This dude's reactions are the reactions we secretly want when we try showing a friend a song but all they are doing is talking through the whole thing.
Absolutely 💯 you hit it right on the head i hate when I feel a song and try to get them to and they just don't listen or don't care it makes me so mad
Yep
Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed, passed over.
Yes girl!!! I hate it. I'll turn the radio up and be like look this next verse is the best... Then finally I'm just like nevermind, you're missing it!
Or head down in their phone the entire time.
They. Are. Not. Worthy.
What I would do to listen to 3 Libras for the first time all over again.
same
Right?
I love 3 Libras 💙💙
If only.
Though if you haven't heard something for Kate deja vu, I'd give it a crack
Edit, try Gomez spin the world around.
Do you remember your first time? I cried. Decades later it still has the break my heart in the best way.
Mer de Noms is one of the most perfect albums ever recorded. Front to back the whole thing is killer.
I think Thirteenth Step is a better record. Mer de Noms has some tracks that either do nothing for me or I outright dislike. Everything on Thirteenth Step leaves me torn open.
@@L33PL4Y I rarely listen to anything from Thirteenth Step outside of Vanishing and Gravity. Its a great album, but for whatever reason it doesn't hit me like Mer de Noms. I don't think theres a wrong choice between the two though.
@@elburden Of course. We're just talking opinions here
The first two APC albums are legendary .
@@frankgoggin1496 They're all pretty amazing in their own ways
As a musicophile that isn't a musician, I want to thank you for helping me understand why I like what I like.
Same here….music is my life in so many ways, but I cannot really play an instrument, I’ve tried to learn guitar & piano but I just can’t quite seem to grasp the concept of how to PLAY 😖 It’s super frustrating & I’m so envious of so many musically talented people out there…
I agree tho, I appreciate the different perspective that Geebze brings to some of my very favorite songs 😌🖤
i remember being a teen crying in my car not being able to interpret my feelings and at the end of my first listen i said thanks maynard.
Yes, 💯
Yep
Mer De Noms is a masterpiece of an album. Not a single bad track. My personal fav is The Hollow--beautiful melodic guitar work on that one. As far as the musicians, the main songwriter and guitarist is Billy Howerdel and before forming APC, he was a guitar tech for Nine Inch Nails and Tool
"The Hollow" is maybe the ultimate example of 'leave them wanting more.' The song's so good, I wish they'd kept it going another couple minutes!
Didn't he create his own band in the late 2000's? Ashes Divide
Absolutely The Hollow! That echoed melodic lead at the start of the choruses is so good, yet you only hear it for like 12 seconds per listen. Definitely makes you want to put it on loop.
Mer De Noms will always hold a special place in my heart as I really devoured it when it came out shortly after my mother passed.
The Hollow is an amazing track, it also is the only track on Mer de Noms to feature Tim Alexander, the drummer from Primus. It has just a little different feel than Josh's drumming for the record. Both are incredible, of course.
This song used to help me get through severe panics attacks when I was in high school. If I was able I would put it on myself or friends and family would play it for me. I would almost instantly melt and feel at peace. This song was heaven sent for me and I am so thankful for it.
i'd listen to apc, chevelle, and linkin park non-stop during my deepest depression (i had anorexia, severe anxiety and depression, suicidal, etc). if it wasn't for this band, idk if i'd be here today. glad to hear you made it out of that dark time, friend. much love.
For me it was the complete opposite. I saw the song as purely ironic and it was a tool for me to self induce panic/anxiety attacks. Glad I got past that mess....
@@k_a_y_l_e_e Glad you're still here girl :)
"The universal sign for chicken skin". Dude, I've probably heard this song about a thousand times and I still get it.
Seriously. Every single time.
I cry with every listen.
Mesmerizes me EVERY time
Absolutely.... got me again
But wait... ruclips.net/video/m21kxoLJf38/видео.html
he wrote this for the overlooked and became the voice of those people. when he hits the "you don't see me" part, it breaks me inside because it's so perfectly reflective of my own feelings..
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
It always has been too, from first listen.
Oh boy, when you said you were expecting something similar from APC when coming from TOOL, just you wait until you hear Puscifer 😁
Lol
No kidding! 😂
I know I was surprised!
Hahaha
I must interject, and I know I'll get attacked for this, but in my humble opinion, if you do check out Puscifer, I recommend starting with their earlier stuff (V is for Vagina, C is for..., and Conditions of my Parole) I personally don't really love the two most recent albums. But I also know that it is subjective, and you may indeed love them. Merely my subjective recommendation.
