What I love about this song is it’s not a typical Rejection song where they say “screw you I’m better than you I’m out of here”. And there’s no hate in his tone. The way he saying “oh well… Oh well” has this tone That says that he excepts this isn’t going to happen but he’s not saying goodbye, there’s something that will always be there but it will never turned into what he wants. That’s a phenomenal story to tell
Lead singer Maynard, of Tool, hooked up with Adam Jones’ guitar tech, Billy Howerdel and a couple others from well known projects to form APC. I bought their first album Mer de Noms on cassette back in '00. I still bump that album to this day (no longer on cassette tho lol). Total masterpiece, and a way different musical turn for Maynard from Tool (a very welcome one at that). Mer de Noms is their first, and imo, best album. It features this single, and their hit single "Judith". Highly recommend their catalog. The lineup has changed a little bit over the years, but Maynard and Billy are mainstays.
@James C I remember hearing he wanted a female singer, but later found out he specifically wanted Liz Fraser. Had she been available to do it and Maynard was also knocking at the door... man that's a hard choice. Luckily she was busy with Massive Attack stuff and that choice didn't need to be made. But I often wonder what she might of done with Billy's music.
@@neilpatrickhairless Great picks! De-Loused in The Comatorium is still one of my favorite albums, as well as Mer De Noms. Amazing stuff/bands. Liz Fraser would be very interesting to hear on some of their tracks for sure. I know they (Billy) wanted to get a female singer at first, so who knows--mighta just happened if not for MJK.
The beauty of Maynards lyrics is that its specific enough to make you feel something undeniable but vague enough that it can have a slightly different meaning to anyone
its about being overlooked, unrequited love, admiration without reciprocation, and just the sad realisation that sometimes people are just broken people and arent capable of seeing it or you, or alternatively, they see you - but not in that way. i think just about everyone has been there - probably on both sides of the equation - it definitely always stirs up some emotions within me.
Yep, been happily with the sane great woman for more than 15 years now but when I hear this song I can mentally be transferred right back to my young self dealing with unrequited love.
Never heard this song but it’s 🔥and 👁’d recognize his voice anytime/where! Amazing reaction & appreciated no skin or appendages came off, (lol)! ♥️ Yawl
Great breakdown of the music itself and the explanation of what the lyrics seem to be expressing. This is one of my all time favorite songs ever. Greatness both of you 👏👏😎
He's singing about his Mother Maria, she was disabled for the last years of her life. She also had dementia. A lot of Maynard's Lyrics are about his Mother
Everything turns to gold period that first album Mer de Noms, is great. I think you guys already did Judith. But there's a track on there called Magdalena that's fantastic. Also can I just say I think you really need to do queen Elton John and Axl Rose Freddie Mercury benefit doing Bohemian Rhapsody. The crowd is insane and the performance is out of this world. This is my suggestion to you! Much love fam!!stay up!!
The singer of this song, Maynard James Keenan said this about it ... “Up until the mid twentieth century the mountain gorilla was considered a myth. Oddly enough, a legend not unlike Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. The chance of actually seeing/experiencing this elusive shadow was as likely as finding one’s soulmate. Rare. Precious. Even once discovered they seemed unapproachable. The only way to get close to this magnificent creature was to become empathetic. Abandon all pretense and preconceptions. To bare an open throat. To collapse into the arms of vulnerability. All but extinct, these beings/moments are threatened by the black-hearted. The cold and oblivious. The empty-eyed profit seekers that overlook these precious creatures."
Maynard James Keenan at his best. He’s a front man of many talents. His songs with Perfect Circle are deep. Check out his other band Puscifier and see the comedic side of Maynard a lot of their songs are funny.
You guys already did "Judith" from APC and you had high praise for it so i'm not sure how you don't remember APC. Great song though. MJK one of the greats
To be fair, they do many many many other artists and bands they're just getting introduced to. And they don't do the same artists/bands back to back most of the time so it's understandable on their part. Their appreciation and open mindedness is amazingly appreciated though, as are their reactions they share with us.
I read an article with MJK when this album came out & he described APC as a band that sorta represents his feminine side & Tool is the masculine side…..I saw APC on there 1st tour,it was on the campus of GWU in DC & it was called Bender Arena but it was a gym I mean there were bleachers ….great show btw 🖤🥶
I love this song. In my opinion he's feeling alone and trying to get something out of someone, not even romantically. Like you're surrounded by superficiality and just need something real. I'm thinking "threw you the obvious" could be something as small as casual conversation sort of testing the waters for any sort of depth. But he's sad and disappointed that the everyone else has already lost their wonder and has been molded to fall in line with standard thoughts and responses.
Exactly... even in the video, he is surrounded by the Three Libras, screwing around in bed and he gets up and walks out leaving them to each other. They don't even seem to notice. Oh well
I think is another one about his mother, Judith Marie, possibly. The last 27 yrs of her life she was immobile from a stroke by aneurysm. It happened when Maynard was 11yrs old. Devastating stuff.
In my OPINION: I believe he is (on this song and "Magdalena) he is singing about a stripper.. he threw her the obvious (dollar bills?) While she stands naked and oblivious.. the song Magdalena ties in to this as well... A Perfect Circle is AWESOME!!
Judith is definitely about his mother, as well as a few Tool songs (like Wings for Marie) But he once stated while performing 3 Libras that "at least 2 maybe 3 of those Libras were there at the concert (6/4/2000 Phoenix, AZ) and if it sounded bitter he said it is and he was. This is great to check out Live.
Maynard James Keenan (lead singer) is the master mind of Tool, A Perfect Circle and the band Puscifer. He is an absolute musical and lyrical genius. Danny Carry is considered one of the best drummers ever. Please, dig into Tool and A Perfect Circle...their music is mind bending and mind altering! This is not a normal sound for these guys, a little soft. This Band and Tool are the most polished and precise sounding bands ever!
I like your guys' intro a lot ❤️😎🔥👍 "Look Who's Talking Vibes" in the best way - A Perfect Circle features vocals by Maynard James Keenan, who is also lead singer for the rock band, Tool // it was a side project, and this is a track off their first album... Music by Billy Howerdel, and he definitely deserves as much attention as Maynard, here ❤️ A Perfect Circle is really his baby. // Ya gotta listen to Tool 🔥
Each song on this album is about a different person. I’m sure many comments have talked about Maynards lyrics being deep. If you check out Tool, they do something very special. There are many songs with moments that put more emphasis on the music, even when he is singing. It comes out as perfection and Tool is truly a once in a lifetime talent.
Good reaction i notice stp stone temple pilots are recognized. They were at the same time as nirvana and soundgarden. Wicked garden and creep are good.
PLEASE DO: "DANCE WITH THE DEVIL" by IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE... ⚠️WARNING: THIS SONG (NOT VIDEO HOWEVER) IS FOR ADULTS ONLY!⚠️ I PROMISE YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY BY YOUR OWN EMOTIONAL REACTIONS!! THIS IS MY 1ST REQUEST.❤ LOVE YOU GUYS, ❤~Tinkerbell🧚🏼♀️
The song is about several people he knows who are all Libras and all very self-centered. The song is called 3 Libras because there are 9 of them and he wanted them to struggle with wondering whether or not he was referring to them. There’s a commentary version of the music video where he talks about it.
Dude saying how he thinks James is singing off beat just shows how he is completely musically uneducated. But I love it when people can't deny greatness!!!!!!
Great Selection! Great Review as usual!!! Thanks for sharing! I feel like all of MJK's projects create excellent music! Ill always tune in for A Perfect Circle, TOOL and Puscifer with your good and honest reviews! Thanks Again
Basically it is about a guy in love with a woman so he goes for it, she let's him get it but doesn't care about him, he's just another among a million, he wanted to be the one she wanted but she doesn't care.
🥲🙂 The Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate (live) Tool - Wings for Marie pt.1 & pt.2 Aurora - Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 (live at the Nobel peace prize concert) Band of Horses - No one’s gonna love you Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger Chris Cornel - Nothing Compares to you Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren
Its STRAIT UP untouchable!!! 💯‼ And I HONESTLY think it SHOULD be the song and band that Maynard SHOULD be remembered for! Because, as much as I love "Tool"... This is BETTER!!! 💯 This is a SONG... not a math problem.
This song to me is about being with someone who is a narcissist and you give them an obvious emotional situation expecting a common reaction and they don't look at your inward being. And it's obviously about the libras he has been with
Subbed. This song was one of the handful of songs that got me through a lot of suicidal thoughts. I know that's not easy to talk about but you guys have brought me a lot of joy. I see you
In my eyes this is about the vapidity of celebrity culture. He's talking about (in my interpretation) the fact that a lot of b and c list celebrities are just dead inside.
...agreed, Maynard is awesome and even more awesome Live, especially this version of 3 Libras because he really belts it out and puts so much emotion into it.
Greatest APC song ever. Gives me chills every time I hear it. Just like the very first time in HS in 2000. Just a beautifully put together song.
This whole albums a damn masterpiece
most of it

