I like how you got to the point. It really pierces through the bs of it being a weak weapon. The spear is so satisfying, it's like playing darts, except the dartboard is running away and screaming. ok i'm done with the bad jokes. great vid from someone who clearly loves the spear and isn't afraid to let it shine. liked and subbed. thanks for bringing that guide into the world. i'll open up some powershift now and try it out again.
Requiring full mastery of a weapon takes it down a few tiers most of the time because of how much you gotta practice before seeing results, any weapon can reach that point, easy access and use weapons that get a ton of damage even if you just picked them up like the Model has a ton of value for rankings. I've always liked Spears, is one of my favorite if not my absolute favorite medieval weapon and figuring out how to do it in the finals has been tricky, this guide has a lot of things I didn't know about and I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the Value in barricades as a melee player.
Fire video, I think you ARE the best spear player ive seen so far. Legit opened my mind on using winch when i used to think its bad for spear. also love the in depth analysis of different counterplays for each class and specialization! Appreciate the content!
I appreciate there's someone out there playing spear, it's useless honestly, if you're going melee you might as well just go sledge. This is what's so great about The Finals though, you build your hero, you make it work, you have fun.
I'd argue spear is better at dealing with multiple close enemies. Plus being able to move shit around is under rated. It can instantly deny cashout steal by pushing it around! Sledge is fun and satisfying tho. They both have pros and cons
Dmg output of spear can be extremely close to sledge if you know your combos, and has insane range vs the pitiful range of the sledge, not to mention the 360° attack secondary. Sledge is hard coded to only be able to hit one enemy at a time but I have full team wiped with spins several times on densely grouped teams. I appreciate the spear downplay and the general consensus that spear is 'useless' because everyone underestimates you and no one sees what's coming.
great vid! I wanna say since you didnt mentio it in the vid the spear hit gadgets thru walls so you can pind a turret flank and stab them thru the ceiling or floor. same with mine you see a bunch of explosives or c4s in front of you? put the barricade down and stab it thru it
Holy crap, the fact that you can fling people off the map is crazy. I recently got into the spear and I'm at level 4 right now; I also uninstalled it out of getting tilted out of my mind last night. My kryptonite are lights that one-shot me before I have the time to react. Questions for you: - Also, do you know if the spin-to-win's damage hitbox is only in front? - How do you deal with lights who one-shot you in a second? Thanks for making this guide my guy 🙏
@@Abc123z1000 It’s a 360 hit box but the spin is more consistent if it’s in front, and the true best way to deal with them is bringing shields and barricades or trying to trick them around a corner into one of your right clicks. It’s mostly based off practice when dealing with lights, they are very difficult to deal with especially with spear, if you have anymore questions I’d be happy to help
Great vid! One thing you missed: when canceling the secondary attack, it doesn't lock you in for the rest of what the animation would have been, it's always a set time of ~1.5 seconds. However, in addition to being able to use your specialization, you can also quick melee during this period. Also, if you cancel any time during the 3rd swing (even the first frame of the very long spin animation before the actual attack comes out) you will be fully actionable straight out of the cancel. Each secondary hit is 100dmg, and the first two hits come out quickly and hit in rapid succession - meaning they basically 1 hit kill lights, but quicker than the sledge secondary and with much more range and a near-360° attack radius. The spear is also the only melee that can hit multiple targets with one melee attack, so you can kill multiple targets simultaneously if they're grouped together. Also, the biggest drawback of the spear imo is unfortunately the inconsistency of the secondary. I used to think it would be fully negated by even the slightest bump in terrain or anything in between you and the target, but there have been many times I have been pressed up against someone directly facing them and the hit just doesn't register for some reason - and conversely, sometimes it hits people through walls. It sometimes feels like a total dice roll and I really hope they patch it soon...
Alas, they will not fix it, since the game is completely tailored to you know what class. All the things that cause problems for the H-class - as a rule - are not fixed in any way.
