Some time ago you had mentioned about placing a paper towel in with the bread before freezing, WOW, it really helps and thank you for the suggestion. No storage unit for us however we do have two shipping containers that e use for storage, up front cost was high but no monthly storage fees. We too are trying to downsize too, the wife and I in our 70's and just retired, trying to simplify our lives. With our freezer, we were able to put away 38 pounds of chicken breasts that we got from Costco. We store lots of meats and other foods in the freezers. Thank you for the all of the heads ups!!!
We moved from a suburban Seattle 3 bedroom ranch to a huge farmhouse in northern Vermont. Even though my kitchen is twice as large, it has 9 doors and a wood stove so I have a lot fewer cabinets. I decided just last night that it’s time to clear out my huge supply of cake pans, baking sheets, casserole dishes, etc. This video is well timed and cements my resolve to stop playing kitchen cabinet Jenga!❤️🇺🇸
Hormel also has food for those with difficulty swallowing called “ Food in a Cup”. Perhaps for the elderly. This is a prepping item that nobody has mentioned.
My living room sort of looks like what my kitchen cabinets would look like- if i had cabinets. My house is very tiny but I am not using house size as an excuse not to have emergency supplies. Especially during the cold weather.
Have you seen that the LDS now offers sliced strawberries in their #10 cans. The price is better than what I have found with other companies. 👍. They are a great resource.
hi i just got a brochure in the mailbox about items to keep home in case of unforseen events. I live in norway so it might be interesting to compare what americans and norwegians are told. The brochure include 1 week of supply and tips. Its rare to have extreme events here where parts of the poputation is cut off. Every few years snow can block a road but those who live there know what to do. My town is nowhere near to anything like that. Again this is recommended not manditory yet. let me know if you want to know more about it and i send it to you. Love your videos even if i am picking on them somethimes.
I feel paper goods and plastic cutlery is an excellent prep especially if water is an issue. Save your water for drinking rather than washing dishes. Paper is best when possible as it can be burned and not turn into a pile of trash to draw vermin
THANK YOU AG! I have been eating down on my stocked food, but being laid up I find it difficult to add those foods back to my stock. I started stocking several years ago as I knew Inflation was going to slam us in the face! I had some extra money those years and Invested in food, safety supplies, a camping stove w lots of fuel ect. Thank you for helping me know what and how to stock up! God bless you AG!❤❤
I have Chef Boyardee cans.I NEVER eat Chef Boyardee canned foods but I could, and I have several others, including a child, who would more than likely be here and so I am ready fro those who will.I have canned soups. I do use some in cooking, but I have more to use with our pasta, rice and grains. I NEVER had canned pasta sauce but more and more of those who stay with me like it, so here we have, and I can feed a lot of people if need be quickly enough. I found that the cream sauces are really nice. All kinds of canned meats and fish are absolutely essential, as are canned vegetables. Herdes Salsa Verde is a staple in our pantry. Dog and cat treats and food are in the house! (Hi, Teddy!) The granddoggy living here is probably 6X Teddy's size and she prefers PB treats.
I actually 'like' the Chef. I add a little brown sugar, black pepper and a shake of parmesan cheese. Heat well and eat. Maybe add a slice of butter bread on the side. To me it tastes yummy. 😊
My food stock includes using a number of hormel completes, I use a floor area, 3’ by 3’ stacking 10 boxes of seven meals each on each layer my amount is 6 layer high so 420 meals rotating new additions to the bottom …the average storage best by date is approx 15 months down the road so these are a good basis for your supplies. I enjoy eating everyday, my favorites are chicken Alfredo, beefy Mac, spaghetti, chicken mashed potatoes, and they also put dirty Moore stew in these containers……..the cost has gone up 70% in the last 6 months thanks to bidenomics
LDS also has a book called LDS Preparedness Manual. It is on Amazon and has nothing to do with religion. It’s straight up prepping! I’ve had mine for years! It’s a great go to manual! ❤ be safe!