That string arrangement is Paz Lenchantin, who at the time was their bass player. She’s incredibly gifted.
who is now bass player for pixies. is there anything she can't do??
@@spiknaaj classically trained musicians can usually play anything in any style they please. I’m envious of people like her
😍
Their strongest bassist by far! I miss her in the band.
@@Desto13 I really liked what she did on Billy Corgan's side project Zwan. Not many people seem to know/talk about that enough.
"I'm sorry I'm a little tired"
You don't have to lie. We know this brought a tear to your eye.
"My eyes are just a little sweaty today"
If I could only recall the emotion I felt upon my first listen, if it was a magnification of how I feel after all these years it must have been an opiate
My eyes still get “tired” when I listen to this track 🥲
It haa done it to me several times...so damn beautiful...
@@saltwatersoul me too, sis, me too 😂
This song makes me shed some tears EVERY.SINGLE.TIME
And I never really know why
same to me
I haven't heard 3 Libras in years, and I too am in tears right now. Maynard has a ton of vulnerability in his performance, and it just comes from a genuine and heartfelt place here.
I swear to you it does the same to me 🥹🥹😌🖤
I just get so emotional….SO emotional 🥹😌🥺😔
Me toooooooo. In fact this is my exact comment on another reaction of this song! Lol even the . . . ‘s🤣🖤
Can you imagine if Geebz was your middle or high school music teacher in the 90s??? Nobody would have ever skipped that class!!! Keep up the wonderful videos!!
this song used to make me cry so bad i could only listen to it occasionally. possibly my favourite song of all time
Yeah, it'd be so difficult to pick a favorite song of all time but if I had to, this might be it. And I don't even listen to much Tool. Love APC though.
Sames
Still gets me. Every time. In fact, I shouldn't be watching this, while I'm at work.
The atmosphere in this song is incredible, it takes you to a place that's just so fragrant with nostalgia, with this quiet undercurrent of something lost running underneath it. The song, let alone the album, are a complete world to themselves, inviting you in to feel it (esp noting. Orestes)
It made me cry and I've heard it a million times
You just listened to one of the perfect songs in the Universe.
Totally agree...
You should check out A Perfect Circle "Orestes" live at Red Rocks.
I always get goosebumps when they kick into the last chorus after the slightly dragged out solo.
Yea one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen and also my favorite song of theirs🤟
Yes, this needs to be seen! The feelings you get listening to this!
The entire Stone & Echo album is gold. I listen to that more than the studio albums now. Especially for the finale song, "By and Down", since it's only on a compilation (not on Spotify) and in a slightly different form in the new album.
Defo Orestes!!!
This song is stunning!. I literally cried the first time I heard it.
Mjk is the only artist that makes feel every emotion simultaneously.
So I read this as “MGK” at first and I almost had a heart attack 😅 my bad bro, carry on.
Josh Freese drumming with APC is as close as you get to perfection. One of the most underrated drummers of his generation.
as good as their latest album was, it really was missing josh freese
Preach!
I tend to agree. It was really a perfect fit. Did you know that Tim 'Herb' Alexander (Primus) recorded the first track 'The Hollow's!
*The Holow
well everybody mildly interested in 90's alternative rock knows Josh Freese
Humbling River by Puscifer.
I would add these three: Grand Canyon, Green Valley and Tumbleweed.
Love Humbling River
I was going to recommend that!
Yes!!
Momma sed, the live version...
Some suggestions from a perfect circle Judith and literally all of the other songs from their 2000 album Mer De Noms
mer de noms is one the best albums ever period. my favourite is Orestes. perfect song in my opinion
Judith is great
I'd say Judith and The Package (most of 13th Step is awesome as well) as appetizers.
A perfect album.
Judith and Sleeping Beauty. God I love Sleeping Beauty.
The acoustic guitar is so simply written, it's surprisingly easy to play, and to me when a composer can write something so simple, and yet so impactful, that is one of the marks of a true masterclass on great composing. This is definitely one of my favorite songs ever.
The lyrics are truly amazing, please give them a read. The build up towards the 2/3 mark of the song is almost like when you hold your emotions in and then they boil up and then BOOM you are feeling everything you've been holding in for so long. At least that's how I view it when I listen to it.
I could honestly talk about this piece for an hour and why it's so good, but honestly, learning every part and playing it myself is about as rewarding if not more.
