Please don't apologize for 'getting in the way of the camera.' We are all aware that you are working and in periods of excitement or passion you need to do what you need to do! You're always careful to back away and explain properly, and for that I thank you! You've taught me soooooo much! I'm looking forward to see what you do with foliage and flowers.
I have fallen in love with your calming voice I put your RUclips paintings at night watch and hear your voice on how to paint till I fall asleep.... I've ordered some supplies just so I can try your Technics... Thanks so much for sharing..
You are an absolute joy to watch, and it is made better knowing that you seem to read almost every comment written on your videos. Really goes to show you are listening to your community.
Watching you complete that first painting - so peaceful. I don't know, reassuring somehow. 2nd painting: when you 'finished the sky, I thought - 'a stormy sea' (ie., water)!! And then the landscape: suggestive rather than detailed. Thank you sooooooo much for the teaching, advice. The feathering of the clouds - fanciful, ethereal. The 'speed-up' section - yes. The fields needed the focus. So wonderful. The water - yes. And now the fields and the sky are rich. Thank you, Stuart.
Beautiful poetry, as always! Thank you for your time. Thank you for your expertise. Thank you for your generosity in sharing both with us! Until next time....
"Real anguish" describes it beautifully. It's the giving a sense of depth and perspective to skies that causes me real anguish, and I am grateful for the encouragement I get from your videos. Thank you for your time and good vibrations!
"Painting is like poetry, painting is not that difficult, ,don"t be afraid of when a mess is created while painting, pause for few seconds to observe the shape the strokes are creating and build on them ..........................." and so on and on. You sound so highly convincing that even at the age of 67 years, I have engaged myself into painting , though with poster colour to start with and have posted some of my amateurish attempts on FB which my frinds have liked and encoraged me.But your lessons have and style of communication has removed the fear inside me and I feel friendly with colours and brush strokes, though with a very little knowledge about subject of painting/brushes/paints. You have made it very very easy for me at least for passing my time happily and creatively and have burnt a desire of ceating something worthwhile by trying and trying .......
Long videos are not a problem for me, Stuart. In fact I appreciate the amount of information and attention to detail. Watched the whole thing over the course of a couple days, here and there when I had time. One of the best videos yet.
Watching this painting and enjoy your talk. What I find difficult to paint is water in a lake with rocks along the shore. Thank you for posting this painting you are working on at the present time.
You never stop surprising me. At first I was shocked when you started painting over the "tree wall" on the left because I actually liked the painting the way it was. Then, as your work progressed, it seemed to me as if a window had been opened wide and fresh air was pouring in. My eyes wandered to the horizon and my heart started to fly across the meadows. Your decision was absolutely right, it made a good picture even better. Thank you for your lessons, I'm learning so much!
Dear sir, watching what you did in this session gave me great confidence, because I found out that you are the God of your work and can do whatever pleases you. One can wipe and redo the mistakes. I enjoyed watching you teach. Thanks a lot.
I’m new to your channel, Mr. Davies. In watching this particular video, I’m coming away with a sense of confidence in my approach to my painting. It did me a world of good to observe you calmly wiping away and painting over a portion of the painting because you were dissatisfied with your original choice of composition. I needed to see that and to listen to you explain why you made the change. It made absolute sense to me. Thank you.
Just discovered ur changel by accindent. And, have been watching video after video of many of ur paintings. Boy oh boy have i been enjoyinģ myself, and enough so that ive been rethinking of taking my oil materials down from the attic. The fever is here........
When I came across this video, I asked myself "What are you doing"? I love your foreground and your trees. I thought the bright blue against your earthy greens would compete too much, but after you added the clouds, it worked.
Rock and cliffs give me the most trouble. They never seem to look like...rocks and cliffs...they just look like flat "objects". Love your videos, so much to learn from your tutorials. Best wishes..David in the UK.
Mr. Davies thank you so much for filming your art and talking to us with instruction. I am a beginner artist that has fooled around thru the years in beginner style. But youtube with all these 1st class classes has really stepped up my game! Plus learning tricks with brushes, placement, perspective. SO MUCH FUN! This painting has my heart. I do not know what this kind of art is called, but it is my favorite. I inherited a bunch of framed prints from my grandparents, probably from the 20's or 30's and they all have these colors and style of painting. Just beautiful! Because of your use of large canvas/plywood, I have gessoed over a yard sale print I have, from the sears and roebuck days and I am ready! It's about 24x48. So excited! Thank you so much Stuart Davies! Love Chrissy from Vermont
