i'm back with another instalment of my 'backpacking the east coast of australia (cairns to sydney)' series - in this video we are in cairns, our first stop of the trip! i'm so glad we kicked off the trip with a busy few days packed full of activities as it really helped us adjust to the change in time zone. in cairns we spent one day visiting the waterfalls (with uncle brians), one day sailing and snorkelling at the great barrier reef (with passions of paradise) and then one day visiting the beautiful fitzroy island. however, there is so much to see in cairns and the surrounding areas that you are totally spoilt for choice with options for trips and activities - we even felt that we could have stayed here longer.

I really wanne volunteer at the turtle rehabilitation center! Let's hope traveling is allowed again next year. This episode has made me so exited to restart my planning for it!
lottekhe1 the turtle centre was so lovely and, from what i remember, i think they were in the middle of expanding and improving their facilities so would be a great place to volunteer! i hope we can travel again soon too, desperate to get back to the world again! thanks for watching and for the comment💓💓

thank you so much! i just use iMovie for editing but then experiment with various apps to find more fun fonts, transitions etc to add x
Loving these videos! Hoping to travel down the East Coast end of this year / beginning of next year (depending on the rona). Just wondering, did you have to book a tour to visit the Fitzroy Island? Or can you just book a ferry and go there yourself? (: xx
thanks so much, glad you are enjoying them - i hope you are able to do your trip we went around the same time and it was such a great time to go! no need to book a fitzroy ‘tour’, i don’t think they even exist! it was just a 45 minute boat/ferry transfer there and back which (i think ?? in total) cost around $50AUD per person and we booked it about 2-3 days in advance at one of the tourist info shops when we got to cairns! fitzroy is a beautiful island though would 100% recommend xx

What camera do you use for all this and going in the water ? X
for underwater filming i used a gopro hero 7 and then any other footage was just filmed using my iphone (iphone 11) or a canon g7x 😊x