I always loved the drummers decision to play this song so fast even on the “slow parts”. Cause it really makes those halftime parts hit so much harder
13th Step. A masterpiece from beginning to end. Seventeen years after release, still blows my mind 👌
It definitely doesn't “age” the way some music does. Neither does anything from Tool.
Thirteenth Step is a god damn masterpiece.
And I remember the day I bought the CD.
Agreed.
One of my top five albums of all time.
PLEASE DO ORESTES FROM A PERFECT CIRCLE
perfect song. nothing you could change to make it better.
I find Orestes can push you to the edge of suicide and then bring you back from it. It's like seeing your own death and laughing at it.
@Myname Isunavailable I love the alternate 1st verse version!
Yes!! Agreed!!
Everything Maynard touches turns to gold.
I feel like this song taps into the universal experience of discovering the futility of our efforts to be truly known\understood by another or the outside world in general.
Beautifully put. 100% agree
@@Merovinjian Thank you.
i dont think its the futility of our efforts, it's the inmensity of the desire for it... if we didn't want it, we wouldn't feel it, sorta like nostalgia, you know? there;'s something there and we know it, but we can't really see it, so we constantly search for it, without knowing what it is
Well put. @@DiegoSanchez-jh2oz
Magdalena by APC never gets old no matter how many times you hear it a masterclass of soft and loud on par with nirvana. the emotional journey is epic
Yeah that's my fave
Imagine the day he hears "The Humbling River" by Puscifer and realizes that there is another different Maynard project with amazing vocals and creative modern music.
That is one of the greatest songs ever.....the multie sides to Maynard are like none other.
And together we'll cross the river...
Yet I’m helpless by the riverrrrr
Nine Inch Nails. Please. You as a composer will love Reznor and all his genius.
Oh yes!
I've been anticipating this :D Glad to see others looking towards some Reznor reviews.
Reptile would be a great start.
Nine Inch Nails yes!!!!!!
omg yeeees!!!
They're almost flawless live as well, one of the best sounding concerts I've ever attended.
The first time I heard 3 Libras I was so spiritually moved and ultimately HOOKED on Manard's voice! I saw them back then, and words can't even explain what that felt like! There is something that just draws you in. The lyrics to a lot of his songs are prophetic.
I used to listen to this song my senior year in high school. It meant a lot back then but now that I’ve been married for ten years, this hits a different way.
I consider this "my" song. It is an absolute masterpiece, and still makes me cry 20 years later. Perfection.
It. Is. My. Favorite. Song.
Totally stole my comment - i absolutely agree.
Yeah I've heard it at least 1000 times and I still get chills.
Dude hearing how your a big Led Zeppelin fan. Checkout Tools cover too “NO QUARTER” phenomenal
Also When the levee breaks APC
Hell yes I was gobsmacked by that track !!
Hard to better zeppelin but TOOL manage it!
@@sodvs7062 I loved the jazzy feel of their wtlb cover, I also love the industrial darker take on imagine on that same album

GREAT POST, THIS SONG WAS VERY EMOTIONAL FOR ME, BEING CHRISTIAN, I FELT THE PAIN THAT I PRAYED THESE GUYS FIND PEACE IN CHRIST
I used this song in a Hamlet comparison and my teacher was really impressed. Thanks APC 👍
There's a video of them performing this live on Conan (actually Jay Leno, as pointed out below) and it's perfect to show the aesthetics they were going for at the time. It's always great seeing Maynard perform live- he just makes it look so effortless.
It was Jay Leno
@@adamtucker3956 You're right, my mistake! Definitely worth a watch.
I saw them live and was simply blown away by how close it sounded to the album versions.
I have watched that many times as it seems rare to be able to catch Maynard on mainstream...awesome performance. Being able to see Perfect Circle live was greatness!
A perfect Circle: Wow!!
You will not be disappointed.
Judith &
If you have time listen to
APC's Thirteenth Step in its entirety. (If you reacted to that, people would watch.)
The composition of the music flows beautifully. The music is Amazing but the lyrics are... mmm. Well you'll see.
Great Reactions BTW.
Definitely react to
The Package &
The Noose from Thirteenth Step

I've been listening to this song since the late 2000's when I worked in a music shop and every single time it starts, I still say wow.
At that first cord i always get goosebumps 🤘🖤
I saw this song live at perfect circles first performance no one had ever heard it before that night you could see how emotional the song was for him he practically broke down at the end. this song broke me as well.