Thank you again for another lesson on freedom painting! Not only that I feel relaxed watching and listening to you but I also feel better than I was before as a painter, perhaps more empowered and confident. Thank you!
thank u so much u wished up our fear of painting away u make painting so easy and trust our self more so u can stay in the way as loon as u want just keep talking telling us what to do and how to do it thank u from Syria again with all pain here u bring some joy to my soul
I love your skies. I live in western Australia and our skies are mostly intense blue. Our regular grass can seem to glow. But I'm thinking about how I can capture our skies. I absolutely don't mind you in the frame because I'm really interested in every stroke. I'm just a beginner. I appreciate your comments and your generous time showing you paint. Just wanted to say a big thank you.
It´s so incredible what you are doing, Stuart. I’d like to answer your question about what I find the hardest in painting. I’m pretty good at using my fantasy, so I often make a lot of mess in the first step. Here’s my headache 🤕, how to clean up the mess, how to turn things from chaos into some kind of order? I may miss a clear method to control my ideas? I have tried sometimes to start with more control in the work, but it tends to get stiff and “dead” in the end. - here comes my further comments on what you did in part one of your video: you wiped off some beautiful trees and made a landscape in theirs place just as beautiful. Hereby, You answered my question number two, can one do that? and yes, with success. I’m glad I don’t have to begin with a completely new canvas 🙂 In fact, most of my paintings throughout the years have been over painted several times. I’m not a professional painter (I’m a danish professional actress and play writer, director), but highly talented one. I wish to save money for one of your lessons. I’m your age and don’t travel without a purpose any longer, furthermore I don’t use FB 😀 Susanne CPH
I am so pleased to have found you! I ventured into painting in 2006, though I haven't created many pieces due to hardship. In 2006 I painted a few pieces in acrylic and had to stop. Later in 2016, I braved into painting with oil, and to my amusement, I loved it. I share your passion for painting the skies, and I also never took a class. Also, much like you, I like the pleasure of painting from my imagination. Anything else becomes work, but I refuse to let that be the case. Last, thanks for the pointers. I appreciate your quick lesson on perspective. You are a delight to watch. Thank you, thank you, thank you
To answer your question you posed of viewers, SKY is the element I find most difficult to paint. Coming from a generally flat landscape, our skies are the outstanding feature here. So glad to have discovered you on you tube - totally agree with what you said about not using time lapse, sometimes it is beautiful to watch - like a ballet - but if you are trying to learn it's quite intimidating and as you said, a bit like showing off! Really enjoying your videos and learning lots, thank you - Lisa
I can’t believe that over the last two years I missed this one. Absolutely love it! Watched it from beginning to end. Fascinated by the salad. I must try to do this. Stuart, the sky is amazing!😊
You know Stuart I woke up around 4am and couldn’t sleep most of the night. Come across your channel by accident and your calming voice cradle me to sleep, I subscribe and hooked on your channel ever since. Still watching you🤣🤣😂
Boring? Perish the thought, Stuart! There is nothing remotely boring about watching you work your magic. Your landscapes are so evocative and peaceful to glimpse. Is all of the land in this painting “wild” and natural, or are there farm fields and vineyards off in the distance? I particularly like the way hedgerows crisscross the landscape. So distinctly French!
Amazing technique! Letting random brush strokes reveal the detail instead painstaking intentional efforts to control thingd. Excellent lesson to just relax and allow things to unfold
Payne's Grey and Prussian Blue are my go-to colors, to create shadows and "blacks"...thank you so much for sharing your tutorials, I am learning how to "loosen up"😊
Very good lecture about nerves showing up in brush strokes. I think so many of us go into painting with so many years of corrections in mind that it ends up being like a golf swing by a duffer, and for the same reason. I'm still working on not caring what anyone else thinks.
Like the style. I have recently been exposed to tonalism and have two attempts and I'm pleasantly surprised. You have been a great help. Thank You Ken I'm 77, I feel in love with oils and I prefer large canvases I also make my own frames. Stay safe in these interesting time, hope they will become boring times shortly.

