO was like a heavier CCR, a solid rock band that had more depth than they were given credit for.
That's interesting, Eric, I like that CCR comparison. Something old-timey about BTO.
Thanks martin for mentioning bob nalbandian definitely an unsung hero in metal journalism and documentaries. He was very well liked and respected by metal musicians and was responsible for getting Marty Friedman into Megadeth among other things.
Stayed awake all night / Don't get yourself in trouble / My wheels won't turn / Not Fragile / Giving it all away / Sledgehammer/ Let it Ride/ Four Wheel Drive / Take it like a Man / Another Fool
How Has BTO not been considered for the Hall of Fame ?
two songs i would have added would have been Take It Like A Man and Down To The Line
Cool! I asked for this a while ago on SOT. Thanks Hack, Martin and Pete!
You bet!
@@GuitarHack66 You all nailed it! I bet this episode was a lot of fun for all of you. One song not mentioned that I love is Lookin' Out for Number 1. Love the Jazz elements even though I usually lean towards the hard rocking songs. Thanks again for a very cool show.
@@jonathancilley9450 That song was in my top ten. Love it.
My only addition that wasn’t mentioned would be Hey You
Stone Gates my #1.
Hey party time! Still one of the best bands of the 1970s. Wanna hear Randy playing Rock Is My Life again in 2022 together with his son and daughter in law? Here you go, a great channel for jamming old favourites> ruclips.net/user/livehKp2ZsHn1e0?feature=share The song starts at 22:27. Enjoy!
Great stuff! I just discovered your channel and subbed you up! Thanks for sharing all the very interseting videos, Peace!
Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel. Cheers
Gosh, I was so worried that "Let it Ride" hadn't been mentioned, but then came the payoff.
Great show Hack! Love BTO! Hard to do a top 10. I don’t think they have a bad song in their first 5 albums. Freeways is pretty solid as well
I got in early I heard blue collar on CKXL I was 12 so no $ to buy the lp.when I was 14 I bought 1st 2nd and not fragile at this small store downtown never looked back.
Here's a heavy deep cut: Lowland Fling
Guys I will never forget seeing BTO Open up for Van Halen and everybody was on their feet dancing singing every song when BTO played, everybody was havin a blast! When Van Halen came out Sammy was the only one who wasn’t wasted and he sang spot on, he was terrific, but the other three guys should be ashamed that they charged money to get in to that place to see them. Eddie was totally wasted and sounded terrible. Sometimes you couldn’t even tell what song he was playing. Eddie, Alex, and Michael all did very unimpressive 15 minute solos that was downright annoying, that left enough time for them to play about eight songs and they left and everybody I talked to was glad they left. Needless to say that was my one and only time seeing Van Halen. Worst band performance I ever saw even though Sammy sounded great. Eddie kept smokin dope with the people on the front row and the more he smoked the worse he played. He never moved from one spot the whole show. He acted like the crowd wasn’t even there. Thank God for a great opening band like BTO! They had us all dancin and singin and sweatin. So much fun.
