Thank you for sharing your knowledge...you might try looking at your local drug store cosmetic counter for a blending brush...we who put blush on our face do like a brush thadh that Keeps it’d soft bristles.
I love your channel and have been watching it with my 8 year old daughter, she loves it too! If circumstances were different I would definitely be joining you in France for one of your courses. Thank you for your tips and tricks and for giving us a window into the creation of a fine painting.
I see brown in the sky, too., and such jaggedy shapes that I think 'If I painted it exactly as it is now, no one would believe that it is the real sky of that moment'. Lovely sky! Thank you.
At the time of watching I see 236 thumbs down. Those folk have to stay with their painting by numbers kits from the toy shop because they obviously know nothing about being an artist and love showing their ignorance. Stuart your one of the most talented and generous artists on this platform and your expertise comes through in your commentary. I and the rest of your subscribers are so grateful for your down to earth and instructive narration we can't help but improve, thank you.
Amazing tutorial! It was poetry in motion to watch you wielding those brushes. The painting is beautiful, and it was a joy to watch you bring it to life. Many thanks for sharing your profound talent and your time.
I said "Yeah!!" really loud when you suggested also using purple in your skys. When I was very young I discovered purple made a great color for skys when I colored in my coloring book. Every photo wasnt complete until I finished my background in (usually) a dark purple. To me it made my coloring book picture "more real looking" and bit spooky too sometimes😂
You refer to amateurs....I am not....yet when I watch you paint, I truly am an amateur.... Finding you, Mr. Davies on RUclips, has been such a great blessing and I am so grateful for your videos. My children have been told that going to France for one of your classes is now on my "to do" lists.
Your voice sounds very similar to Bill Nighy. As soon as you started futzing around with the sky at the end of the video, suddenly the yellow grassy area behind the trees, jumped right out of the picture. This is the first time I’ve come across any of your videos and you can be sure that I will continue looking out for your lessons. I was looking to get some distance perspective in my work and I got it. Thanks a lot. ❤️ Babs
Since I watched the video before how you changed the wonderful sky in this painting, now it was good to observe the development of the landscape. I also really enjoy listening to memories from the past. Many thanks to our wonderful teacher!
The result looks like a photo. The trees look like each leaf was painted. It really does look like twigs and grass were individually painted as well. I think I can even see each drop of moisture in the clouds. Excellent tutorial!
@@chrismerrick9578 His approach with the technical part of painting is different yeah - the feeling behind his painting though, gives me the amazing feeling Bob Ross gives me. Thank you for your thoughts, but Stuart loves my comment - that is all the validation I need sir! ;)
It’s my first video of Your work. What I can already say is that: I, FAN! Thank You, Stuart. Much love from Berlin / good old Germany! Not only for You Stuart, but for all of You folks! Hard times in june 2021 - ❤️
After following your tutorials i enjoying painting again. It's like when I was a child, no stress or expectations. It's fun seeing what the paint does Thank you Stuart!
Listening to you talk about adding brown to your sky, made me think of growing up in the Midwest near Lake Michigan. Lots of volatile looking skies there. I’ve seen skies like the ones you paint in various places in my country. Don’t know if you know this, but 🇺🇸 has the most volatile weather of anywhere in the world. We’re Number 1! lol. Learned that from my brother who’s a commercial airline capt on the West Coast. At least we’re number one in something besides Covid 🙄😏. This is my 2nd viewing of this video. I watch/listen to them multiple times as I find I learn something new, or something important youve imparted that I had forgotten. Love this one. Ty Professor.
Extraordinary. You are the man. You taught me about clouds to take them off the canvas. I paint with acrylics. I don’t where to start. You just “ah” me. I just watch you paint. Can you achieve this look with acrylics I guess that would be my first question. Thank you Mr. Davies, for sharing with us your gifted talent. I love the college story. If I tried that today no doubt I would be arrested or some idiot would steal my paints.lol.
I love watching your videos. Since I started watching I started to look at my own paintings in a different way and I changed my style over time quite a lot. Now I don't feel this "pressure" of perfection anymore. Thank you for everything! 😀
Make up brushes are very good blending brushes, they are cheaper and they do not shed, they also work AMAZING!!! And this painting is incredibly beautiful. Your work just makes my soul smile.
Thanks for the tip on makeup brushes. I was just wondering what to do with all the big makeup brushes I have and never use. Cleaned up and organized my bathroom yesterday. So glad I kept those!
Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us all! I am learning so very much ! The tiniest things you probably think pass right over are the things I pick up on the most!! Please don't quit telling the stories!! Be well Stuart!
This was my first Stuart Davies instructional painting, where I painted along with you. I was quite pleased with the outcome. BEAUTIFUL sky. Now that it's dry, I see things I want to change. I wish there was a way to share it with you. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom.
I can smell the paint! I love your style of teaching, repetition is good. The landscape in this painting is uncannily similar to the views from my front garden, including the big sky which changes mood at the drop of a hat! Thank you for inspiring me to take up my paintbrush once again.
I echo other comments. Listening to you impart your knowledge and experience of drawing, painting techniques and invaluable information on colour, favourite supllies and overall expertise is an absolute joy and privilege. I have only just found you, woe is me but better late than never. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your brilliance. ❤❤❤xxx
Yes! 56 min. of bliss! As I look out my window this evening wouldn't you know it, there are some wispy clouds that are tinged with burnt umber -- fantastic!