I have almost lost hope that they (the developers of Embark, Nexon, it doesn't matter), that they will at least do something with Stun Gun... This is a complete moronism - when the game has, on the one hand, a melee weapon (and not only one for each class), and on the other hand, the aforementioned gadget... At least - such a gadget - then it should be an Ability, but not a gadget. Either-that damn Stun Gun-should be completely removed from the game. Yes, I foresee the words that "then the RPG should be removed," but no, the RPG - is well "balanced" in this regard, since its use against melee players will entail strongly negative consequences for the player himself using the RPG (due to damage by itself), and Stun Gun - causes ABSOLUTELY no problems for the player using it. Besides, apart from the lack of damage on its own, it has no recoil, no scatter when used, no, you can even jump up and use it - and you will hit the target exactly. And I'm not even talking about how terrible this gadget is in the hands of a class that is the most mobile of all possible classes. And the dumbest thing is that when you have, say, 20-30 health points, but you play L and have a Stun Gun, then you can hit the enemy chasing you with it (especially when enemy - using melee weapons), and you don't even HAVE to fight off this opponent - you can just run away, and your opponent, struck with the help of Stun Gun, any other opponents will be disassembled into small pieces, especially if they are caught 2 / 3-4 / 5. I already have a strong feeling that the developers either do not know what "Balance" is at all, or they do everything on purpose, so that all the players play for this L-class, and those who mostly play for Mediums /Heavies simply suffered, and were forced to be constantly on the alert and fight off these dumb, crazy dogs who, at the first opportunity, will rush you with their invisibility, dash, tasers, and other shit that will allow them to make zero out of your 250/350 life points - faster than you will do with their 150 life points. But once the developers have at least buffed something, and not their class has any "Discussions" on Steam, they will immediately be assaulted with complaints that "WE HAVE THE SMALLEST POOL OF HEALTH, WE ARE DYING AND WE WILL DELETE THE GAME SOON IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE RECENTLY BUFFED WEAPON FROM M (H) - CLASS! 😫". And, of course, the developers will listen to (you know) who. I spend several hours a day in this game, and I play in all 3 classes, I have played more than 900 hours according to the internal statistics of the game, but what the game has turned into since season 1... I just don't have the words. Once before, I sat down to this game, experiencing not only excitement, but also a considerable amount of fun and pleasure. Since the middle of the second season, this game has become a kind of disappointment, and the only thing left of the old feelings is only excitement. But he is not so strong anymore, because when you start a round in which 50-70% of the opponents are Lights, then the outcome of the match is always easy to predict. And every victory is no longer fun, but just thoughts in the style of "fuuuh, finally, really, it's amazing that we won." I'm already silent about how much this game is infected by players who don't know anything else but to attack you from behind throughout the whole fucking round. Especially if you dare to pick up the MGL (which I have - almost level 7 by the way). I do not know if it is really very interesting for them to play in such a "style" ... Then let the developers remove the statistics of kills and deaths so that these Lights do not have an incentive to play just for the sake of kills. Or - a temporary ban on launching a mode in which they have only efficiency in the number of kills, but constantly almost 0 "Objective" points.
I'm a melee main, mostly dagger, but I've been getting into spear lately, and I've been looking for a guide like this. Great informative vid!

Definitely going to try out the tech in this video.

Decent video to boost my ex-spear-ience
I lowkey liked using the spear recently. Probably super slept on by most heavy players
A random and i won WT on fortune stadium after our teammate quit on us. I played spear which i rarely do. We popped off!! 😅 Best match in a long time!
I use spear with gravity cube, throw cube then spin inside it😂 it hits everyone inside
Spin attack is so good against hand holding mediums!! They dont know what to do 😂
...Spear...
Sorry if it's a dumb question but you mentioned being top 500 in power shift at the start of the video. Is there actually a ranked power shift?
there is no ranked powershift, but there is a leaderboard. It is purely grind based, take that with a bit of salt. Sorry if it was unclear for you
@KyubiTheEye
Ooohh gotchu. Thanks for clarifying :^)
Spear does extra dmg if your an alien! + 10 probe dmg 😅
This... this right here 😂😂😂