His voice is a beacon in the sea of instruments. This song truly is heart breaking in his journey thru grief. I love this song because it's his heart, open for all to see.
This song makes me instantly emotional for some reason, it's amazing, so much feeling, emotion, passion to it
Great stuff. Dont sleep on Puscifer, yet another Maynard project.
See you at 100k subscribers geebz!
If 3 Libras made you feel this way, you should definitely give 'A Stranger' a listen too. (from their album 13th Step)
Give A Perfect Circle "The Outsider" a listen from the album "The 13th Step"
i feel like that album is oddly slept on??? it's so good.
Yes!
@@k_a_y_l_e_e It's their best album by far but nobody talks about any album but Mer de Noms.
This song always made me cry.
I absolutely am hypnotized by his voice. This song would break me down and shred my soul long before i took the time to see what my sister was playing. Then i listened to the words and balled my eyes out. Its like hearing the angels sing. The thing is little did i know that is who he is singing about. The main fallen angel. The one he sold his soul to. I havent play this in years and years. Long long before completely waking up to who truly runs and control the music industry. It is a Master-Piece. But what master and what fallen angel is he truly speaking of? Still can't help but feel every bit of this song. But long have known his master is not mine. YAHUAH BLESS YOU
Oh my goodness. Thank you. I was taking a walk down memory lane and found your channel. So glad I did. This is a way for me to safely listen to a bit of the FATHER through them without fallen under the spell. Again. I could chill with you no doubt. And back in my wilder days I'd of only chilled with your kind. Days on end. I'm looking forward to going home these days though. Now that I torn the curtain down. Ya feel me? I can't even close my eyes and not see the TRUTH. It gets better after it gets fixed. But was one hell of a ride. YAHUAH bless and thanks.
I love this song! Of course, I'm a Libra, so I would!! LOL Judith is great, too. Also, a different band but another great tune is Change(in the House of Flies) by The Deftones.
Change (in the House of Flies) is my second favorite song after 3 Libras
I went to a NIN concert in 2001or 2002 in Vancouver can't remember. APC opened and I walked into the stadium right when Maynard was singing this song, when the arrangement and he saing "And I threw you the obvious.." with that higher force. And man i gave me chills trying to find my sea while listening to this. Hearing his voice reverberate around the stadium was incredible. I will never forget it. Definitely had goose flesh during that.
3 libras is the first A Perfect Circle song I've heard and it is so far my favourite A Perfect Cricle song ever. 😍
Three Libras is genius work. I hope everyone gets to experience it
Perfect song to start with APC.
A Perfect Circle - Rose
Really interesting arrangement, powerful lyrics, gem of a track that usually gets forgotten!
Sleeping Beauty is better IMO but Rose is right behind it.
I remember listening to this song in my room of a house I shared with my college buddy. I hadn't given the lyrics too much attention at the time. So the song is playing, and my buddy steps into my room, stops and listens, closes his eyes and listens, then his head lowers and he listens to the finish. He turned to walk out without saying a word and a few steps out of my room I hear him sniff. I read the lyrics and it hit me... He had been in love with a girl who lived on our floor in college who never considered him more than a friend.
It's amazing what emotions and feelings a song can percolate up from the soul.
What I’d give to hear this song again for the first time. Awesome awesome reaction. I’m glad I stumbled upon this..
This is one where you really ought to read the lyrics! Maynard’s mother was in a coma for like 9 years before dying, and this song deals with some very difficult childhood emotions. It’s a really powerful song! I think you should check out Wings for Marie parts 1 and 2 by Tool. Those songs have more amazing lyrics regarding his mother and her faith. Incredible stuff.
Judith is also about his mother. I experienced something similar with my mother and her name was ironically “Mari “ which was short for Maria. I avoid the songs you mentioned, along with several others that hit close to home for me but they are masterpieces nonetheless.
I remember seeing the Judith video on mtv2 back in the day, bought the album that weekend
3 Libras is not about his mom, it's about so called friends of Maynard who were not close to him out of true friendship but were just leaching off him. He mentioned they all have birthdates around the same time and share the same zodiac sign, Libra. He also mentioned it's actually 9 of them and he named the song 3 libras so they all would have to figure out who are the three he is referring to in the song. It's all on the video commentary off their aMOTION DVD.