Hi, A.G., good vid as usual. I use a LOT of those bungies, and keep the hook ends when the elastic part of the bungie degrades & breaks (which happens a lot more quickly these past couple of years). I use pieces of rope attached to those plastic hook ends, and use these to lift the native sweet peas that grow here (pretty flowers, sadly with no scent/ "smell", but the pollinators love them), to lift these plants up off the ground, by hooking them onto the deck railing spindles. Or, I used them to help support overgrown tomatoes or other garden plants, and to help hang the whole tomato plants upside down in the basement, for the green toms to ripen if they're 'behind" when we start getting frosts. In the summer, or other times when I need to keep the screen door open (such as for carrying-in purchases), I bungie the door open against the deck railings. Lots of uses for these clever things. Using plain rope with the end hooks works well also and doesn't waste these useful end hooks. Cheers!
What a great video! I’m going to still be working on my 3-6 months ready to go storage. I like the Keystone Meats, and Star Kissed Chunk Light Tuna for the family. Those Compleats would be good additions! It’s basically meats, fruits and vegetables and soups. I definitely would like to order more from the LDS church for long term. Good prices! I keep saying I’m going to do inventory but haven’t done it yet. I’m learning better bread making skills on a channel here on RUclips with the best teaching style for me. So that’s taking up some time these days. I’m learning to cook with cast iron, and she’s big on food storage. Great combination! I never knew about those jar lids fitting AG so I’m going to investigate that. It’s such a good idea! I don’t can but using pasta jars and the like would be great after you use the contents. Thanks AG! Have the best Saturday! Stay safe and warm!!🥰🇺🇸
Teddy is so cute! I get Halo pumpkin & peanut butter baked treats for my boy Pete (Briard) with our auto-ship from Chewy every four weeks. Whatever is left of each bag of his dog food goes into double freezer bags and into the freezer labeled & dated.
@@Jazbo777 Thanks - it's the same for me as putting the last scoops of anything I make for myself into bags for the small freezer for "soup." (that could be anything) lol
My Senior JRT loves peanut butter. I give him a teaspoon of peanut butter with his meds. He thinks he's getting a treat, lol. 🐕 Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
My husband found some powdered peanut butter so you might want to check to find some if you need a shelf stable backup. We have to watch to make sure that most peanut butters don't have too much sugars, additives and ones like Jif used shortening to make them more spreadable so we avoid any and go for the ones that are just peanuts and some salt.
I like the Hormel Completes. My new favorite is the spaghetti. Here in Michigan, the price for them at Walmart is $2.28 and Dollar Tree is $2.50. I keep some in my pantry and sometimes I take them to work for lunch also. 👍
Your pet liking peanut butter reminds me I bought a jar to try as so many preppers say what a good source of protein it is, if I don’t like it well it was on offer it the time so I won’t have wasted much to try it.
I have the bungee cords like that but what are the black things pictured with them beside the cords? I'd like to have something to clip on trapes with regular cord to maybe make a shade for garden to zip open or close fast. I don't know what they are called. ❤Bungee cords are very handy!😊

Decluttering is a constant battle but It feels really good when it's gone. Marketplace is a great way to sell or give it away.
I have been stocking up for a couple of years. Eating down on the stock as we go. Its scary what is happening in the world today.😢
@@ashlipope5079 True. It’s concerning. 👍🇺🇸
So important to stock up for our fur babies too! ❤
Yes, been canning homemade stew for dogs today. Plus canning bone in chicken and chuck roast. Do much cheaper and healthier than canned meat.

Would ordering from Amazon be of help to you? Or possibly a local grocery offers delivery?
Your neighbors are possibly storing excessively, but getting rid of anything right now bothers me because I am very concerned for the supply chain.
Yes. And everything is getting more expensive plus the quality of things like furniture is getting worse.
That is a good point - hadn't thought of that.
Thanks again for the great advice.