Your videos and explains are very great.... You are a real inspiration to me.... I have to dare start it a large canvas... Thanks you so much again for your videos @stuartDavies !!! my Best regards
I’m happy you said that there are no rules on how you paint. Once, when I first began painting, I had a teacher tell me to only paint three birds because four doesn’t look good. I begged to differ because I painted four birds and it looked great. Maybe it was the placement of my four birds that looked as great as her three birds. Also, I could not paint clouds with the fan brush. My teacher became frustrated with me. However, when I used a different brush, my clouds finally became clouds. Today, I am able to paint clouds with whatever brush I choose. I appreciate your teaching. Thank you.
Being in the way ..... well as long as you get out of the way too! I enjoy your videos in any case. Your narration is very pleasant to listen to as well.
Always impressed by how you manage to see in the freedom of your brush strokes and how the pain lands on the canvas ... rolling landscapes , mountains and canopy of sky wow wow !! ... What I find difficult is mountains and and running water within the context of distant landscapes .
So beautiful! And I loved it before you started. AND it did get even better. So dramtic and transcendent. AMAZED. What a gift to this housebound person who just loves to watch people do their thing. Genius on parade. Thank you so much. I would love to be your student. I am your student. We are renovating our house, but in a few months or so I will have my own studio workshop again and I will start painting again. You have so inspired me. Much love and appreciation.
Most problems for me is when I don’t stop, and don’t trust my intuition . Overworking. Watching you is really helping. Yesterday I did a small painting right along with you.....SO HELPFUL
Exactly as you say - I was struggling to get a certain effect in clouds and eventually decided to wipe the paint of and retry but lo and behold, as I started the very wiping effected the result I was looking for. I find your commentating as useful as the demonstration itself. Bravo sir; you inspire!
Took me 3 attempts to watch this. My family is slowly learning that when they hear your voice they need to leave me alone😏 Brilliant, as always. To answer your question about a group venue: Interest, YES! Funds, not so much. I have no doubt you’ll have no problem filling up with need for a waiting list!❤️
I love how you go back at the end and smooth out the broader brush strokes in the landscape. It was lovely before then but that I feel stylistically ties it in so well with your skies.
I am in tears watching your video. I jumped all in my livingroom and was yellling yes at the tv. Everything you did, wiping everything out , redoing , randomness!!!! I have been painting all my life and never had any lessons. I watch a lot of videos! Rules rules rules. I hate painting dark to light and and shapes. It’s not me! I’m a very random and all over the place! I cried watching you!!! Your brush kills me!!!😂 I am from Georgia in the United States! I plan on watching everything you have done!!!! I absolutely love your techniques!!!
I just wanted to say how deeply I appreciate your videos. Big fan of you, your art, and the way you teach. It's helping me cope. Thank you so much for making the world a brighter place for some of us out here. God bless you.
Please don't apologize for 'getting in the way of the camera.' We are all aware that you are working and in periods of excitement or passion you need to do what you need to do! I am in agreement with Susan. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Holy cow!
I have fallen in love with your calming voice I put your RUclips paintings at night watch and hear your voice on how to paint till I fall asleep.... I've ordered some supplies just so I can try your Technics... Thanks so much for sharing..
I'm never bothered by your being in the way. Your videos are always a joy to watch.
I agree...I would watch regardless : )
To me it kind of brings a bit more depth to the process
You are an absolute joy to watch, and it is made better knowing that you seem to read almost every comment written on your videos. Really goes to show you are listening to your community.
I do!
The sky is amazing. A little blue is all it takes! The drama is in the clouds, so the more the better. Up to a point.
And now the fields and the sky are rich. Thank you, Stuart.
I can see why you are changing things constantly just for demonstration purposes, that requires mastery of the craft, very nice way to teach. Amazing!
Beautiful poetry, as always! Thank you for your time. Thank you for your expertise. Thank you for your generosity in sharing both with us! Until next time....
Thank you so much!