@@victorio_retrogrado wow, ok. Good shit. I probably just read that into the lyrics. I guess that’s how it always goes - people sort of make the song mean whatever they want it to mean
@@dclarkmusic Maynard's very first comment before all of that other stuff was simply "It's about being overlooked", so associating it with painful childhood memories is not outlandish. What the song stirs up in you personally is always more important than what the "intended" meaning is. If you allow that stuff to fully come up and really become present with it and the music, listening to music can be downright transformative and therapeutic.
Billy Howerdel and Maynard, the whole band was magical on this record, kind of wish the OG lineup were still together, oh well.
Apparently nothing
@@jackalope2302 At all.
@@williamcozart8158 oh wow. You see me!
The Humbling River by Puscifer is another masterpiece.

This song was my alarm clock for three months. It was a good period of time, but it coincided with a significant transition in my life. I had just been released from the Army, and it marked the first time I was truly free. Fully adult. I could do whatever I wanted without any restrictions or obligations. For years afterward, I couldn't bring myself to listen to this song again.
Some other recommendations orestes, pet, blue, the package, stranger, rose, the doomed, weak and powerful, the noose and many others A perfect Circle's is a such a great band that really sets itself apart from tool.
When Maynard starts with the closing "you dont see me" part, i get the ckn skin- every time
Me too
Saw APC live, and this song had the entire audience mesmerized
That part just about breaks me 😩
I love every part of this song but that final part where it builds up to .. "You Don't, You Don't, You Don't.. See Me.. " it gets me everytime... I have to sing it out with Maynard every time 😂
You speak of listening to the vocals as if they were an instrument then you definitely need to check out their cover of john lennon's "imagine"
Saw Perfect Circle at the Hollywood Bowl a couple years back. It was an amazing experience. Love Billy Howerdel on the guitar. Was lucky enough to see Tool at the Staple Center in late 2019 (Fear Inoculum Tour), just a couple months before the world went mad with the Covid-19 response. Incredible concert. Hope concerts return soon here in California. We haven’t really been living for the past year. Enjoy your content, keep it up. Cheers.
I was at both of those shows. It rained so hard before APC at The Bowl we thought they were going to cancel. Then the heavens cleared, the moon came up & it was a f'ing spellbinding show! Otherworldly!
I was so fucking heartbroken when that album came out, I was madly in love with that girl who liked to mess with me but who wouldn't leave the guy she was with. Everytime I hear that song, I feel that pain like it is today. That's how strong this song is to me.
I can relate. This song to me represents anyone who’s ever felt rejected, slighted, or ignored. That realization that no matter how strong or loving our feelings are towards someone there’s that chance they may reject us and not feel the same way or not even give us a chance to even know us at all.
I rarely comment on videos, but I've seen about five of yours today and I wanted to say thank you!
It's nice to see such genuine emotional response to the caveats hidden within. Truly.
PLEASE, you owe it to yourself to listen to “The Noose” by a perfect circle - I think you will be blown away. After that, “the hollow”, also by them. I really loved your impressions of Lateralus!
Maynard voice just finds every tune and brilliantly opens up your heart to what he’s singing
This is the most beautiful song and really showcases Maynard’s voice. It touches my soul every time I hear it…like deeply touches my soul.
Check out some of their other hits "Orestes" and "The Hollow". Maybe even from the "Stone and Echo Live at Red Rocks
" live dvd if you want to see a great performance.
My favorite song off of one of my favorite albums. Its a perfect song except for the fact that its too damn short.
That's exactly what I said about 3 Libras... It's only fault is that it doesn't last long enough 😢
Can't wait for you to complete the Maynard trio and discover Puscifer: his third music project (he also runs a Vinyard and makes his own wine to keep himself from getting bored ... y'know, like you do ). Can I humbly suggest 'Grey Area' from their new album 'Existential Reckoning' . Love your content. Love the goosebumps ... sorry - chickenskin ;)
Absolutely. Ish will blow his farking mind. :)
Theorem is my favorite so far from the new album. Those harmonies at the end are mind melting goodness.
@@iamthewalrus. Theorem and Grey Area are too good. I hope so much that live shows can happen again so I can experience those songs live.

Now, I *love* _Judith_ but it’s the most Tool-like song in their catalog. Not that that’s a bad thing, mind you. APC just generally has a softer, more feminine feel.
@@thirdeyespirit7530 he got those major feels at the end there. Not too bad. Passive is such a great song for that. Highly relatable and because of that your emotions can really take over when you listen to it
