I have a set of flannel sheets without pillow cases, found a brand new king size flannel sheet at good will for 4 dollars. Made pillow cases out of it.
I used to have flannel sheets for the winter, and then I found microfiber to be even warmer and softer. Cotton for the summer, flannel for spring and fall and microfiber for the winter.
One of the cheapest warming tools are hand warmers . Throw a couple sets in your jacket pockets with your gloves, fill the glovebox and kitchen drawers. They provide heat for up to 12 hours. Put them in pants or shirt pockets. Inside a mummy bag. How many preppers have a sub zero sleeping bag for every family member? Great video!
Bill just got back from helping the hurricane victims in NC. In the mountains where he was, they STIIL have NO POWER. They are STILL sleeping in donated tents. NO HEAT. .
This is unbelievable in the United States!! Illegal aliens/terrorists put in hotels and Americans are sleeping in tents in freezing temperatures!! This is treasonous!!😭😭😢😢😭😪
OMG 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Send them some thick Mylar blanklets. They will reflect their own body heat back to their body. I used to sleep in the snow in a tent with one if the thin ones under my sleeping bag.
You don't hear about the actual current situations in the mainstream media. That is a travesty. There's no reason for it. If we can send billions to another country that's not a NATO member why can't we take care of our own? Same goes for the mentally ill and especially Veterans. Sorry for the rant. Thank you for helping Bill!
We had a 1-1/2 hour power outage one morning this week. So I got 2 dishpans of water from the sink and set aside for washing dishes. Then I refilled my water bottle that I drink from through the day, and discovered that I should have refilled my countertop water filter! Then I got out my oil lamps, and realized I hadn't filled them! And one of them won't open, so I have to figure that out and maybe get a new top for it. Yeah, it was a good trial for me, and I'm sure glad it wasn't a long outage!
I have been reorganizing my apartment so I can get my preps put away and not in boxes in the living room. I have a small second bedroom that's full of preps that is getting reorganized big time. I have saved and filled with water all 2 liter soda bottles, juice jugs and even the 16 oz soda bottles. I also have 2.5 gallon, 3 gallon, 5 gallon and 6 gallon bottles filled. All water is stored in closets, under sinks, in boxes and baskets and under and behind every available space in my place. I also have all types of water purification and filters. And a water bladder for the tub. I have become great friends with my daughter's new mother in law. To my surprise they are preppers too🎉🎉🎉! My grown kids think I'm nuts. Well now there's 2 of us nuts in the family 😂❤😂!
I got my first license to hunt deer. This meant taking the required hunter safety education class first, before I could buy the license. Watched RUclips videos on how to field dress a deer if I am lucky enough to harvest one. Teaching myself the skills. Using my father’s favorite deer hunting rifle. Trying to carry family traditions of self-sufficiency into the next generation. (Opening day of firearm deer season was yesterday here in MI.). Learning skills can be prepping too. 😎
AG here is a tip …..One of the greatest storage areas is to utilize the under the bed area……if you can raise the bed frame about 18 to 20” using about either 12 pieces of 4/4, I use 4/6 pieces cut to 18” high…. replace the box springs with a 3/4 “ piece of plywood put your mattress on top and bingo you have a great storage area. I added hinges on the headboard so I can lift the mattress and plywood to a open position. I use Rubbermaid totes that are 15” high and get about 16 under my king sized bed. I added a skirt to hide everything and also it raised the top of my mattress up about two inches which I really enjoy makes it much easier to get in and out of bed. This is a perfect solution for those with limited storage space, and 16 large totes store a significant amount of preps. Blessings
Also if you have a metal bed frame with permanent feet, when placing the wood 4x4s place the wood pieces next to the feet but the top of the wood touches the frame not the feet, I used construction adhesive to secure the metal to the wood, by doing this your have a super strong support system.
Havent used my chimney in years and we use electric heat. Worried about outages so Im getting a licensed chimmy inspection done before the bit of winter in central Fla. I consider it cold at anything below 60*. 😅 lol
I almost finished eating through my freezer in preparation for new winter leftovers. I also lost my gloves at my new job so I will be looking for my old mittens tonight. I will also be cleaning and waterproofing my leather boots since we are expecting snow and rain this week. That's what I did for prepping and my plans for this week. I also plan to try ready pasta and make an open and eat salad with just what I have in the fridge and in cans to see what it tastes like. I've never tried it, but found out about it at my new job. You never know what you will find out when you leave the house.
I bought ALOT of blankets at thrift stores around 5 dollars pre 2020. I get power outages from blizzards. Ten yrs ago in a Christmas blizzard 5 days and a house full of company i had plenty of blankets for everybody. Nobody complained about being cold. This including children. And a fireplace and wood. Cooked Christmas dinner on the Bbq grill in the snow. No i dont care about outages anytime of yr. Got 2 ft of snow bout a week ago got things ready for outage as lights were flickering but never went out.
Save those empty laundry detergent bottles and fill with water if just to be able to flush a toilet 😂 No power, no well, no water. Personal experience lol.
This Christmas I have been purchasing items for my grown grandchildren that are needed! Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, cloth diapers, flannel shirts and more! It has been fun to find items that have a real value for the family 😊 oh and fire blankets for kitchen. Yes I have made emergency food buckets 👍
Been ordering from keystone once a month. I reorganized stuff and now I can’t remember where I put stuff. Ugh!! Thanks AG!! You are amazing! Have a great weekend everyone!!
Thanks for the reminders. I just went and pulled my extra blankets out and started rewashing them so they are all ready. Thanks for another great video. See you on the next one.
My son whom works outside, I bought him 6 bottles of Flintstone gummies, tbey were $1.99 each he takes every day, and he has warm gear too and has not been sick so far. 😊
Great common sense. People are listening to those who vilify pepping, and so many non-WWIII emergencies come up. During the pandemic, my grandson stayed at neighbors because he got sich when they got sick. Both parents worked, the kids were all teens, so there was no excuse for them not having what they needed. I sent up all kinds of food, soups I had made and frozen and all sorts of things, (my grandson, remember!) When I then got sick despite my grandson's precautions,(like he had me put the bags of food on the driveway), I still had plenty of everything for us. Of course I replenished as soon as I could. Even before that we were in quarantine and we lacked for nothing. I don't understand how people can live without considering what can happen.
Wow, thanks for sharing your experiences. You are so right, you can help those you care about and still have plenty for yourself if you consider what can happen, and prepare.
This week I thought about what I need next. Last month I put together emergency bags for the car for my husband and me. Not too elaborate. We are retired, and for the most part can avoid bad weather. But I have had two instances when I was working when we had surprise snow storms that made it impossible for me to get home. I live near a large metropolitan area. Until the pandemic, I never thought about prepping. My eyes are now wide open. The past two years I have done a lot. I would love a whole house generator, but it might never be in the budget. We can’t deal with a portable one, so we have clothing, blankets, a way to cook off grid lots, of lanterns, etc. to help us out if need be. I would prefer to not go to a she.ter, Ali where we live those would be fairly easy to access.