So very refreshing to finally see someone breaking the "rules." I really needed this. I rarely subscribe but this is a welcome exception. This is the first video of yours I've seen, but I think you are my new favorite instructor!! Thank you so much.
It will never cease to amaze me how you can so effortlessly compose such beautiful paintings. To me you are on par with money and the other great impressionists (however different your style may be) and the emotions in your paintings, especially the skies, are powerful
I landed on your site tonight. Only picked up a paintbrush a year ago. I'm 59 years old and was never allowed to take art in school. I started doing easy acrylic paintings or acrylic pours. Canada is shut down due to Covid virus and I'm low on supplies. I've watched 3 of your videos tonight and will watch a few more before I fall asleep. Tomorrow will go buy some oil paints and try to paint along with you. (If the stores are open!) These are the type of painting and scenery I would love to be able to do. Thank you for sharing your expertise and story tellings, makes for a very intersting video. I also like hearing your calm voice and mo music. Helps me focus better. New sub!!
Hello, Stuart. I am a new viewer and a new painter. Never done it before. I have produced some paintings using what I've learned from you, and I'm really happy with the results. I never NEVER let my clouds end in the middle of the painting. I'm learning the difference between light and dark. But my most fun lesson is that I new have the courage of my convictions with paint. I can use color from a tube and feel confident that I can work with anything I'd like. My first EVER painting I feel is a lovely success. Not brilliant, not perfect, but that's the way I like it. Thanks for your help. Eileen
Thank you Stuart for your detailed painting processes. I have never ever painted anything before other than a house. I am 69 and in the new year will be trying my hand at being an artist in training. I intend to follow your guidelines. If I may, I would like to show you my initial painting attempts. Regards, Stan

Hello and thank you for the video After a long break I´ll go back to the canvas and make some paintings, thanks to you Mr Davies. ❤️ Funny how a suggestion can change one’s perception. I love your style, your narration, and your wisdom. I was not so enamored of these trees until you said they might be hawthorn... silly ol’ me. ❤️
Whenever I'm feeling a little bummed, like recently when I was working on a video and my camera arbitrarily decided to stop functioning, I like to put on one of your videos and just listen to you talk. It always makes me want to whip out my sketchpads and throw out whatever comes to mind onto paper, it inspires me and I also learn a little something about oil painting (which is a medium I'm really getting into more and more lately). Thanks for the uplifting and keep up the astounding work!
I very much enjoyed watching this and the advice that you have shared! As a fairly new painter, I feel so fortunate to have access to this amazing information! I have wanted to paint my entire life, but as an introvert, would never take a class. I hope someday to be able to paint like this!!! Amazing!!! Thank you!!

Thank you for the entertainment, Stuart! I think you are the only artist I do not fast forward....I do not want to miss any of your observations....
Merci encore pour vos peintures qui m'apporte beaucoup !

What an absolute pleasure to listen to you talk
I could watch and listen to you all day. You are very calming. I also love the way you paint, nothing precise. It is about interpretation. Just let it flow out of you. I have no art in my background, however I started painting in 1908. I have a wonderful friend that introduced me to expressing myself on canvas. I have used many different things to paint on shingles from 1700. Rocks, you name it. I am getting ready to do a huge painting on a sliding closet door. We took them out, so I feel they would be something to paint and lean against a wall. Enough about me. You are magnificent.
The tree line is absolutely gorgeous hmmmm woow. Love the colors
Lovd stormy skies too...Dianne Cape Town South Africa
I just love this painting and I also love the sky. I hope one day I can make my sky's with all the feeling I have when I am looking at the beautiful skyline.
You have created what I refer to as the Ancient Tav composition: the "A" at the bottom points to the middle gap in the trees, allowing an upward flight into the infinite stormy sky. This is a master composition I use often, seen everywhere, from the Hour Glass to the Cross. I am currently working on publishing my original studies of the Master Composition.
Finally one with a british accent! Love your talking while painting!
Thank you for a delightful video. Very much appreciated
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. . I love the dynamic skies in many of your videos. Learning a lot of great tips and like your freedom of expression.
I share your fascination with stormy skies, I find the colours and depth beautiful. I have never painted in oil and would love to try; this has given me the inspiration to have a go. Thank you.
I'm not sure what I like the most: the painting or your stories and advice :)

If you come to south africa, you will see the amazing colours of our sunsets. Especially in the cape. It is like living inside a painting 😊
Thank you for sharing your techniques and providing informative content on painting. I've picked up so much useful information about painting and enjoy watching your paintings come to life.
La semplicità del gesto che parte dalla mente! Bravo
The illusion of depth is so strong my eye can not escape the center in any direction for more than a few seconds! Nor do I want to! Bravo Stuart...a masterful lesson, thank you!
You have a great speaking cadence for these videos. Many people who do tutorials are difficult to listen to. Nice work.
Glad you think so!
You are amazing! So wasn’t listen and learn with your interesting stories!much appreciation and love!
Very enjoyable to watch. Great descriptions of what's going on.
I like the highlight on the trees, very good!
He paints and is very good looking as well the whole package. Xx

Kentucky is called the bluegrass state. Love the change, Maybe one day we will paint togather.

You made my new painting life much easier. Thanks for sharing your talent and ideas .
I very much enjoyed watching this and the advice that you have shared! As a fairly new painter, I feel so fortunate to have access to this amazing information! I have wanted to paint my entire life, but as an introvert, would never take a class. I hope someday to be able to paint like this!!! Amazing!!! Thank you!!