funny i can relate to this song 100% right now, it absolutely sucks
Sad acceptance. Or just broken. Who will ever know. Maynard is an enigma
Well said ryan
Lead singer Maynard, of Tool, hooked up with Adam Jones’ guitar tech, Billy Howerdel and a couple others from well known projects to form APC. Liz Fraser on an APC album would have been fucking nuts. A Perfect Circle was the best band of that era, followed after by The Mars Volta
@@neilpatrickhairless Great picks! De-Loused in The Comatorium is still one of my favorite albums, as well as Mer De Noms. Amazing stuff/bands.

My favourite artist of all time, Maynard James Keenan! Tool, aperfect circle, pussifer! Hands down the best.👍

beautiful song. 🥰
Love it ya’ll!! You both read it like a book. This was my jam 2000-2001.❤❤❤❤❤
If Maynard James Keenan is involved it gets a green light. Try 'Passenger' by Deftones with him featuring.

awesome reaction ... its one of my fave songs from this album ...
Waiting to see yall react to this. The Jay Leno live is killer. Weak and powerless is also great! Jay Leno live!
Green Jeans speaks the truth!
Ya’ll be thinking “on Jay Leno?” lol but yes! Great great live performances of Weak and Powerless and the Outsider.
It’s the singer from Tool .. great song
Asia did notice it on their Judith Video within seconds.
one of my favorite APC songs. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
He's singing about his Mother Maria, she was disabled for the last years of her life. She also had dementia. A lot of Maynard's Lyrics are about his Mother
No, this song is not about that. You are thinking of "Judith".
This will always be my 2nd favourite APC song
Lemme guess- your (and mine) favorite song begins with “J”….

PAZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lenchantin
We Stan Paz Lenchantin
Supposedly the song was written with 3 people in mind, one of them betrayed him, he knows who. They all 3 are Libras.
For me, this has always been the Earth, personified, singing to Humanity.
Great song, great reaction. Enjoyed it guys
i always thought this song was about a blind person that he didn't realize was blind at first. kinda a la "hello" by lionel ritchie
Definitely need to hear (Orestes)

Love this song!
Awesome music here crew ..Maynard with another vibe just listen❤️