Thanks you so much for being here during this time. I love your work. All of them.
You are welcome!
I hope some day I would love to travel to have lesson with you.
I love the Chinese orangey red......surprising how easy and natural it looks. Beautiful. Again, love the land portions.
Very much impressed and I find it extremely useful. Painting sky is the most exciting thing for me.
In my opinion, you are NEVER in the "way" long enough to even mention it. Thank you for everything you teach!!
Thank you Stuart your freedom and artistry are inspiring
Long videos are not a problem for me, Stuart. In fact I appreciate the amount of information and attention to detail. Watched the whole thing over the course of a couple days, here and there when I had time. One of the best videos yet.

one does a painting and does not think of any thing except the painting. Your talent is great. Just continue on and do what you want to do.
Once again, stuart, a masterpiece. I still love your work.
Thank you! Cheers!

This one is amazing - the transformation and the subsequent depth Gainsborough and Constable must have painting like this.
Just discovered ur changel by accindent. And, have been watching video after video of many of ur paintings. Boy oh boy have i been enjoyinģ myself, and enough so that ive been rethinking of taking my oil materials down from the attic. The fever is here........
Just painted along with you and very pleased. Your speed of operation is both challenging and liberating.
When I came across this video, I asked myself "What are you doing"? I love your foreground and your trees. I thought the bright blue against your earthy greens would compete too much, but after you added the clouds, it worked.
The degree of distance you've got in painting 2 is amazing. Bravo Sir!
Another absolutely gorgeous sky. I am so envious!!
Stuart never boring. not a problem getting in the way. I could watch for hours on end. I have learned so much great skill thank you
I so enjoy watching you paint. Its just magical

The sky is so realistic, I love it! I could stare at this painting all day! Thank you,, Mr. Davies!
What an amazing sky and clouds! Thank you again for sharing your excellent talent!!!
Wow!
Gracias Maestro, Saludos desde un gran escenario de la naturaleza para la pintura: Valdivia, Chile
Hi Stewart, From Galway, Love the way you paint, I am addicted to dramatic skies .Can't manage buildings in the distance,( houses, cabins, etc) never happy with my reflections on water. just finished sun going down on Galway Bay .The diving board just drove me crazy!!!!!!Please find the time to have a look at same????? Co Clare to the left.I have a wonderful idea, Come to Galway & do a painting course???????You would actually love Galway???????
Going back and watching some of your older videos. Is this where you began to focus on painting more dramatic skies. Anticipating your next video!!!
Thank you for the very informative lesson. Beautiful paintings. So enjoy watching you paint.
I could watch you paint all day long. I’m learning so much. Thank you!!!
Landscapes are fabulous
Bonjour monsieur,
J'ai visionné quiet a few of your videos.
Merci Mr Davies. :)
Merci Caleche!
The way you made the fields, hills and sky roll had me in childlike awe Stuart😯 ...and such a limited pallet..
Are you sure your not a Magician? 🤔😂😁
Thank you for sharing your magic ✨😊
Greatly appreciate your help. My painting has leapt forward since watching you.
I watch ur instructional paintings over and over and I think I make more mud than distinctive shadows and highlights...as I watch u I try to anticipate ur moves and over-all effect and I’m pleasantly surprised with ur end -result. I can’t believe that over the last two years I missed this one. Absolutely love it! Watched it from beginning to end. Fascinated by the salad. I must try to do this. Stuart, the sky is amazing!😊
Absolutely beautiful paintings. I love the simplicity and colours of the second one. Thank you…
Both are very beautiful. Second one is magnetic
Great! Watch it all the way, with pleasure and since I am into painting I got some learning too. Thanks.
I hope to do this with acrylic as that is what I have. Love what you are creating.. so calm and freeform
I loved it.... Been watching your videos for now 4 hours... And I don't get bored.... Thanks
Great key word "twinkling" I will keep that in mind as I work!
You know Stuart I woke up around 4am and couldn’t sleep most of the night. Come across your channel by accident and your calming voice cradle me to sleep, I subscribe and hooked on your channel ever since. Still watching you🤣🤣😂

Gorgeous, just gorgeous!

You don't need to get out of the way at all. Very enjoyable to watch.
I always watch every word and frame of video..
Although the video is long but I was enjoy watching it and many times, each time I learned a new technique, thank you.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for subscribing!

This approach to painting inspires me to paint larger and to loosen up. Thank you
Because of your inspiration, my skies are now more natural and dramatic

To answer your question about a group venue: Interest, YES! Funds, not so much. I have no doubt you’ll have no problem filling up with need for a waiting list!❤️
"chuck the paint on"...I loveit! What freedom !
yes, don't worry about being in front of the painting as it develops, I need to listen and learn from your work...
Thank you Stuart. Nice work and informative!
I love how you go back at the end and smooth out the broader brush strokes in the landscape. It was lovely before then but that I feel stylistically ties it in so well with your skies.
Two great paintings! Inspiring ... and so many interesting techniques to practice and master.
Recently discovered your channel and I just wanted to say how fantastic your tip, hints, and tutorials are. Thank you
Glad you like them!
Fabulous, just add and guy in a red jacket and you have an improved Constable.
Cheers, keep em coming
Stuart
I am in tears watching your video. I jumped all in my livingroom and was yellling yes at the tv. Everything you did, wiping everything out , redoing , randomness!!!!
I have been painting all my life and never had any lessons. I watch a lot of videos! Rules rules rules. I hate painting dark to light and and shapes. It’s not me! I’m a very random and all over the place! I cried watching you!!! Your brush kills me!!!😂 I am from Georgia in the United States! I plan on watching everything you have done!!!! I absolutely love your techniques!!!
Thank You! I love your paint!
